Hall’s Request to Audit IUSD Approved
C
alifornia’s Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) approved an audit request Wednesday by Senator Isadore Hall, III (DSouth Bay) of the state’s receivership of the Inglewood Unified School District. The Inglewood Unified School District currently serves over 11,000 students in Los Angeles County and supports 10 elementary, two K-8, two middle, and three high schools, along with a continuation high school. In 2012, the Inglewood Unified School District was facing fiscal insolvency. The Legislature approved and the Governor signed into law SB 533 (by former Sen. Roderick Wright) which provided a $55 million dollar emergency loan to the District and placed it under state receivership. The legislation also spelled out a pathway to help the District return to fiscal solvency, improve test scores and help Inglewood students find a pathway to college or a career.
