Annual Earth Day Festival: Fun with a Purpose
O
n April 16, the City of Inglewood partnered with the Social Justice Learning Institute (SJLI) and Consolidated Disposal Service (CDS) to host the 6th annual Earth Day Festival. The festival was sponsored by West Basin Municipal Water District. Consolidated Disposal Services and Inglewood Today were supporters of the event. It was a fun-filled day, which brought the community together with a variety of speakers, food and information vendors, demonstrations, live entertainment, and interactive activities for the entire family. Demonstrations focused on environmental sustainability, water conservation, and healthy living. (Continued on page 11)

Youth Baseball Returns to Rogers Park

he baseball diamond that’s laid vacant for quite some time now over at Rogers Park, inherited a well-deserved makeover this past weekend. Club 42, under the leadership of John Branca (co-executor of The Michael Jackson Estate, and nephew of Ralph Branca, the last living member of the historic 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers during Jackie Robinson’s rookie season in major league baseball), celebrated the life and legacy of Hall of Fame Major League Baseball icon, Jackie Robinson on the annual Jackie Robin(Continued on page 2)
