Signature Profile Longevity and Wellness in the Cayce Readings

By Alison Ray The concepts of longevity and wellness are as much a subject of discussion today as during Edgar Cayce’s lifetime. Scientific studies indicate that while lifespan is based on genetics, it is also based on individual lifestyle choices, including behaviors and environmental factors which can be modified. Most people would choose to live for a long time if they can remain healthy and energetic in body and mind. The psychic readings given

by Edgar Cayce made numerous references to disease prevention and longevity, noting the importance of diet, exercise, and leisure long before the medical community. The Cayce approach to wellness begins with the idea that health is a state of wholeness and balance. Imbalance and incoordination can challenge us to grow and develop; thus illness can often be viewed as an opportunity for transformation.

From his trance state, Edgar Cayce reiterated that we are multidimensional; including physical, mental and spiritual aspects and must be viewed holistically.

Since all healing comes from within, therapeutic interventions work best when assisting the natural, innate processes healing. A healthy lifestyle is the key to staying well and preventing disease and each of us is responsible for making choices and applying what we know. The readings also stress that while all therapeutic modalities can be helpful; it is important to find the best combination of treatments for each individual using a person-centered approach which recognizes the uniqueness of each individual rather than limiting people to diagnostic categories and pathological labels.

Because we are physical, mental and spiritual beings, and “preventative measures” need to include all of these aspects. We can use balance in mental, spiritual, and physical activity, moderation, regular hydrotherapy, osteopathic treatment, exercise, proper diet, meditation, and prayer to prevent illness and extend life. We can also seek to reduce stress factors including extreme emotions, frustration, anger, and worry.

In a reading given for a 37 year-old insurance agent: “There are certain tendencies, certain weaknesses that (continued on pg. 4)

(continued from pg. 3) are present in the body. They are not diseases these are rather dis-eases, when certain stresses or strains are brought to bear in the mental, in the spiritual, and physical experience of the entity.” (Reading 2533-6) The man was encouraged to adapt a more balanced lifestyle, improve his diet, and enjoy regular exercise. They stress that for life expectancy, health and illness, the role of the mind was far more important than heredity and genetics. While Mr. 2533 had inherited a tendency for a glandular imbalance, he could focus his mind on a spiritual ideal and change his own expectations about aging and death: “…because your great, great, great, great grandfather died you will die too is there, and is part of the expectancy of every cell of your body! It can be eradicated, yes. How? By that constant activity within self of expectancy that this condition does not have to happen to you!” (Reading 2533-6) Also key to health and wellness was having a definite spiritual purpose or ideal and being of service to one’s fellow man.

Having a purpose gives us a reason to continue when we encounter obstacles. Edgar Cayce taught this over and over.

Here are a few of his readings on this matter: “This the entity should alter within self, being not only good, but good for something. Lose self rather in the service of others…” (Reading 1726-1) “Make the experiences of the life not only good but good for something, and we will find it will make the rest of the years of the entity’s experience in the earth much more worthwhile…

For life…is an opportunity to show the appreciation to the divine within, with the divine in your fellow man, and if you act in that manner much more joy, much more worth while will be the earthly experience of this entity.” (Reading 5294-1) “... you will live as long as you desire and do good for others.”

(Reading 5223-1) Finally, keep in mind the importance of balanced life. The following was from a reading given by Mr. Cayce for himself: “Moderation is the key to success or longevity!” (Reading 294130) The Cayce source implied that all knowledge is available within, if we seek patiently, persistently and consistently.

“For, as has been indicated so oft in each body, no medicine, no mechanical appliance does the healing. Chapter 7 – Safe and Abundant Universe “As you look out your window on a snowy evening, you see an abundance of white, fluffy flakes. As you look at the natural world, it is abundant with trees, flowers, and creatures. The abundance of this reality is everywhere. Be grateful for the abundance in life, in your life. Be grateful for being alive, for being as you are. Abundance is not only about wealth. It is everything that exists in the universe.

Become aware of how you keep your personal prosperity from yourself. Listen to your words, expressions, and responses. Listen to others in day-today conversations. Be aware of the flow of currency in exchange for goods and services. Listening to others can sometimes make the connection between what one believes and speaks and what one receives clearer to you. As you listen and observe, you will begin to see how some individuals create more prosperity than others do.

