EXPLORE ARTFUL ENTERTAINMENT

Starlight Theatre delivers showstopping entertainment in one of KC’s most iconic venues.

Kansas City hits a high note this summer with a performing arts scene that’s as vibrant as the season itself. From Broadway blockbusters under the stars to intimate stage productions, the city offers a lineup that invites visitors to sit back, look up, and be thoroughly entertained. Whether you’re planning a night out or building an entire arts-filled itinerary, KC’s stages are ready.

Broadway Under the Stars

Nothing says summer in Kansas City quite like a night at Starlight Theatre. This iconic outdoor venue anchors the season with a lineup of touring Broadway hits, concerts, and crowd-pleasing favorites. Set in a lush park, it’s the kind of place where you can watch a musical as the sun sets and the stars come out—equal parts performance and experience. Arrive early for a picnic or stroll the grounds, then settle in as the lights dim and the stage comes alive.

Architectural Icon, World-Class Sound

A performance at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is as much about the setting as the show. Inside Helzberg Hall and Muriel Kauffman Theatre, summer programming includes special concerts, visiting orchestras, and one-night-only events—from symphony pops to touring dance companies. The acoustics are worldrenowned, and every seat feels close to the action, making it easy to get swept up in the moment from the first note to the final bow.

At the Kauffman Center, striking architecture meets acoustics so precise, every note resonates.

Historic Stage, Modern Lineup

Downtown’s Midland Theatre keeps the energy high with a steady stream of concerts, comedians, and touring productions. Summer 2026 brings a mix of nostalgic acts and current favorites, making it an easy pick for a spontaneous night out. The ornate interior adds a touch of glamour, no matter what’s on stage, while its central location makes it easy to pair a show with dinner or drinks nearby.

The Midland Theatre’s stunning architecture turns every performance into a visual experience.

The Ruby Room at MTH offers a front-row feel from every seat in the house.

Up Close & Musical

For a more personal theater experience, Music Theater Heritage (MTH) offers three distinct ways to enjoy the show. Summer revues and themed productions take the Main Stage with polished energy, while the Grand Theater delivers a classic, full-stage experience. For something more intimate, the Ruby Room presents cabaretstyle performances where storytelling through song takes center stage in a cozy setting—ensuring every note, lyric, and moment lands with impact.
