POWER MOVES 102 | How to Create a Business Succession Plan: A Guide to Getting Started 108 | The New Rules of Influence

JULY / AUGUST 2026

Summer has a way of reminding us what matters.

Not through grand announcements or carefully crafted plans, but through moments. A shared meal that lingers long after dessert. A familiar song that instantly transports us to another time. The laughter of friends gathered around a table. The warmth of a sunset that seems to last forever.

As I reflect on this issue of InFluential Magazine, I am reminded that the most meaningful luxuries in life are often the simplest. They cannot be purchased, collected, or displayed. They are experiences. They are memories. They are the people with whom we choose to share our lives.

That spirit is woven throughout these pages. You will meet remarkable individuals who are shaping their communities through creativity, craftsmanship, leadership, and service. You will discover destinations worth exploring, tables worth gathering around, and stories that remind us of the beauty that exists all around us when we take the time to notice it. You will also find something else.

Permission.

Permission to slow down.

Permission to linger over conversation. To call an old friend. To host the dinner you’ve been meaning to host. To order dessert. To take the scenic route home. To savor a favorite song with the windows down and nowhere particular to be.

In a culture that often celebrates busyness, summer invites us to embrace presence. Perhaps that is why this season remains so beloved. It reminds us that a meaningful life is not measured solely by accomplishments, but by experiences. By relationships. By the memories we create and the joy we share along the way.

This issue is filled with beautiful fashion, inspiring stories, unforgettable flavors, and extraordinary people. Yet my hope is when you reach the final page, what stays with you most is a renewed appreciation for the life you are already living. Because the most influential life is not necessarily the loudest one.

It is the one filled with purpose, gratitude, curiosity, kindness, and connection. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. Thank you for supporting the businesses, organizations, artists, and visionaries who make our communities stronger.

Most of all, thank you for inviting InFluential Magazine into your home, your travels, and your quiet moments. On behalf of our contributors, partners, and creative team, I wish you a summer filled with laughter, discovery, friendship, and unforgettable

SMALL LUXURIES

The Little Things That Make Life Beautiful

LUXURY HAS AN INTERESTING WAY OF DISGUISING ITSELF.

We often associate it with grand vacations, designer labels, and milestone celebrations. Yet, if we’re honest, the moments that linger in our memories are frequently much simpler. They are the quiet rituals and thoughtful details that elevate an ordinary day into something worth savoring.

A fresh bouquet of flowers picked up on the way home simply because they made you smile. The first sip of coffee before the rest of the house awakens. The familiar scratch of pen against paper as you jot down a note of gratitude. A favorite fragrance that instantly lifts your mood. The playlist that transforms an evening drive into a private concert.

These small luxuries are not extravagant. They are intentional.

Perhaps that is why they matter so much.

In a culture that constantly encourages us to chase more, bigger, and better, we can overlook the abundance already within our reach. Beauty is not reserved for special occasions. It lives in the details we choose to notice and the habits we choose to cultivate.

A linen napkin set out on a Tuesday evening dinner. The candle lit simply because the day was long. A square of artisan chocolate enjoyed without guilt. A favorite chair by the window where you pause to read a chapter before bed.

These moments invite us to slow down. They remind us that pleasure need not be postponed until retirement, vacation, or some future season of life.

It is available now.

There is something quietly revolutionary about refusing to rush through our days. About deciding that ordinary moments deserve care and attention. About creating beauty not because guests are coming, but because we are home.

The truth is, a well lived life is rarely built upon dramatic gestures. More often, it is assembled through hundreds of small choices repeated faithfully over time.

Choosing fresh flowers. Choosing the scenic route. Choosing to call an old friend. Choosing the good china Choosing joy.

As you move through this season of long evenings and sun drenched afternoons, may you give yourself permission to embrace the little things that enrich your days.

After all, luxury isn’t always about having more. Sometimes, it’s simply about noticing what has been there all along. l

BEAUTY IS NOT RESERVED FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS. IT LIVES IN THE DETAILS WE CHOOSE TO NOTICE AND THE HABITS WE CHOOSE TO CULTIVATE.

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN ENTERTAINING CAME WITH A LONG LIST OF RULES.

THE MODERN HOST

HOW TO CREATE GATHERINGS PEOPLE ACTUALLY REMEMBER

The silver had to be polished. The place cards had to be handwritten. The menu had to impress. Somewhere along the way, many of us decided it was simply easier not to invite anyone over at all.

That may be one of the great losses of modern life.

In an era when so much of our communication happens through text messages, social media updates, and hurried exchanges, genuine connection has become one of life’s most meaningful luxuries. The good news?

Being a memorable host has less to do with perfection and more to do with presence.

The best gatherings are rarely the most elaborate. More often, they are the ones where guests leave feeling seen, welcomed, and glad they came.

Set the Mood, Not the Standard

The pressure to create a pictureperfect experience can keep people from entertaining altogether. Forget that. Your guests are not arriving with clipboards and scorecards. They are coming to spend time with you.

A thoughtfully curated playlist playing softly in the background, candles flickering on the table, and comfortable seating often accomplish more than an extravagant centerpiece. Whether you are hosting a backyard dinner, a wine night with friends, or a casual Sunday brunch, atmosphere matters.

The goal is not to impress people.

The goal is to put them at ease.

Feed People Well, Not Excessively

Hospitality is not measured by the number of dishes you prepare.

A beautifully arranged charcuterie board, a signature cocktail or mocktail, fresh fruit, and one or two crowd pleasing favorites are often enough. Guests remember flavor, creativity, and thoughtfulness far more than they remember whether you served five courses.

Don’t be afraid to accept help, either. If someone offers to bring dessert, let them. Entertaining should feel joyful, not exhausting

Introduce People Like You Mean It

One of the most gracious things a host can do is bridge the gap between strangers.

Instead of saying, “This is Sarah,” offer something more meaningful.

“Sarah recently started her own business and is passionate about animal rescue.”

“Jerry has the most incredible stories about growing up in Dayton.”

Thoughtful introductions create connection and provide people with an easy place to begin a conversation.

Long after guests forget what they ate, they often remember the people they met around your table.

Embrace Imperfection

The roast may take longer than expected. Someone might spill red wine. The weather may force everyone indoors. None of it matters.

The hosts we remember most are not the ones who executed every detail flawlessly. They are the ones who laughed easily, adapted gracefully, and made everyone feel comfortable.

People rarely expect perfection from others.

Sometimes the quietest person in the room simply needs an invitation into the conversation.

Hospitality is less about entertaining and more about noticing.

It’s paying attention. It’s making room. It’s creating a space where people can exhale.

The Real Secret

Years from now, no one will remember whether your napkins matched your table runner.