Look at your own beliefs. What are your thoughts,

words, and fears about prosperity and abundance? We merely want you to be aware. Be aware of how you speak your words. Observe how you converse in a store, how you speak with your loved ones, or with co-workers. It will become quite clear to you what your own prosperity and abundance consciousness is.

Be aware of so-called obsessive-compulsive behavior.

This is a mindset of fear or lack. When you are overly obsessive about something, you are in the mindset of constantly thinking Am I doing it enough? Am I doing it correctly? Am I in the sequence? Am I in the flow? Do I trust my inner guidance and myself? When you trust, allow, know, and believe in your self, you are indeed in the flow of everything. You know that all is well, that all is in divine order.

You are responsible for your experience of life to the fullest extent. You are responsible for your life in everything that it encompasses. Your placement in the universe or your state of being is up to you. What is it that you want to experience? How do you want to see yourself? It is how you feel about yourself, whether or not you feel worthy, and how aligned you are with what you want that determines your state of being and your experiences. Do you see yourself in a world of abundance or in a world of lack? Do you find yourself in a world of happiness and joy, or in a world of sadness and sorrow?

Do you see yourself with love and self-acceptance, or do you focus on all of the negative aspects of self? This is all a part of feeling safe and abundant.

You all want to be expressive and empowered individual beings that know no boundaries. And we want to say to you that you are all living this now: You are all expressing yourselves as individuals, free to think the thoughts you think and question those ideas that do not make sense to you. Some of you may ask, “How do I express myself without all of the baggage I carry with me?” We say to you- put down those bags, for they no longer need to be with you.

It is time now to be the fullest expression of your soul self and to live the life you choose to live. You are free. You can be free of all the hurt, the anger, the disappointments, and the disparaging words. You are free from those individuals who said that you will never amount to anything or those who asked, “Who do you think you are?” Today is your day. You are here. You are full of questions. You are full of interest. You are excited to be creating the life of choice and you are looking

forward to so much more. Live your lives by expressing yourselves from the inside out. Express yourselves fully and completely and let down your armor. Let others see you as you are-a creative, beautiful expression of life here in this time-space reality for a reason. You are here to fully express yourselves and to feel the power within, the power that has always been there.”

An Attitude of Gratitude

We hear the phrase “have an attitude of gratitude” often from a wide range of sources – spiritual guides, holistic healers, transformational authors, and even our wiser grandparents, parents, and friends. What does that mean, and how do we model that in our own lives? It is something that I am struggling with in my life right now, so what a great opportunity for us to explore that question together in this article!

Terri and I had a conversation about not only acknowledging what we are grateful for, but also FEELING grateful for things in our lives. Lately I’ve been waking up and making a mental list of people, animals, places, and things I am grateful for as a way of helping myself to get moving in the morning. But do I take the time to truly feel grateful about each of the things on my metal list? I had to admit that, no, I didn’t do that. That got me thinking about what gratitude actually feels like, and when I have felt that way. I realized that maybe I could go about this a little differently so that I focused more on the experience of feeling grateful for just a few things at a time.

I started thinking about our animals, and if I saw them experience gratitude. Animals are in the now, and feel what they feel honestly and openly. What great teachers to learn from. The easiest animal for me to start with was our Basset Hound Lukas. Lukas is all about food and loving attention. He is ready to eat at any time that a human walks into the kitchen. He is so hopeful, so truly yearning for food. He sits on his place or on a rug and waits and waits for some morsel of food to come his way.

His eyes light up when you offer a tidbit to him, and he swallows it with much joy. His tail wags and wags with thanks. Lukas’ whole being is gratitude at that moment.

He is not thinking “I am grateful for that treat”; he is FEELING how good that treat was and how wonderful it is that he could have a treat.

The next example of an animal experiencing gratitude comes from our cat Simba. Simba loves to be petted and stroked, and he particularly loves to lie on your torso and play happy feet (cat lovers know what that is, for the rest of you it is when cats flex and extend their front toes in a kneading motion). Simba also happens to be a very

vocal cat. So, when we allow him to come and lay on us, and we stroke him while he is doing that, his great big diesel purr motor gets going and he closes his eyes and juts his lower jaw in utter contentment and gratitude at the warm human body and hands beneath him. I think Simba actually moves from feeling gratitude to utter bliss at times. So, perhaps for him, feeling gratitude and feeling content and blissful go together.

