Clubs & Activities Spring Term 2023
Spanish (Year 1-6)
Have fun with the Spanish language. Call Mrs Clay directly on 01279 721402 to book your child’s place.
Maths Challenge Club (Year 8-9)
In the spring, Saint Nicholas will take a team of Year 8 and 9 pupils to a Team Maths Challenge competition in Cambridge. This club is for pupils who would like to take part in that competition. Each week pupils try different types of puzzles and questions in preparation for the spring time event.
Gardening Club (Year 1-2)
Gardening Club will provide a great experience for children to learn about gardening, gaining hands on experience growing their own plants, vegetables and hopefully at some point in the future they will be able to taste the fruits (and vegetables) of their labour. Club members will be looking after the lower school playground area and will help develop valuable skills such as patience, trial and error, communication and responsibility.
Board Games Club (Year 3-5)
In board games club the children learn strategies, maths skills and turn taking. We will play a variety of games which all children who come will enjoy.
Science Help Clinic (Year 9-11)
Struggling with biology or chemistry, want to do some revision, or just need a confidence boost? Then this club is the place to come to. Open to Years 9, 10 and 11 and all abilities welcome.

ISA Shakespeare Monologue Competition Club (Year 5-6)
This club is for a select number of Year 5 and 6 pupils (four from each year group) who will be working on Shakespearean performances, in preparation for the ISA Shakespeare Monologue competition which will take place in March 2023. This club is invitation only.
Fashion Club (Year 3-4)
In this club, children will become creative designers, designing bags, purses and jewellery. The children will develop their technical sewing skills as well as allowing their creativity to flourish.
Yoga Club (Reception)
Yoga has been proven to build children’s core strength for good posture and overall physical fitness, along with helping flexibility and mobility in all joints and muscles. Why not come and give it a go? This club is open to Reception children.
Mindful Colouring Club (Year 6-11)
Come and create your own Mandala at Mindful Colouring Club. All resources provided but if you have your own colouring pens please bring them along.
Karate
Karate is a great way to increase fitness, confidence and selfesteem. It is also a great forum in which to learn humility and respect for others, whilst also learning the basics of how to defend yourself. This weekly session is run by qualified UKA Sensei, Daniel Thackray.


Clubs & Activities Spring Term 2023
Eco Club (Year 3-5)
This club is a great way to get back to nature and to put those green fingers to good use. Pupils have fun maintaining the school allotments, harvesting the vegetables, looking after local wildlife, discovering new mini beasts through pond dipping and thinking of new ways for the school to be even more environmentally friendly. Hard work is often rewarded by toasting marshmallows over a fire and drinking hot chocolate with friends. This club is limited to 12 pupils and is invitation only.

News Club (Year 6-8)
News club gives pupils the opportunity to watch, discuss and share their opinions on current news topics. Pupils are encouraged to share news stories with the group, particularly those which relate to the school and the wider community.
Card Sharks (Year 6-9)
Pupils in Year 6-9 are welcome to attend this club. Pupils will be learning and teaching each other different card games. From Top Trumps, Uno and IQ cards, to playing cards, club members

will be learning to play a wide range of card games. The club is intended to be relaxed and fun, and an opportunity to make new friends. Please bring along your best card games.
Multicultural Dance Club (Year 4-5)
This vibrant, energetic club embraces dance steps, travelling movements and rhythms from around the world. Pupils have the opportunity to gain an understanding of different dance cultures and learn a range of dance techniques as well as contributing choreographic ideas to create a showcase dance for Harlow’s Multicultural Dance Festival which takes place in Spring 2023.
Chess Club (Year 6-11)
All players welcome – from beginners to Grandmasters! This club aims to provide an inclusive environment for all chess players to practice their skills and deepen their understanding about the tactics of the game.

3D Design Portfolio (Year 11)
This after school session is for Year 11 pupils studying 3D Design and it will be first come first served for their preferred day as Mr Smith can only accept a maximum of 10 pupils for each session. Once one of the days is full, pupils must attend the other day.
Clubs & Activities Spring Term 2023
Book and Film Club (Year 3-5)
The focus of this club will alternate between reading books and watching films. Pupils will discuss the book/film plot and characters as well as their likes/dislikes before going on to write book/film reviews.
French Speaking Club (Year 10-11)
This club runs in the term leading up towards the GCSE French Speaking examination in late April/Early May 2023. Year 11 students have priority during the session and Year 10 students are welcome to join us to get ahead in preparing for their Speaking examination next summer. We will go over past papers for Role-Play and Photo-Cards as well as practise General Conversation questions on all three themes. These sessions give us the opportunity for more 1 to 1 practice and reinforce the skills needed for the Speaking paper. Note: Pupils are allowed to attend every 2 or 3 weeks, as long as their usual teacher is happy for them to do so, and provided the pupil registers with them before entering the club.