They will remember how your home made them feel.

What they do appreciate is authenticity.

Make People Feel Welcome

Offer a drink when guests arrive. Introduce them to others. Check in occasionally to make sure everyone feels included.

They will remember the laughter that drifted from the kitchen, the stories shared around the table, and the comfort of being welcomed exactly as they were.

Perhaps that is the new etiquette.

Not striving for perfection but extending kindness.

Not performing hospitality but practicing it.

Because in a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, opening our homes and hearts to one another may be one of the most influential things we do.

And that is always worth celebrating. l

THE INFLUENTIAL TABLE

A Summer Evening to Remember A Four Course Dinner Designed to Gather

SOME OF LIFE’S MOST MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS HAPPEN AROUND THE TABLE. THE INFLUENTIAL TABLE CELEBRATES THE JOY OF GATHERING WITH THOUGHTFULLY CURATED MENUS DESIGNED TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER, ONE COURSE AT A TIME.

At InFluential Magazine, we believe the table is where life happens. It is where stories are shared, milestones are celebrated, and relationships deepen. Whether your gathering includes two people or twelve, may this meal inspire you to slow down, savor the season, and make room for joy.

First Course

Burrata & Heirloom Tomato Salad

Creamy burrata, peak-season heirloom tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of olive oil create a first course that is both elegant and effortless.

Ingredients

• 2 balls fresh burrata cheese

• 4 heirloom tomatoes, sliced

• ½ cup fresh basil leaves

• 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

• 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze

• Flaky sea salt

• Freshly cracked black pepper

• Crusty artisan bread, sliced

Preparation

Arrange tomato slices on a serving platter. Place the burrata in the center. Scatter basil leaves over the tomatoes and drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Season generously with sea salt and black pepper. Serve immediately with warm toasted bread.

InFluential Wine Pairing Sauvignon Blanc

Bright, crisp, and refreshing, Sauvignon Blanc cuts beautifully through the richness of the burrata while complementing the acidity of ripe tomatoes and the freshness of basil. Look for notes of citrus, green apple, and grapefruit.

Why it works: The wine’s vibrant acidity balances the creaminess of the cheese without overpowering the delicate flavors of the dish.

Second Course

Lemon Herb Shrimp with Parmesan Orzo

Garlic, lemon, fresh herbs, and tender shrimp create a dish that feels luxurious without being heavy.

Ingredients

• 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

• 1 tablespoon olive oil

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 shallot, finely chopped

• Zest of 1 lemon

• Juice of ½ lemon

• 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

• Salt and pepper to taste

Parmesan Orzo

• 1 cup orzo pasta

• 2 cups chicken broth

• ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

• 1 tablespoon butter

Preparation

1. Cook orzo in chicken broth until tender. Stir in butter and Parmesan.

2. Meanwhile, sauté garlic and shallot in olive oil over medium heat. Add shrimp, lemon zest, lemon juice, parsley, salt, and pepper. Cook until shrimp turn pink, approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Serve over Parmesan orzo.

InFluential Wine Pairing Unoaked Chardonnay

Without the heaviness of oak, this Chardonnay offers notes of pear, lemon, and white flowers that enhance the brightness of the shrimp and the creamy richness of the orzo.

Why it works: The wine’s freshness mirrors the citrus in the dish while its subtle creaminess complements the Parmesan.

Third Course

Grilled Filet Medallions with Herb Butter & Roasted Vegetables

The evening’s centerpiece arrives with perfectly grilled filet medallions topped with herb butter and accompanied by seasonal roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

• 4 filet medallions (5–6 ounces each)

• Salt and freshly cracked black pepper

• 2 tablespoons olive oil

Herb Butter

• 4 tablespoons softened butter

• 1 tablespoon chopped rosemary

• 1 tablespoon chopped thyme

• 1 clove garlic, minced

Vegetables

• 1 bunch asparagus

• 8 baby carrots

• 1 red onion, cut into wedges

• Olive oil, salt and pepper

Preparation

1. Toss vegetables with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast at 425°F for 20–25 minutes.

2. Season filets generously. Grill 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, adjusting for desired doneness.

3. Mix herb butter ingredients and top each filet just before serving.

InFluential Wine Pairing Cabernet Sauvignon

A classic pairing for filet, Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure, depth, and notes of blackberry, dark cherry, cedar, and spice.

Why it works: The wine’s tannins soften against the richness of the beef, creating a harmonious and indulgent experience.

Fourth Course

Olive Oil Cake with Fresh Berries & Mascarpone

A light yet sophisticated finish to the evening, this Mediterraneaninspired dessert celebrates the sweetness of summer.

Ingredients

• 1 cup granulated sugar

• 3 eggs

• ¾ cup extra virgin olive oil

• 1 cup whole milk

• 1½ cups all-purpose flour

• 1½ teaspoons baking powder

• ½ teaspoon salt

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

• ½ cup mascarpone cheese

• 1 cup whipped cream

• Fresh strawberries

• Blueberries

• Raspberries

• Fresh mint

• Powdered sugar

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch cake pan.

2. Whisk sugar and eggs until pale. Add olive oil, milk, and vanilla. Fold in flour, baking powder, and salt. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

3. Cool completely. Top with mascarpone blended with whipped cream. Garnish with berries, mint, and a light dusting of powdered sugar.

InFluential Wine Pairing Prosecco

Light, effervescent, and celebratory, Prosecco offers notes of apple, pear, and citrus blossom that enhance the berries without overwhelming the dessert.

Why it works: The bubbles cleanse the palate while adding a festive finish to the meal.

For the Hose

• Prep Ahead: The dessert, roasted vegetables, and salad components can be prepared before guests arrive.

• Set the Mood: Fresh flowers, candlelight, and a thoughtfully curated playlist transform dinner into an experience.

• Serve with Confidence: You don’t have to be a professional chef to host beautifully. Hospitality is less about perfection and more about making people feel welcome.

• Gather with Intention: The most memorable ingredient is never found in the recipe. It’s the people around your table.

The InFluential Pour

For those who prefer not to consume alcohol, consider equally elegant alternatives:

• Sparkling water with lemon and fresh mint

• Chilled white grape juice served in stemware

• Blackberry iced tea

• Citrus rosemary spritzers

Because the true spirit of the evening isn’t found in the glass.

It’s found in the gathering. l

KURA SUSHI PFLUGERVILLE: WHERE INNOVATION ROLLS RIGHT TO YOUR TABLE

THERE ARE RESTAURANT VISITS YOU ENJOY, AND THEN THERE ARE DINING EXPERIENCES YOU REMEMBER LONG AFTER THE LAST PLATE HAS DISAPPEARED DOWN THE TABLE. OUR RECENT VISIT TO KURA REVOLVING SUSHI BAR IN PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS, WAS DECIDEDLY THE LATTER.

