SmartHub The Center for Member Engagement Inland Power successfully launched SmartHub with its members in June 2015. This upgrade delivers increased customer service options, account information and ease of use to our valued members. SmartHub allows members to have access to complete account information such as: • View billing & payment history • Change your password or personal information on your account • Detailed electric usage information • Report an issue • Pay your bill and manage payment methods • Set up automatic payments • Customize notifications and alert reminders To pay your bills or utilize any other feature with SmartHub, simply go to inlandpower. com and click on “Pay Bill / View Usage” or download the app for your smart device. Below are some examples of how our members are benefiting from this valuable tool.

SmartHub Success Story #2 An Inland Power member contacted our office to let us know that they had just installed a new energy efficient HVAC system in their home. They were surprised that their power bill had remained about the same. Inland Power’s conservation specialist visited the member’s home to evaluate and found that the new HVAC system had not been installed correctly. The member had the installer come back to fix the issues and they were able to login to the SmartHub website to see an immediate reduction in their energy usage. The usage was closer to what they had been expecting.

SmartHub Success Story #1 An Inland Power member contacted our office with a high bill complaint. They are a seasonal member and believed that they had everything turned off in their home and did not understand why their monthly bill was not as low as they thought it should be. After troubleshooting with our conservation department, they narrowed the problem down to possibly a bad well pump or dry well. They started by turning the well breakers off. As you can see from the SmartHub graph above it made an immediate reduction in their energy usage. This powerful tool could show our member immediately that the problem was the pump.

SmartHub Success Story #3 An Inland Power member had been checking his SmartHub account on a frequent basis. He noticed consistent spikes to indicate his irrigation/domestic well was recharging even though he wasn’t using water. He checked out his well and found that one of his pipes was leaking and therefore running constantly. He was able to fix the pipe and see his energy usage stabilize and return to his normal usage.

ENERGY SAFETY School’s Out for the Summer Summer is here and this is a good time for parents and grandparents to share a few electrical safety reminders with their kids or grandchildren. The safety basics checklist includes: • Never touch an outdoor wire with any part of your body, toys or other objects. • Do not climb trees near power lines. • Never climb a utility pole, or play on or around electrical equipment. • Keep electrical toys at least 10 feet away from pools or wet surfaces. Never enter an electric substation for any reason – not even to rescue a pet. • Fly kites and other toys in open areas and away from trees and power lines. • Don’t try to retrieve balloons, kites or other objects from power lines or other electrical equipment. Instead, call Inland Power at (509) 747-7151.
