EXECUTIVE BOARD UPDATES

HappyfirstdayofDecember,IndianaKey Clubbers!

WebmasterJacobLee

As your District Webmaster, I have been quite busy promoting DLC 2023 on the District's social media platforms and website. Additionally, I worked with all the Marketing Subcommittees to initiate other social media promotions from the District such as Takeover Tuesdays and Day in the Life Reels. Outside of Key Club, I have been waiting for college admission decisions. For the holidays, I plan to stay at home and eat big meals with my family! If you have questions, send me an email or text!

Hieveryone!

Sec/TresMayaNarayan

Since the last update, I have been working really hard with college applications, prescreen videos, AP/IB classes, and singing competitions. Speaking of competitions, I recently competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (aka NATS) National Student Auditions and won 1st place in the Music Theatre division and 2nd in the Classical division! I am super excited for the Holiday break as all of my college applications will be done and I will be able to shift my focus to the school musical. My high school’s production will be The Addams Family, and I could not be more excited!

EXECUTIVE BOA

HiIndiana!

It's Governor Louis here, and I hope all of you are getting ready for the holiday season (I know I am!!). Recently, I've been working on promotional material for my Governor's Project, supporting the board as we enter the fourth quarter, and applying to colleges! I'm happy to say that I've been accepted to my top choice, Indiana University Bloomington! I'm ready for winter break, spending time with my family, and the new year.

Governor'sProject

The 2022 2023 Indiana District Governor's Project is well underway! I am on a mission to raise $2500 for The Trevor Project and need your help! The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. I am dedicating the rest of their term to continuously fundraising for and raising awareness of the Trevor Project. We have 100 days to reach our goal! For every $100 raised to my Governor’s Project, a Lt. Governor of your choosing will do a challenge and post it on social media. These challenges can range from the ice bucket challenge to showcasing a special talent. Each division in the District is racing to reach its individual goal of $135. KeyLeader

RECAPS

Key Leader was held November 4-6th at Camp Tecumseh. Here, attendees were able to meet and bond with new people from around the state who shared the same interest: helping others. At Key Leader, the lessons focused on the main aspects that make up a Key Leader: service leadership, personal integrity, personal growth, respect, building community, and pursuit of excellence. Campers did multiple leadership exercises, along with creating neighborhoods out of small groups of people. The neighborhoods were tasked with multiple activities that all revolved around being a

Key Leader. The many icebreakers that the attendees did allowed for many new friendships to be made. During free time, campers were able to do many of the activities that were offered around the camp, such as archery, rock climbing, slides, and much more. Key Leader was an amazing weekend filled with many new amazing memories!

Potawatomi Lt. G Ella Freimuth

The INDB had a meeting from November 12th to the 13th. Since this was the last time we would meet before January Board Meeting, we had the opportunity to incorporate the holiday spirit by participating in a white elephant gift exchange, wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, and playing holiday-themed games! Alongside all of the fun we have, it was a very productive board meeting. We heard an International Update from Hope, our International Trustee, had committee meetings, and learned many different skills, like how to design effect graphics, how to find a successor, and more!

FallRally

RECAPS

Fall Rally was held on November 19th and it was a success! Attendees had the opportunity to attend programming sessions catered to their respective grades, meet various Key Clubbers from all over Indiana, and take part in the many attractions at Zip City. They were able to zipline, climb a rock

wall, grapple through a ropes course, and even battle fellow Indiana Key Club members in a match of laser tag! Programming sessions included information on methods for getting more involved, tips for award applications, and an explanation of Governor Louis’ Governor Project!

Fall Rally was a wonderful way to get involved for people all over the Indiana District and it certainly created outstanding new memories!

The Global Engagement Rally was a blast! We had the opportunity to hear from the Keynote Speaker, CEO of eMerge Americas and past Key Club International VicePresident, Felice Gorordo, and attend the two of the following workshops: "Keys for Key Club: Overcoming Obstacles", "Key Club in Wonderland", "Service Around the World", and "Applying to Your Dream School." We also heard from a Key Club in the newly established Key Club Philippine Luzon District! The rally was finalized with the International Council the theme for ICON 2023: "Lights, camera, and service!"

