RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS
CASA CAJUN The concept of Casa Cajun is creating a space that hugs a symbolic tree present on the site. From this, the central patio is born - the heart of the house, it serves as a space that articulates the different parts of the surrounding concept. The composition of the five elements and the integration of the environment enhance the rapport between nature and family gathered in the space.

CASA ARTA V IA
C A SA ESCONDID A In this project, the client sought to incorporate five buildings in an environment of a great natural wealth, achieving shelter and harmonious adaptation with the use of landscape, so that from any point of the houses, the inhabitants can experience the sea, the beach, and the sun at their maximum intensity. With large terraces, open spaces, large windows, and a choice of natural materials like wood and stone, this project achieved full integration with the concept.

C ASA MAGENTA A stunning Guanacaste tree was the central element from which the whole house was developed. This element transformed into the main organizing axis of the walkthrough, where the elements of water and stone complement it to generate a welcoming point of access. Before entering the house, a white wall, which allows the reflection of the shadows from the Guanacaste, opens itself to introduce us to the main hall.

CA S A T I TA Through use of materials like stone, wood, and concrete, this project is a contemporary interpretation of a more traditional deisgn style. It is a house that intends to awaken the senses by creating spaces that allow contact with nature in every space of the house. The use of terraces and corridors, as well as a distribution that invites the garden to become a part of the home’s interior, is intended to generate transitional spaces in which one can control the climatic impact, and thus live in harmony with the environment.

KOHLER
Casa Santa Teresa was conceived in an atmosphere of total freedom - where the forest and the ocean are the main protagonists. Seeking to integrate the environment with existing living species allowed us to create a project where the concepts of re-use and re-interpretation mark the course of the design. The biggest challenge was restoration over demolition. One of the most important decisions was to incorporate the terraces as a means of transition between interior and exterior; this followed by the choice to use natural materials such as wood

CASA J J BAJA
A farm house designed for a special family who wanted to feel an extraordinary relationship with the gardens and the immediate context. Casa JJ represents the importance of this connection between the inside and the outside. Diferent extractions, big windos, perforated walls and a big terrace are some of the elements that helped enrich this concept. 1 st Floor Plan PLANTA DE DISTRIBUCION ARQUITECTONICA ESCALA 1/50

C ASA A D A home that feels like an everyday retreat, Casa Aronson is a spectacular modern property characterized by the soft drama of it’s curvilinear forms. It sits atop a hill and has impressive views of the surrounding San Jose Landscape. The design process of Casa Aronson was done with the client’s aesthetic preferences in mind. Even though they wanted the modern look with lots of glass, they also had a fondness for wood and wanted the home to have a cozy feeling. 1 st Floor Plan

CASA S ALAS
Casa Salas is a clear reflection of KMA’s signature designs whereby we approach architecture by creating spaces that allow for living in harmony with nature. Located in Atenas, Costa Rica, this residential property is one of a tropical contemporary look at a grand scale, however through our careful design of rooms in the home and selection of materials, we have created a space that allows for a cozier family feel, something we like to call “contemporary comfort”. The Salas house is situated between three existing trees, one of which is a Guapinol tree that was sown by the grandparents of the owner. This particular tree has a very symbolic meaning to the family as it is a connection to their ancestors. Hence it was an essential element for our team to consider when designing the home.

LOTUS HACI ENDA Located between green corridors and a volcanic rock wall that embraces it, Lotus Hacienda is born of the idea of creating a space in which existing elements in the site become the soul of its massive walls. Extracted from the site and worked by craftsmen, the stone adds character to this beautiful refuge and facilitates its integration with its environment.

This project consists of a refurbishment, which has as its main objective to preserve the architectural legacy of the typical Costa Rican home. One of the concepts was to maintain the suggestion of this in the house’s original design. Thus, the design is based on an existing building which rescues the perimeter of the home, as well as the

North Pearl is the first project that KMD Group has embarked on in Canada. It is our most idealistic project where we have designed a home meant to be an oasis amidst the forest. North Pearl is a clear reflection of KMD’s signature designs whereby we approach architecture by creating spaces that allow for living in harmony with nature. In collaboration with a qualified local builder and local engineers in Canada, we have designed a home that is fitted for the Canadian climate whilst being tropically inspired in it’s aesthetics