Dining alongside my tailor and friend, I arrived with curiosity and perhaps a touch of apprehension. Revolving sushi? Touchscreen ordering? Prize games? Would the technology overshadow the hospitality? Within moments of stepping through the doors, I had my answer.

“Are you Guest 191?” our hostess asked with a welcoming smile. “I am indeed,” I replied.

That brief exchange set the tone for an afternoon that felt less transactional and more like being welcomed into an experience carefully designed to delight.

May, our hostess, was exceptional. Knowing it was our first visit, she

n

patiently walked us through every aspect of the process without a hint of impatience. She explained how to select dishes from the continuously moving sushi conveyor, how to place custom orders using the touchscreen tablet, and how the restaurant’s playful reward system worked. Her enthusiasm was genuine, transforming what could have been an intimidating first experience into one of discovery and excitement.

And then came the robot.

In an age when many restaurants struggle to balance efficiency with hospitality, Kura has somehow managed to make technology feel charming. A cheerful robotic server glided effortlessly through the

dining room delivering our water and wasabi while greeting guests along the way. It wasn’t gimmicky. It was surprisingly endearing, and judging by the smiles around the room, adults enjoyed it every bit as much as the children.

The food itself was equally impressive.

Kura’s philosophy of “muten,” or “nothing added,” reflects a commitment to serving dishes free from artificial sweeteners, preservatives, seasonings, and colorings. Freshness isn’t simply a marketing slogan here. Their patented Mr. Fresh™ ventilated sushi lids protect each plate while maintaining quality as it travels the conveyor. The result is food that tastes clean, vibrant, and thoughtfully prepared.

Part of the fun lies in creating your own culinary adventure. Spot something intriguing floating by? Grab it. Craving a favorite roll? Order it directly from the tablet. Everyone at the table can curate an entirely different meal, making Kura

Kura’s technology-forward dining experience combines conveyor belt service, touchscreen ordering, and interactive entertainment.

ideal for adventurous eaters and cautious diners alike.

Then there is Bikkura Pon, Kura’s whimsical reward system. After every fifteen completed plates are deposited into the slot beneath your table, guests unlock an animated game with the opportunity to win a small prize. It is a brilliant touch that transforms lunch into an interactive event and reminds us that dining out should occasionally be playful.

As our meal came to an end, May graciously offered to take photographs of us to commemorate our first visit. It was an unexpected gesture of kindness that perfectly reflected the spirit of the afternoon.

Long after I forget precisely which sushi selections I enjoyed most, I suspect I will remember the warmth of that moment.

At InFluential Magazine, we often celebrate establishments that understand the importance of experience. Excellent food matters. Service matters. Ambiance matters. The places that truly distinguish themselves recognize that hospitality is the art of making people feel seen.

Kura Sushi in Pflugerville accomplishes exactly that.

Blending authentic Japanese inspiration with innovative technology, interactive

entertainment, fresh ingredients, and heartfelt service, Kura delivers something increasingly rare in today’s dining landscape: joy.

If you haven’t visited yet, make the reservation. Listen for your number to be called. And if you’re fortunate enough to hear, “Are you Guest 191?” you’ll understand exactly why we’ll be returning.

Visit www.kurasushi.com for more information.

Verdict: C C C C C Fresh. Inventive. Unpretentious. Delightfully fun.

Kura Sushi Pflugerville isn’t just a meal. It’s an experience. l

TASTE FLAVORS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE WITHOUT LEAVING YOUR KITCHEN

THE FLAVORS AND AROMAS OF GLOBAL CUISINES ARE CLOSER THAN EVER — NO PASSPORT OR FLIGHTS REQUIRED.

With a thoughtfully curated spice collection, home chefs can transport their senses anywhere in the world, while adding depth and incredible flavor to every dish,” says Giovanna DiLegge, vice president of Marketing, McCormick & Company.

Featuring 72 distinctive herbs and spices, including an extensive selection of certified organic varieties, the McCormick Gourmet Collection offers a refined approach to everyday cooking. Sourced from regions known for their exceptional quality, the collection makes it easy to explore global flavors in your kitchen.

And to help get you started on your global culinary journey, McCormick is sharing a recipe for one of Spain’s most iconic dishes: Spanish Paella Mixta. Paella pairs tender seafood with saffron-infused rice and the smoky depth of paprika. Designed for sharing, it’s best served straight from the pan and finished with fresh parsley and bright lemon wedges.

Ingredients:

• 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided

• 2 medium sweet onions, chopped

• 4 cloves fresh garlic, chopped

• 1 medium red bell pepper, seeded and chopped

• 1 teaspoon McCormick Gourmet

Organic Paprika

• 8 ounces dry-cured Spanish chorizo, cut on a bias into 1/2-ich thick slices

• 1/2 teaspoon McCormick Gourmet Organic Coarse Ground Black Pepper, divided

• 1 teaspoon McCormick Sea Salt Grinder, divided

• 1-pound boneless skinless chicken thighs, trimmed and quartered

• 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) petite diced tomatoes

• 2 cups of short or medium grain rice, such as bomba or Calasparra

• 4 cups chicken stock

• 1/2 cup dry white wine

• 1/2 teaspoon McCormick Gourmet

Organic Saffron, crumbled

• 1-pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

• 12 fresh mussels, cleaned and rinsed

• 1/2 cup frozen peas

• Chopped fresh parsley

• Fresh lemon wedges, to serve

Instructions:

1. Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in large, wide bottom skillet (or paella pan) on medium-high heat. Add onions, garlic, bell pepper, paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon each of the black pepper and salt. Cook and stir for 6 to 8 minutes or until fragrant and softened. Remove sofrito from the pan to a large plate.

2. Add chorizo to the pan; cook and stir 4 to 6 minutes, until wellbrowned. Transfer to a plate with sofrito. Heat 1 tablespoon of the remaining oil in pan. Add chicken and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Cook just until chicken is browned on all sides, about 6 minutes. Remove from pan; set aside with sofrito and chorizo.

3. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and diced tomatoes to the pan. Cook, stirring occasionally until slightly caramelized and liquid has reduced, about 6 to 8 minutes. Add rice; cook and stir just until rice is fragrant and slightly translucent. Return sofrito mixture, chicken and chorizo to pan. Stir in stock, white wine, saffron and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Simmer 20 minutes or until rice has absorbed most of the liquid.

Tip: Test rice for doneness, it should be al dente — firm, with a slight chew. If rice is too hard, stir in up to 1/4 cup of warm stock. Cover and cook 3 to 5 minutes longer before adding seafood.

