Arenas del Mar is a luxury five-star beach front resort in Costa Rica. It is located in the ever-popular tourist attraction, The Manuel Antonio National Park. The scope of this project included rejuvenating and modernizing the look and feel of the pool area, reception, and bar. One of the main features that KMD Group was involved in was designing a custom swing. This swing has become a popular attraction at the resort with guests favouring it for their social media photos and thus giving it an iconic status.
ARENAS DEL MAR SWING
Along with the swing at the Arenas Del Mar Resort, KMD Group was also hired to design custom furniture for the some of the common areas at the resort. The sleek strong lines of this furniture set are complemented by the combination of different materials. The modern wood pieces breath new life into the space and the stools feature generous padding which add a softer element to the set. It is a cool and contremporary addition to the hotel.
ARENAS DEL MAR FURNITURE
Tasked with upgrading and creating a refreshing reception space for the Arenas Del Mar hotel. Our team created this boat shaped reception desk as one of the ways to freshen up the space. The feel of the desk is very tropical and really is the perfect visual welcome for guests arriving at the resort for their tropical getaway. As well, the lighting fixtures were specifically designed to add a fresh tropical feeling to the space.
ARENAS DEL MAR LOBBY
Santo Katrin is a restaurant in Costa Rica that offers fine Mexican dining in the popular and urban MultiPlaza shopping centre of the city of Escazu. The vision for the design was to create a restaurant that pays homage to Mexican culture and more specifically “Día de los Muertos” which translated to English means “Day of the Dead”. This is a revered Mexican holiday that celebrates the dead and is a very strong part of the culture. In order to do this we had to create unique furniture elements that were playful in nature such as these chairs with colorful woven backs.
SANTO KATRIN - ESCAZU
KMD Group was hired to design this restaurant that is part of the Santo Katrin restaurant chain. We designed and utilized colorful furniture pieces to create a fun atmosphere and a one of a kind cheerful space inspired by Mexican culture. The style of the furniture was inspired by traditional Mexican tacquerias.
SANTO KATRIN - OXIGENA
This yoga and meditation centre is all about clarity, peace of mind and tranquility. It is for these reasons that we needed to have a neutral and clean design for the interior. KMD Group did this by sticking with a simple colour palette for the interior. A few times however, pops of colour were used only for details. It is a simple and contemporary interior design that is balanced by the use of wood textures which were included in order to add warmth to the space. Our furniture design for the space involved utilizing interesting shapes to juxtapose against the clean design of the space. This provides a feeling of both simplicity and customization.
