Deck the halls this holiday season with 12 days of energy efficiency tips!

The holiday season has arrived, bringing along extra lights, increased appliance usage, and cooler temperatures in your home. To help you manage this surge in demand, we've put together 12 days of energy efficiency tips that you can easily adopt this festive season.

12 DAYS OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY TIPS:

 Adorn your home with LED holiday lights instead of traditional incandescent bulbs.

 Set a timer to turn off holiday lights at night while you sleep.

 Lower the thermostat when guests arrive to keep energy use in check.

 Close the fireplace damper when there’s no fire burning.

 Ask Santa for a smart or programmable thermostat to enhance energy savings.

 Going out of town? Unplug appliances and electronics to save energy.

 Gifting new electronics or gadgets? Look for the ENERGY STAR® logo.

 Keep the winter chill outside by sealing air leaks around your home.

 Open blinds and curtains during the day to let natural sunlight warm your space.

 Consider rechargeable batteries and chargers as thoughtful stocking stuffers!

 Preparing a holiday feast? Use the oven light to check your dish's progress instead of opening the door.

 When your holiday tree is lit, turn off lamps to enjoy a cozy atmosphere. You can discover additional energy-saving tips, explore our rebate options, and find out more about our new home energy audit program at inlandpower.com/save-energy.

Inland Power is my cooperative!

CA$H BACK Program

An

investment in your co-op!

As an owner-member of Inland Power, a notfor-profit cooperative, our primary mission is to deliver safe and dependable power at cost. Any revenue that exceeds the cost of providing power is either reinvested into the cooperative’s assets or returned to you through our CA$H BACK program, also known as capital credits.

How it works

Annual Review of the CA$H BACK Program

Each year, any margins (revenue exceeding the cost of service) are allocated to active members’ CA$H BACK account. Funds from all other years will continue to be retained by the cooperative and used to replace aging infrastructure, enhance capacity, maintain reliability and manage the operations. This approach helps us keep rates as low as possible while providing you with reliable service. Our team remains committed to transparency and is actively working to mitigate the impacts of cost pressures - always with the goal of delivering high-quality service to our members.

Due to ongoing rate pressures from rising power supply and energy costs, essential infrastructure upgrades, and increasing energy demand, Inland Power will only be retiring capital credits to those who were active members in 1990.

Feel free to contact us at inlandpower@inlandpower.com if you have any questions. We appreciate your membership with Inland Power & Light!

Heading out of town during the holiday season? Set your home to vacation mode and save energy while you’re away! Vacation mode not only helps reduce your energy bills but also offers peace of mind knowing your home is efficiently managed. Before you leave, make sure to adjust your thermostat to a more moderate temperature. Consider investing in smart plugs or timers for your lights to give the appearance that someone is home. Unplug unnecessary electronics to prevent phantom energy usage, and ensure all windows and doors are securely locked.

Remember, preparation is key to a stress-free vacation. Double-check that your security system is functioning correctly, and consider asking a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on your property. If you have pets, ensure they are well-cared for during your absence, either by arranging for a pet sitter or boarding them in a reputable facility. Finally, make a checklist of essential items to pack, such as travel documents, medications, and any special gifts for loved ones you plan to visit. With everything in order, you can relax and fully embrace the festive season, knowing that both your home and holiday plans are in good hands. Safe travels and may your holidays be filled with joy and laughter!