COMMITTEE UPDATES EVENTS & PLANNING

Hello! The Events & Planning Committee has been working a lot on the District Leadership Convention (DLC) coming up in a few months! I would like to start off by saying how proud I am of this committee! We have worked so hard, and I cannot wait to see all of our efforts pay off in February (although it may be a

little overwhelming now haha)! Just a brief description of what we’ve been working on includes finding a keynote speaker, getting the awards and registration packet ready (which you all should’ve gotten, so if not contact your LtG!), and planning workshops and activities for the weekend. I highly encourage you all to come to DLC to have a great time! A little sneak peek… there’s going to be a BIG, FUN event this year, so you’ll have to come and find out what it’ll be (you won’t regret it :)).

MEMBER DEVELOPMENT

The Member Development Committee has been working hard to complete our directives, andI reallyappreciatethetimetheydedicatetoour committeework. We've been aiding future Key Clubbers on chartering clubs, and tracking interest from Kiwanis Clubs to sponsor new Key Clubs, recording an informative “All About Key Club” video for new members with essential information that every Key Clubber should know

(Our preferred partners and charities, our place in the Kiwanis Family, and more!), and editing and posting Instagram “Day In The Life” reels and “Takeover Tuesday” stories. Additionally, we have created and implemented a new member recognition program (flip to page 11 for more information). Overall, I am extremely proud of the work the committee has completed, and I am excited to see what this last quarter brings us!

COMMITTEE UPDATES

SERVICE

Committeeworkhasbeengoingwell!Being newly appointed as committee chair has been a lot, but my committee members are fantastic and have been working diligently to get everything done. Our Service Project Directory has been updated, so be on the lookout for new service projects ;). Along with that, there is a new parliamentary procedure guide! This can be very useful when running for office or even just in your club. Our marketing lead has done a fantastic job on the graphics you see being posted to the InKeyClub Instagram! I am so grateful for this committee and how motivated they are to get everything done.

K-FAMILY AND CONNECTIONS

Thispastthirdquarterwasverybusyforthe KiwanisFamilyandConnectionscommittee! Here’s what we have been up to: the Kiwanis Family and Connections subcommittee has been working on Kiwanis and Key Club Lieutenant Governor collaboration, reaching out to other Kiwanis Family Governors and making materials so others can learn about the Kiwanis Family! Our Preferred Partners and Charities subcommittee

has been very collaborative this quarter! They worked with Events and Planning to find partners that would be interested in attending DLC and they worked with the Service Project Directory subcommittee to create projects for the directory that work with our preferred partners and charities! New Ventures continued communication with Asian SLP clubs in Japan and South Korea to create inter district connections! Our committee Marketing Representative created graphics for the District social media pages about the Kiwanis family and brainstormed a bunch of new Tik Tok ideas! Our committee is so excited for this next quarter, and I cannot wait to see what we accomplish!

KIWANIS FAMILY

The Kiwanis Family is a global organization focused on volunteer work and bettering our community. Alongside Key Club, the Kiwanis Family consists of Kiwanis Clubs, Circle K Clubs, Aktion Clubs, Builders Clubs, and K Kids!

A connection to your local Kiwanis Club can be extremely beneficial to your Key Club. They can offer assistance in fundraisers, provide resources to plan volunteering events, and even participate in your service projects! They wish to see your club achieve its full potential, so they might even help send some of your members to events like DLC (District Leadership Convention) or ICON (International Convention)! FunFact:

TherearemanywaystofindyourlocalKiwanisClub! Ask your club advisor if your club was sponsored by a Kiwanis Club when being chartered, and if so, ask them if they have any contact information for the club! The contact information should also be included in the chartering documents.

If your club was not sponsored by a Kiwanis Club, ask your advisor if they know of a local club. If not, visit https://www.kiwanis.org/clubs/find a club to find one yourself! WhencontactingyourKiwanisClub, don'tforgettointroduceyourself, yourclub, andyourintentions!
