MOBILITY The maximum travel time that students are willing to take is, on average, 30 minutes (78%)
In terms of means of transportation, it is clear that future employees still prefer to go to work by car. However, the following alternative modes of transportation came in a (nearly shared) second place: by bicycle, by public transport (train) and by foot.
The accessibility of the office turned out to be the most important criterion (obviously next to job content/sector/wage) for choosing a particular employer. The importance of accessibility received an average rating of 9.5/10.
Only 15% of the students are willing to travel more than 45 minutes (one way). The maximum travel time they are willing to take is 30 minutes on average (78%).
53% of the surveyed students indicated that their ideal office environment is located in a city centre, close to a train station and other facilities such as shops and restaurants. Structura.Biz / Figures & Findings
identity
We asked the students which aspects of the way of working would convince them to choose for a particular employer. Students gave preference to employers who offer flexibility (flexible hours, autonomy in agenda filling, teleworking and attention to a healthy work-life balance).
In our survey, only 10% indicated they would like to work more than two days a week from home. For 90% of the students, 2 days a week at home represents a maximum.
Students are concerned about starting in a company where teleworking is the norm at more than 50% of the time.
Almost all surveyed indicated that they are worried about starting in a company where teleworking is the norm at more than 50% of the time, because this will have an impact on their motivation and focus. The main reasons are the need for (non-digital) guidance, need for social contact with colleagues, need for a separate workplace away from home.

Flexibility
The use of sustainable materials and techniques in the building proved to be a decisive criteria when choosing a future employer (alongside job content/sector/wages). Sustainibility came in second place, just after the accessibility of the office. A trendy interior and the look & feel of the office came respectively in fifth and sixth position. The importance of a building with chariacter was only rated at 6.4/10 on average.
The survey also revealed that students behold the office first and foremost as a meeting place (with clients, informal contacts with colleagues). The majority also indicated that the office is an essential place for them to stay focused and concentrated.
37% of the students opted for an activity-based office, 31% for a private office and only 9% for a completely open-space model.
When given a choice between open space, private offices and activitybased offices, a large percentage of students opted for an activity-based office (37%), closely followed by a private office (31%). Only 9% opted for a completely open-space model. The top 5 most important facilities for students are (ranked from most important to less important): sufficient parking spaces for cars, sufficient outdoor space (terrace, park, patio, etc.), a coffee corner or any other space to take a break, sufficient parking spaces for bicycles, sufficient meeting rooms and separate work areas.