4. Nest shrimp and mussels into rice. Sprinkle with peas. Partially cover pan and cook on medium heat 10 minutes or until shrimp are pink and mussels have opened. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and lemon wedges, if desired.

From the floral complexity of golden-hued saffron to the balanced sweetness of vibrant red paprika, all you need are the right spices and seasonings to explore a world of flavor in your very own kitchen. (StatePoint) l

It drifts through open windows, fills patios at sunset, and becomes the backdrop for celebrations, reunions, road trips, and unforgettable evenings with family and friends.

Long after the season has passed, the music remains. Few understand that better than DJ Musiek.

Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, a city legendary for its contributions to funk music, DJ Musiek grew up influenced by artists such as the Ohio Players, Bootsy Collins, and Roger Troutman. More than three decades later, those influences continue to shape his approach to music and entertainment.

Today, Austin serves as home base for the man who prefers a unique title: Music Experience Architect. The description fits.

While technology can create playlists, it cannot read a room. It cannot recognize the perfect moment for a stepping classic, a

soulful ballad, or a song that instantly brings generations together.

For DJ Musiek, every event begins with a simple question: “How do we want people to feel?”

The answer becomes the soundtrack. And ultimately, the memory. “A great DJ doesn’t just play music. A great DJ creates moments.” ~ DJ Musiek

A Conversation with DJ Musiek What makes a great summer song?

A great summer song creates a feeling. It can be joyful, nostalgic, romantic, or energetic, but it should transport people somewhere. Summer songs have the “X” factor that no one can explain, it just

works. The best songs become attached to memories.

What is the biggest misconception about DJs?

Many people think we simply play songs. What we actually do is create experiences. Every selection serves a purpose. The goal isn’t to play music. The goal is to create a moment people will remember.

“Great music has no borders. The right song can bring people together and create a memory that lasts long after the music stops.”

At the heart of DJ Musiek’s philosophy is a belief that every gathering deserves its own identity. That same philosophy guides the work of the inKey DJ Collective, where music, atmosphere, and connection come together to create memorable experiences for every audience.

As summer unfolds, there will be celebrations, vacations, dinners, reunions, and evenings spent beneath glowing skies. Years from now, many of those moments will still have a soundtrack.

And if DJ Musiek has anything to say about it, that soundtrack will be unforgettable. Learn more at www.inKeyDJCollective.com. l

The Woman Who Refuses to Let Fashion Have the Last Word

HOW MS. TAM HUYNH HELPS PEOPLE FALL IN LOVE WITH THEIR REFLECTION AGAIN

THERE IS A PARTICULAR KIND OF HEARTBREAK THAT ALMOST EVERYONE KNOWS, ALTHOUGH FEW PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IT. IT HAPPENS BENEATH THE HARSH LIGHTS OF A DRESSING ROOM.

You slip into the dress you’ve been admiring for weeks only to discover the zipper won’t cooperate. The jacket you’ve saved for months fits perfectly through the shoulders but hangs awkwardly through the waist. The trousers are too long, too short, too tight, or too loose. You tug, adjust, and negotiate with the mirror before quietly arriving at a familiar conclusion: perhaps the problem isn’t the clothes.

Perhaps it’s you. Fashion has spent decades convincing people that elegance belongs to a select few. If only you were taller. Smaller. Curvier. Leaner. Younger. More proportional. We’ve learned to accept disappointment as part of getting dressed, apologizing for bodies that have carried us through careers, marriages, pregnancies, illnesses, celebrations, and the ordinary miracle of everyday life.

For more than twenty years, Ms. Tam Huynh has been rejecting that narrative, one stitch at a time. Drawing upon experience with Men’s Wearhouse, David’s Bridal, DXL, and Nordstrom, Ms. Tam has helped thousands of clients discover a truth that the fashion industry often overlooks: there is nothing wrong with their bodies. The clothing is supposed to fit them, not the other way around. While others accepted “close enough,” she built a career around making sure her clients experienced the transformative confidence that comes from clothing designed to honor who they already are.

Long before she became a trusted name in tailoring in the United States, Ms. Tam’s story began in Vietnam at the side of her mother. As a young girl, she learned to sew on buttons, mend tears, patch holes, and create embroidery by hand. Her mother viewed those skills as an expression of care and self-sufficiency, teaching her daughters that knowing how to create and preserve clothing was one way of caring for the people they loved.

Those early lessons ignited a passion that would shape the course of her life. After high school, Ms. Tam formally studied garment construction and worked in the profession until the day she left Vietnam. When she arrived in the United States in 2001, she never imagined she would sew again. Like many immigrants building a new life, she pursued different opportunities and adapted to unfamiliar circumstances. Yet some callings have a way of finding us, no matter how far we travel.

“Because that’s what I know best, and sewing is my true love.
Tam Huynh

In 2006, she returned to the work she knew best. “Because that’s what I know best, and sewing is my true love,” she says. In that simple statement lies the heart of Ms. Tam’s story. Tailoring was never merely a job. It was home.

Today, Ms. Tam brings that devotion to every fitting, understanding that measurements tell only part of a person’s story. The executive preparing for a career defining presentation. The bride anticipating her walk down the aisle. The gentleman attending a black-tie gala. The woman rediscovering herself after years of putting everyone else’s needs first. Every appointment begins with listening. How do you want to feel? What story do you want your clothing to tell before you’ve spoken a single word?

Her services reflect that deep personal approach. Custom suits for both men and women allow clients to select fabrics, silhouettes, and details that mirror their personalities and lifestyles. Alterations transform garments that almost worked into pieces that feel intentional and refined. Restyling gives beloved wardrobe staples a second life, proving that elegance is often found not in replacing what we own, but in reimagining it.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable aspects of Ms. Tam’s work is her commitment to clients who have long felt overlooked by traditional sizing. Petite women tired of disappearing beneath excess fabric. Tall men resigned to sleeves that never quite reach their wrists. Athletic builds that challenge standard measurements. Fuller figures seeking sophistication without sacrificing comfort. Rather than asking people to change themselves to fit the clothing, Ms. Tam reshapes clothing to celebrate the individuality of the person wearing it. It is a subtle distinction. But it changes everything.

Nowhere is that transformation more evident than during life’s milestone moments. Weddings, anniversaries, galas, and formal celebrations carry enough emotion without the anxiety of wondering

whether your clothing will cooperate. One wedding client recalled the experience this way: “From start to finish, working with Tam was pleasant and stress free. The dress and suits for our wedding were perfect and beyond what we could have imagined.”

Those words speak to more than technical expertise. They reveal the gift Ms. Tam offers the people who trust her with their most important occasions. She creates calm amid chaos. She removes uncertainty.

