Primary Victory Belongs to ‘Generations of Women,’ Clinton Says
illary Clinton made history Tuesday night when she won the California primary election, making her the first presumptive major-party female nominee. Clinton defeated her closest Democratic rival Bernie Sanders 55.8% to 43.2%. “Thanks to you, we reached a milestone,” she told excited supporters in Brooklyn. She added: “Tonight’s victory is not about one person, it belongs to generations of women and men who sacrificed and made this moment possible.” Mathematically, it is no longer possible for Sanders to reach the 2,383 delegates needed to win the nomination.
