Introduction The structure of Baale Mane is based around the following framework. This will be implemented by all Baale staff with the support of the trustees. The girls have been trained in these procedures.

The four categories of Survival, Protection, Development and Participation are central our budgeting and programmes, and an updated framework has been created to increase their integration into the daily life at Baale.

This framework aims to clarify four elements: 1. What we promise the Baale Girls 2. What we expect from the Baale Girls 3. Rewards for exemplary behaviour 4. Consequences for negative behaviour This booklet aims to briefly outline the Baale Mane framework. This system may change with time, dependent on practicalities and feedback.

In order to ensure that the Baale girls are living up to our expectations and being appreciated for the effort they put in, we have developed a Rewards and Consequences system.

This will be primarily implemented by the Care Workers, with support from the Head of Operations. The other senior staff and the Indian and UK trustees will be kept up to date with any developments and will be sent the list of girls each week who receive rewards or consequences.

Why: To nurture and resource the girls of Baale Mane for a self-sustaining life

Rewards Baale girls who show exemplary behaviour in one of the four categories will be awarded a small prize at the rewards ceremony each week. There may be more than one girl for each category if multiple girls have displayed excellent behaviour. These will be presented by the Head of Operations, and photos of the girls who receive these rewards will be sent to all trustees in the Weekly Summary.

Consequences For any girls who are not behaving in the way we would expect them to, a consequences system will be implemented. A three strikes system will be used, where the girls can be given a maximum of 3 strikes each week by the Care Workers. If a girl has received 3 strikes, their consequence will be to miss TV time on Saturday evening and be sent to the reflection room to fill out a form with the following questions: 1. What happened?

3. What have I learnt?

Outcomes Through the resources we provide for the girls and the behaviour we expect from them, we hope to instill in them the following values and outcomes: Survival: A childhood in a comfortable and safe home Healthy bodies and diets Protection: Awareness about safety and ability to protect themselves Knowledge of the importance of health and hygiene Ability to travel safely Development: Academic skills and qualifications Knowledge of their chosen career path Participation: Holistic mindset and creative thinking Life skills including soft skills, sexual health and job readiness Confidence to lead a self sustaining adult life