“The fashion industry has made billions of dollars convincing people they need to change themselves.

”

She allows people to be fully present in moments they will remember for the rest of their lives.

As someone who has interviewed innovators, entrepreneurs, artists, and changemakers from every walk of life, I have developed a deep appreciation for those who transform lives quietly, without fanfare or applause. Ms. Tam Huynh is one of them. “The fashion industry has made billions of dollars convincing people they need to change themselves,” says William T. Jackson, Editor in Chief of InFluential Magazine. “Ms. Tam offers a beautiful act of rebellion. She changes the clothing instead. In doing so, she reminds people that elegance isn’t reserved for a particular size, age, or body type. The most stylish person in any room is usually the one who has discovered the confidence that comes from being completely comfortable in who they are.”

Perhaps that is why clients return to Ms. Tam year after year, referring spouses, friends, colleagues, and children into her care. Long after the final fitting is complete, they remember more than the perfectly tailored jacket or flawlessly altered gown. They remember feeling seen rather than scrutinized, celebrated rather than corrected.

Because the perfect fit has never really been about fashion. It is about dignity. It is about identity. It is about standing in front of the mirror and recognizing the person looking back with affection instead of criticism. And sometimes, all it takes is one woman with a measuring tape and an unwavering belief that you were never meant to shrink yourself to fit the world around you.

To learn more about Ms. Tam Huynh’s custom tailoring, alterations, formalwear, and garment restyling services, visit www.mstambespoketailoring.com and discover what becomes possible when clothing is created to honor the person wearing it.

Because elegance was never reserved for someone else. It was yours all along. l

The Pour That Changed Hutto, Texas

HOW MEG HINEY BUILT MORE THAN

A WINE BAR AND CREATED ONE OF CENTRAL TEXAS’S MOST

WELCOMING GATHERING PLACES

EVERY COMMUNITY HAS PLACES THAT EVENTUALLY BECOME WOVEN INTO ITS IDENTITY.

They are the places where celebrations begin, friendships deepen, and conversations linger long after the original reason for gathering has been forgotten. They are the establishments people recommend to newcomers and return to when they need a familiar face, a comfortable seat, and a sense of connection. Over time, these places become more than businesses. They become part of the story a community tells about itself.

In Hutto, Texas, that place may very well be Hutto Wine Bar. Located in the heart of downtown

at 105 East Street, Hutto Wine Bar has quickly established itself as one of the city’s most charming destinations. Yet describing it simply as a wine bar barely scratches the surface. What owner Meg Hiney has created is a gathering place where neighbors become friends, local businesses collaborate, and guests are encouraged to slow down long enough to savor both the wine in their glass and the people seated around them.

The story began with a simple question. After moving to Hutto with her husband in 2011, Hiney embraced the community’s welcoming spirit and small-town character. As the city continued to grow, she often found herself wishing there were a neighborhood wine bar where residents could gather, relax, and enjoy a quality glass of wine without leaving town. That wish followed her for years.

nWRITTEN BY WILLIAM T. JACKSON, ABA, B.ACY., MBA, 2018 FOLIO: 100 HONOREE, FORBESBLK MEMBER

Then, during a visit to Fredericksburg, Texas, a destination known for its wineries and tasting rooms, Hiney found herself asking owners a question that would ultimately alter the course of her life. Would you ever consider opening a location in Hutto? The answer was almost always the same. Not yet. For many people, that would have marked the end of the conversation. For Hiney, it became the beginning. Rather than waiting for someone else to bring the experience she wanted to Hutto, she decided to create it herself.

The decision was not without risk. Hiney was not a trained sommelier. She had never operated a tasting room. Her professional background was in software management, where she spent more than a decade building a successful corporate career. What she possessed instead was something that cannot be taught in a classroom: a genuine passion for wine and the role it plays in bringing people together.

Her appreciation for wine began with her father and later became something she shared with her husband. Wine was present during celebrations, family gatherings, milestones, and meaningful moments. Over time, she realized wine itself was only part of the experience. The conversations, laughter, and connections that surrounded it were what truly mattered.

That understanding remains at the heart of Hutto Wine Bar today. Walk through the front doors and you’ll immediately notice the atmosphere feels different. The space is polished without being pretentious, stylish without sacrificing comfort. Guests settle into conversations that often last longer than expected. Friends gather around tasting flights. Couples linger over a glass of wine. Firsttime visitors quickly find themselves feeling like regulars.

“I want everyone that walks into Hutto Wine Bar to think, ‘Wow, this is totally a place I could sit for a few hours and just relax,’” says Hiney. Mission accomplished.

The experience feels personal because it is. Hiney designed the space to reflect her own personality while ensuring every guest feels welcome. Whether someone arrives with extensive wine knowledge or simply a curiosity to learn, they are greeted with the same warmth and hospitality.

The wine list itself tells a story. While Hutto Wine Bar offers thoughtfully curated wines from around the world, what truly distinguishes the selection is Hiney’s

commitment to spotlighting women in the wine industry. Approximately ninety to ninety-five percent of the wines offered by the glass are produced, owned, or heavily influenced by women.

The inspiration for that focus emerged from her own professional experiences. Throughout her years in corporate leadership, Hiney often found herself seated at tables where women were significantly outnumbered. When she entered the wine industry, she recognized many of the same dynamics. Although women have long played vital roles in vineyard management, winemaking, ownership, and innovation, their contributions have not always received equal recognition. Rather than simply acknowledging the disparity, Hiney chose to do something about it.

Today, guests at Hutto Wine Bar discover not only exceptional wines but also the remarkable stories behind them. Each bottle offers an opportunity to learn about women who have built businesses, challenged convention, and forged successful careers within a traditionally male-dominated industry. One story that particularly resonates with Hiney is that of Italian winemaker Giovanna Neri of Col di Lamo. Rather than remaining within her father’s established operation, Neri purchased nearby property and created a winery built around her own vision and creativity. Today she works alongside her daughter, creating a multigenerational legacy rooted in entrepreneurship and independence. It is a story Hiney understands well.

As the mother of two daughters, she recognizes the importance of visibility, representation, and showing future generations what is possible when women pursue their ambitions with confidence and determination. The impact of Hutto Wine Bar extends far beyond the wine list.

At a time when many businesses focus primarily on transactions, Hutto Wine Bar focuses on relationships. The venue regularly hosts wine dinners, tasting experiences, book swaps, bingo nights, community

“I

want everyone that walks into Hutto Wine Bar to think, ‘Wow, this is totally a place I could sit for a few hours and just relax’.

fundraisers, and partnerships with local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Guests arrive for a glass of wine but often leave having made new connections within the community. The wine bar’s partnership with local organizations reflects Hiney’s commitment to supporting Hutto’s continued growth. As the city evolves, creating opportunities for residents to gather and engage with one another has become increasingly important.

