Justice Clarence Thomas Silent For Over Three Years
News Service
Justice Clarence Thomas on Wednesday asked his first questions at Supreme Court arguments in more than three years. Arguments were almost over in a case about racial discrimination in the South when the court’s only African-American member and lone Southerner piped up. For the first 55 minutes of a Supreme Court argument Wednesday about racial discrimination in jury selection, the justices seemed united in their view that a white Mississippi prosecutor had violated the Constitution in his determined efforts to exclude black jurors from the six trials of Curtis Flowers, who was convicted of murdering four people in a furniture store. By way of background, listeners were able to understand that the issue of parking appears to be at the center of the issue between MSG, the City of Inglewood, the mayor and the Clippers organization. When MSG acquired The Forum and subsequently completed a $100 million renovation, the venue brought favorable attention to Inglewood with its revitalization as it established itself as the number one

Since that time, MSG has taken extraordinary steps and launched numerous legal obstacles and challenges to stop the pending Clippers arena from being built in Inglewood. MSG alleges that the mayor did not act in the correct spirit or in good faith when they agreed to a termination agreement with the city, related to land that would later be a part of the Clippers arena. What is clear is that MSG did not and does not want another venue that may provide a competitive condition and possibly encroach on their bookings at the Forum. MSG has caused to be distributed flyers; press alerts, mail pieces and other propaganda intended to cast unfavorable publicity on the proposed Clippers arena, citing unmanageable traffic conditions, and others.
