Man Killed, Another Wanted in Westchester Marijuana Shop Robbery

ne man was killed and another was being sought Wednesday at a medical marijuana dispensary in Westchester. The incident, described as a botched robbery attempt, occurred at the Nature’s Cure Inc. dispensary, at 5300 W. Century Blvd. shortly after 12pm. Gunfire was exchanged with the two men and a security guard. One of the men was struck in the stomach. The second man, wearing a beige shirt, green pants and a brown baseball cap, fled in a black BMW, according to authorities. He was described as a black man in his 30s. The victim managed to walk to a nearby Westin Hotel and collapsed. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. He was only identified as a man in his 30s. Voters approved medical marijuana dispensaries back in 1996. It has been a thorn in the side of law enforcement ever since. Intended to make it easier for patients with legitimate

nglewood motorists who frequently drive through the intersection of Century and Aviation boulevards will need to temporarily find a new route next month. Metro announced this week that Century will be shut down for two days to allow construction workers to demolish an old railroad bridge. The structure which overlooks Century at Aviation will make way for the new Crenshaw to LAX light rail line, which will eventually connect the Metro Green and Expo lines in 2019.

Aviation Bridge Century is one of two major roadways to Los Angeles International Airport that will be closed from July 25-28, east of LAX and west of the 405 freeway. The weekend demolition project is expected to last 57 consecutive hours, beginning Friday, July 25 at 9pm, and re-opening by 6 am on Monday, July 28. A detour will route traffic north of the bridge to Manchester Avenue before dropping back down to Century Boulevard on either side of Aviation Boulevard. Construction crews will widen the bridge to allow for two-way train traffic at the future rail site.