That same spirit of connection is reflected in the Hutto Wine Bar Members Only Club. Members enjoy curated monthly wine selections, exclusive discounts, access to member-only wines, complimentary daily pours, and invitations to private tasting experiences. Monthly pickup events allow members to sample featured wines, explore new selections, and spend time with fellow enthusiasts before wines become available to the public.

“Hutto Wine Bar proves that when passion meets purpose, a business can become something much larger than itself. It can become part of a community’s identity. William T. Jackson,

What began as a membership program has become a community within a community. Friends gather. Conversations continue. New discoveries are made. That sense of belonging may ultimately be Hutto Wine Bar’s greatest achievement. In an era defined by speed, distraction, and digital interaction, Hutto Wine Bar offers something refreshingly simple: a place to slow down and connect. The wine is exceptional. The atmosphere is inviting. The mission is inspiring. But what guests remember most is how the experience makes them feel. Welcomed. Valued. At home.

As Hutto continues to grow and define its future, places like Hutto Wine Bar remind us communities are not built solely through development, infrastructure, or expansion. They are built around gathering places. Places where stories are shared. Places where friendships are formed. Places where people belong. And thanks to Meg Hiney’s vision, Hutto has found one more place to call its own.

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO SPEND THEIR LIVES LEARNING HOW TO FIT IN. THEN THERE ARE THOSE RARE INDIVIDUALS WHO QUIETLY INVITE THE REST OF US TO SEE DIFFERENTLY. MARLENE JORGE IS ONE OF THEM.

She Never Forgot How to See Color

THE IMAGINATIVE WORLD OF ARTIST

MARLENE JORGE REMINDS US THAT WONDER IS A FORM OF COURAGE

nWRITTEN BY WILLIAM T. JACKSON, ABA, B.ACY., MBA, 2018 FOLIO: 100 HONOREE, FORBESBLK MEMBER

Long before awards, exhibitions, and international recognition, there was a little girl in Santiago, Dominican Republic, captivated by colors, faces, and the limitless possibilities of her own imagination. She drew imaginary characters and invented stories, filling sketchbooks with worlds that existed nowhere else except in her mind. She was five years old. She never stopped.

Today, Jorge is an internationally exhibited, autodidact pop surrealist artist whose work refuses easy categorization. Raised between the Dominican Republic and the United States, she has developed a visual language all her own, one rooted not in convention, but in curiosity.

To spend time with Jorge’s work is to enter a world where dreams and memory share the same space.

Where emotion and symbolism coexist. Where the familiar suddenly feels mysterious and the mysterious becomes strangely recognizable.

It is art that asks us not simply to observe, but to feel. “My process is made of impromptu expression and unforced outbursts,” Jorge says. “My compositions are like a personal diary.” Yet the remarkable thing about Jorge’s artistic diary is that it somehow becomes our own.

Within her bold lines and vibrant palettes, viewers often recognize pieces of themselves. A fleeting emotion. A half-remembered dream. A longing they cannot quite name. The quiet complexity of being human.

Jorge’s paintings rarely arrive with instructions. They do not demand agreement or offer tidy conclusions. Instead, they invite curiosity. What if we looked closely? What if we allowed ourselves to wonder? What if we

stopped trying so hard to explain everything and simply experienced it? That openness has become one of Jorge’s signatures.

She creates intuitively, often beginning with little more than a feeling, an image, or a fragment of thought. The work evolves organically, revealing itself as she goes. “I trust the process to guide me, not control me,” she says. For Jorge, art is less an act of execution than discovery.

Working primarily with acrylics, ink, and mixed media on canvas and wood panels, she builds layer upon layer of color, texture, and movement. Palette knives, charcoal, collage elements, and handwritten fragments occasionally find their way into the composition. The unexpected is not feared. It is welcomed.

There are few rigid rules. Only possibility. Music often accompanies the process. “I need music to create,” she says. “It helps me focus because my mind works 24/7.” Dreams play their part as well.

Ideas emerge unexpectedly, sometimes in the quiet moments between sleeping and waking. Jorge has learned to trust them. To write them down. To follow them where they lead. That willingness to embrace intuition rather than suppress it has shaped not only her art, but her life.

She describes herself as deeply curious about people. Facial expressions, body language, and the stories carried behind someone’s eyes have fascinated her since childhood. “I believe that a very particular psychological enlightenment takes place when you gaze at someone’s eyes and face,” she says. “Unknowingly, we begin paving a pathway to unconscious personal connection.”

Perhaps that explains why her work resonates with audiences from so many different backgrounds. It does not tell viewers what they should think. It simply offers them space to reflect.

“My process is made of impromptu expression and unforced outbursts, my compositions are like a personal diary.
Marlene Jorge

In recent years, Jorge’s work has earned recognition through exhibitions and honors including the Persona Art Honours Award, the Global Masterpiece Award, exhibitions through Contemporary Art Station and the Digital Gallery of Contemporary Artists, London’s Square Station Underground Art Exhibit, and immersive experiences presented by The Holy Art in Barcelona. Yet accolades, while appreciated, seem secondary to the deeper purpose behind the work.

Jorge believes art belongs to everyone. She has embraced the rise of digital exhibitions and virtual galleries, celebrating the way technology has expanded access to collectors and audiences across the globe.

For generations, the art world often felt exclusive. Now, she sees something different emerging. A democratization of creativity. A larger conversation. A reminder that meaningful encounters with art are not reserved for a select few. They belong to anyone willing to pause long enough to engage. That spirit of openness extends beyond the gallery walls.

As both artist and entrepreneur, Jorge continues expanding her creative universe through original works, prints, wearable art, and collaborations that make her work accessible while preserving its emotional depth and integrity.

At the heart of it all remains a deceptively simple belief. Joy matters. Curiosity matters. Imagination matters. In adulthood, we often treat wonder as something to outgrow. We exchange instinct for practicality and trade possibility for certainty.

Jorge suggests another way. Perhaps maturity is not the abandonment of imagination, but the courage to trust it. Perhaps the person we are striving to become is not someone new at all. Perhaps the truest version of ourselves has been quietly waiting beneath the expectations, labels, and noise of everyday life.

To Jorge, art is “the most sacred act of remembering who you are before the world told you who to be.” It is a philosophy she paints into every canvas. Not as a prescription. Not as an answer. But as an invitation. Permission to remain curious. Permission to dream without apology. Permission to create boldly. Permission to see possibility where others see limitation. And permission to color outside the lines.

In Marlene Jorge’s world, color is more than pigment. It is memory. It is imagination. It is hope. And perhaps that is the legacy of a life devoted to art. Not simply the works left hanging on walls, but countless people encouraged to trust their own inner voice because they encountered someone brave enough to trust hers.

EThe Luxury of Trust

HOW RAWAN HADDAD AND MADAM ROSE SOLUTIONS ARE

REDEFINING THE CLIENT

EXPERIENCE IN CENTRAL TEXAS

LUXURY HAS LONG BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THE THINGS WE CAN SEE.

xquisite finishes. Custom furnishings. Architectural details that capture attention and admiration. The kind of spaces that inspire guests to pause in the doorway and take it all in. Yet anyone who has ever embarked upon a renovation, built a business, staged a property, or transformed a space knows that true luxury isn’t found solely in what meets the eye. It is found in peace of mind. It is the confidence of knowing your vision is understood. It is trusting that the people invited into your home or business will honor your investment, respect your time, and care for the details as thoughtfully as you would yourself.

For Rawan Haddad, founder of Madam Rose Solutions, that trust is not simply part of the process. It is the foundation of everything. “People invite us into some of the most important spaces in their lives and businesses,” she says. “That trust means everything.” It

is an increasingly rare philosophy in an industry too often characterized by miscommunication, missed deadlines, and uncertainty. Yet it is precisely this commitment to service that has transformed Madam Rose Solutions from a boutique company specializing in interior design, home staging, and basic remodeling into a full-service residential and commercial design and construction firm serving clients throughout Central Texas.

Today, Madam Rose Solutions offers a comprehensive experience that guides clients from initial vision through final reveal. Residential and commercial design. Construction and remodeling. Interior design and furnishing. Project planning and management. Luxury renovations. Staging and space transformation. Contractor and vendor coordination. Every service exists for one purpose: To create an elevated experience that feels as effortless as it is exceptional. “We want our clients to feel supported every step of the way,” Haddad explains. “They should never feel alone in the process.”

nWRITTEN BY WILLIAM T. JACKSON, ABA, B.ACY., MBA, 2018 FOLIO: 100 HONOREE, FORBESBLK MEMBER

Perhaps that is what makes Madam Rose Solutions so distinctive. The company understands while beautiful outcomes matter, the experience of getting there matters just as much. Communication is clear, consistent, and proactive. Reliability is not treated as an aspiration. It is an expectation. Craftsmanship is evident in every finish and every detail. Timelines are managed with precision and respect. Most importantly, the client always comes first. Every project begins not with blueprints, but with listening. How do you want to live? How do you want to work? What challenges do you hope to solve? How should this space make people feel?

Whether designing a family residence intended for gathering and celebration or reimagining a commercial environment that reflects a company’s identity and values, Haddad believes the most memorable spaces accomplish two things beautifully. They inspire. And they function. Because exceptional design should never force clients to choose between elegance and practicality. It should deliver both. There is also a quiet intentionality about the way Haddad speaks about her work. She is thoughtful rather than theatrical.

Measured rather than hurried. During conversation, she speaks less about trends and accolades and more about responsibility. She understands behind every renovation budget, construction timeline, and design decision is a person placing tremendous trust in someone else’s hands. For many clients, these projects represent years of saving, long-held dreams, or defining moments of growth. A family preparing for a new chapter. A business owner investing in the future of a company. A homeowner envisioning a space that finally reflects the life they have worked so hard to build. Haddad does not take that lightly.

In many ways, she serves as both advocate and guide, helping clients navigate what can often feel like an overwhelming process with clarity, reassurance, and care. Luxury, she believes, should never feel intimidating. It should feel supportive. It should feel personal. That philosophy extends to the team entrusted to bring each vision to life.

Rather than relying on unfamiliar providers, Haddad has intentionally cultivated relationships with trusted vendors, contractors, artisans, and industry

professionals whose standards align with her own. Every partnership has been built thoughtfully because she believes that the people representing the Madam Rose name should reflect the same commitment to excellence clients have come to expect. Who you work with matters. How they show up matters. Promises kept matter. Clients benefit not only from expertise, but from confidence. Confidence that the people entering their homes, businesses, and most meaningful spaces have earned their place at the table.

Raised abroad and influenced by diverse cultural perspectives, Haddad developed an appreciation for environments that tell stories. Her understanding of design extends beyond aesthetics to encompass the emotional impact of the spaces we inhabit. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, certification in Event Planning, formal Interior Design education, and a Master’s degree in Psychology, she brings a uniquely holistic perspective to every project. She understands people do not simply occupy spaces. They experience them. Thoughtful environments can encourage collaboration, improve productivity, foster connection, inspire creativity, and nurture well-being. The spaces we create shape the experiences we have within them.

The story behind Madam Rose Solutions reflects many of the same values that guide the company today. Named in honor of the generations of women in Haddad’s family who exemplified grace, resilience, strength, and unwavering care for others, the brand serves as a tribute to the belief beauty and substance should never exist separately.

Luxury without warmth feels distant. Function without beauty feels incomplete. The most extraordinary spaces achieve both. As Madam Rose Solutions continues

“People invite us into some of the most important spaces in their lives and businesses, that trust means everything.”

Rawan Haddad, founder of Madam Rose Solutions

shaping residential and commercial environments throughout Central Texas, its mission remains remarkably simple.

As Madam Rose Solutions continues shaping residential and commercial environments throughout Central Texas, its mission remains remarkably simple:

• Listen well.

• Communicate clearly.

• Deliver exceptionally.

• Earn trust.

Because while beautiful spaces may capture attention, trust earns loyalty. Long after the final walkthrough has concluded and the finishing touches are complete, clients remember how they were treated. They remember whether promises were kept. They remember whether someone protected their vision as carefully as they would have themselves.

At Madam Rose Solutions, clients receive more than beautiful results. They receive an experience grounded in integrity, guided by expertise, and elevated by care. Because true luxury is not merely about the finished product. It is knowing from the very first conversation to the final reveal, your vision has been protected, respected, and brought to life by people worthy of your confidence. And perhaps that is the greatest luxury of all.

“Beautiful spaces may capture attention, but trust transforms the experience. The greatest luxury is knowing your vision is in capable hands.” ~ William T. Jackson, Editor in Chief, InFluential Magazine.

HOW TO CREATE A BUSINESS SUCCESSION PLAN: A Guide to Getting Started

Editor’s Note

Succession planning is one of those conversations many business owners intend to have “someday.” Unfortunately, someday has a way of arriving sooner than expected. Whether your enterprise consists of hundreds of employees or a thriving small business built from the ground up, the question remains the same: Have you prepared your company to continue without you?

Legacy isn’t simply about wealth. It’s about stewardship. It’s about protecting the people who helped build your vision, preserving the values that shaped your organization, and ensuring that years of hard work continue to benefit future generations.

If you’ve been putting off succession planning, perhaps this article is the gentle nudge you’ve been waiting for. ~ William T. Jackson, Editor in Chief, InFluential Magazine

For many business owners, succession planning is often pushed aside by the dayto-day demands of running a business. But having a clear plan for what happens to your business once you’re ready to step back is one of the most important ways to protect what you’ve built.

PNC’s Business Owner Wealth Insights Report shows that nearly 70% of owners agree planning for the future is important, but 1 in 3 have not yet formalized their succession plan. One of the biggest barriers: its perceived complexity.

Start With Alignment, Not Mechanics

The most effective succession plans start with clarity on outcomes, not mechanics.

Start by clarifying your priorities, including your financial goals, business direction, and stakeholder expectations. This alignment will guide key decisions, from choosing a successor to structuring the transition.

Jim Benedict, head of Business Owner Solutions, PNC Private Bank, said: “We tell clients to ‘begin with the end in mind.’ How would they like their family wealth and business to be structured? What do they want to accomplish? What’s important to them? Once we know the answers to those questions, we can look at succession methods and wealth structures.”

Identify and Develop Future Leadership

The next step is determining who could eventually lead the business.

Potential successors may include family members, partners, employees, or outside buyers.

Each option brings distinct considerations, including whether the successor has the skills to lead, how the transfer will be structured, and what level of involvement the current owner will retain.

Create a Transition Timeline

A phased transition over several years allows for:

• deliberate leadership development and mentoring;

• gradual transfer of responsibilities and relationships;

• reduced operational disruption; and

• greater flexibility in structuring ownership transfer.

Get a Realistic Business Valuation

A professional valuation provides a clearer picture of financial health and helps guide retirement, tax, and other transition decisions.

It also gives owners a reliable value to incorporate into personal financial planning and a framework to evaluate whether unsolicited offers are credible and worth pursuing.

Communicate the Plan

One of the most overlooked aspects of succession planning is communication.

Businesses that successfully navigate succession tend to focus on three areas:

• Clarity: defining roles, expectations, and the future leadership structure.

• Alignment: ensuring key stakeholders share a common understanding of direction.

• Consistency: establishing regular opportunities to revisit and refine the plan.

Review and Update Regularly

Review your plan regularly, especially after major business changes, leadership shifts, or personal life events. Keeping the plan current helps ensure it stays aligned with your goals and your company’s needs.

Steps You Can Take Today

• Document your top two or three succession goals;

• Identify at least one potential successor; and

• Schedule a conversation with a trusted financial or legal advisor.

Creating a succession plan may feel like a future concern, but planning ahead can help protect your business, support your employees, and make the next chapter smoother for everyone involved. (StatePoint l

THE NEW RULES OF INFLUENCE WHY CREDIBILITY, CONNECTION, AND CONSISTENCY MATTER MORE THAN EVER

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN INFLUENCE WAS MEASURED BY TITLES, CORNER OFFICES, AND ORGANIZATIONAL CHARTS. THE PERSON WITH THE BIGGEST TITLE OFTEN HELD THE GREATEST SWAY, WHILE EVERYONE ELSE WAITED FOR PERMISSION TO BE HEARD.

Today, those rules have fundamentally changed. Influence has become more democratic, more personal, and far more nuanced. The individuals making the greatest impact are not necessarily those with the loudest voices or the largest platforms. They are the people who consistently inspire trust, cultivate meaningful relationships, and create value long before asking for anything in return.

We live in an era where nearly everyone has a platform, yet genuine influence has become increasingly rare. Attention may be easy to capture, but respect is far

more difficult to earn. The most effective leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals understand that lasting influence is not built by demanding an audience but by serving one. They invest in relationships rather than transactions, choosing credibility over popularity and substance over spectacle. Those choices may not produce overnight success, but they create reputations that endure.

Trust has become the defining currency of modern leadership. Every meaningful relationship, whether personal or professional, begins with confidence that someone’s words and actions are aligned. Unlike status or authority, trust cannot be inherited or manufactured. It is earned through consistency, strengthened by accountability, and reinforced every time a promise is kept. The most influential individuals understand that credibility is built in countless small moments, from honoring commitments and admitting mistakes to listening with intention and treating others with respect regardless of their position.

Social media has undoubtedly changed the landscape of

communication, but it has also exposed an important truth: visibility and influence are not synonymous. Someone may attract millions of views yet inspire very little meaningful action. Conversely, another individual with a modest audience may profoundly shape decisions, careers, organizations, and communities because people genuinely believe in what they represent. The difference lies not in algorithms or follower counts but in authentic connection. Audiences today have become remarkably skilled at recognizing manufactured authenticity. They are drawn instead to honesty, thoughtful perspectives, and people whose lives consistently reflect the values they promote.

Another hallmark of genuine influence is generosity. The professionals who willingly share knowledge, introduce people to new opportunities, celebrate the accomplishments of others, and mentor without expecting immediate returns often become the most respected voices within their industries. Generosity creates goodwill, and goodwill naturally strengthens relationships. Over

time, those relationships become the foundation upon which careers, businesses, and communities flourish. The modern influencer is less concerned with accumulating attention than with creating opportunities for others to succeed alongside them.

Many people mistakenly believe influence belongs to those who achieve perfection. In reality, consistency has always proven far more powerful. Waiting for the perfect presentation, flawless website, or ideal circumstances often delays meaningful progress. The individuals who leave lasting impressions are those who continue showing up, refining their craft, and delivering value over time. Influence is rarely built through one extraordinary achievement. More

often, it is the cumulative result of hundreds of dependable actions repeated over months and years until excellence becomes a habit rather than an event.

As artificial intelligence, automation, and digital technologies continue reshaping nearly every profession, the qualities that distinguish us as human become increasingly valuable. Empathy, curiosity, humility, emotional intelligence, and genuine kindness are no longer merely desirable personality traits. They have become competitive advantages. People may admire expertise, but they remain loyal to those who make them feel seen, heard, and valued. Long after presentations have ended and social media posts have disappeared

from view, they remember how someone made them feel.

Ultimately, the most enduring influence has never been about control, popularity, or personal recognition. It has always been about inspiring others to become more than they believed possible. It is reflected in the confidence we instill, the opportunities we create, and the example we set through our daily actions. Titles will change. Platforms will evolve. Trends will continue to come and go. Yet those who lead with integrity, generosity, authenticity, and purpose will continue shaping conversations, organizations, and communities long after the spotlight has moved elsewhere. Those are the new rules of influence, and perhaps they have been the most important rules all along. l