In both of the examples above, the animals teach us that in order to experience gratitude, we have to seek what we are grateful for, and be in the moment with it. We need to allow ourselves to actually be present with and immersed in whatever we are grateful for in our heads, so that we can FEEL the gratitude with our whole being. Wow. I am going to now challenge myself to find one thing each day that I not only think about being grateful for, but am willing to stop and EXPERIENCE gratitude for.

Maybe I will start with something simple like the sky tomorrow morning, or the wonderful smell my horse has, or simply experience a nice warm bed on a cool fall morning (instead of grumping about getting out of it).

Do you have any tips for me or what I can do to approach her or should I just leave the situation alone hoping it will go away in time?

Thanks, N. R. Dear N.R., Avoiding a situation does have merit under certain circumstances. I don’t know the specifics concerning your situation, so it’s difficult to recommend advice for or against allowing the situation to play itself out. Those who know you—and who know your circumstances— might provide more helpful and more specific advice, but bottom line, after you’ve solicited advice, follow your spiritual intuition. That being said, I do have some guidance that might prove helpful.

The reason your co-worker avoids you may be because your co-worker misinterpreted something you said, or some action you took, or it could be a case of jealousy.

In that case, broaching the subject may yield positive results. We like to get along with people, and it bothers

us if we sense someone doesn’t like us. But, we have limited control over how someone else feels about us.

We can try opening the lines of communication, doing nice and loving things, but there are people who simply don’t like us for one reason or another. When something like that happens, I fall back on a modified version of the Serenity Prayer.

“Divine Spirit, grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know that one is me.” –author unknown.

I do recommend trying to repair the rift between the two of you, but if that fails, and if trying to change the other person’s opinion of you fails, then fall back on the advice of the modified Serenity Prayer. Change the one person you can—you. This may be a growth opportunity.

Accept that not everyone likes you.

Like—and love yourself anyway, and like them, too.

Consistent love and acceptance can work miracles if given enough time.

The Why of Cancer– And Why Not!

You may have questioned from time to time, do I have cancer, which is a horrible word because there is so little known about it. You may have the early beginnings of the “C” word and don’t even know if you do have “it”.

It is a constant thought on our minds because so many people around us are dying of the “C” word. There are many forms of cancer. There is lymphoma and leukemia and malignant tumors that affect different organs in different manners. Big pharma has one way with many different drugs that wipe out the immune system in order to kill the cancer. This has never made any sense to me to wipe out what you need to fight a monster such as cancer. This was perplexing to me even back in the fifties when I was involved in a major research lab that had cancer cures then. Unfortunately, the proven cures are not on the market today. It is obvious that big Pharma is not going to have anything on the market that would interfere with it’s 200 billion dollar year business. I asked the medical director of the research laboratory what was going to be done with the proven cures we had just spent thousands of dollars and a year of time testing. The response was “we don’t know what the overall systemic effects would be”. I stated that it does not make any difference, the patient is going to die anyway without it. It was a sad state of affairs coming from a well educated man.

The whole attempt in research was to manufacture a drug that could be patented and sold that no one could steal before the company made it’s millions.

None of the research was to find the cure for cancer.

The cure was too simple and could not be patented.

So most research organizations are not researching for the cause. How many years has research been going on with no cure and millions of dollars spent? Is the research headed in the right direction? I guess it has been said that if you don’t know where you are going, any route will get you there. That seems the pathway of a lot of research money that has been spent over the last 50 years that I know groups have been collecting money to do research for cancer. American Cancer Society has been around collecting money from the populous and the government and has not turned up anything toward any cures for cancer.

Yet in Rome, Italy, Dr. Tullio Simoncini, has published work that he has been very successful in treating malignant tumors. He stated “why is cancer still among us?” He discovered a very inexpensive way to cure and clear out cancerous tumors. Believe it or not he uses baking soda to dissolve malignant tumors. His success is about 98%. Not bad since chemo therapy is only 3% successful. In other words 97% of the cancer patients die doing chemotherapy the medical route.

He discovered that a fungus called candida albicans is the agent that causes the tumors. Many years ago I discovered the cause of lymphoma and leukemia. The same agent is the cause of lymphoma and leukemia malignancies. These two situations can be cured in about three weeks if patients stay on a candida diet and stay on a vitamin regimen.

Dr. Royal Rife back in the 20s and 30s was curing cancer with sound waves. Even then it was not popular to cure people of cancer. I had the good fortune to spend some time with John Crane who had been Dr. Rife’s right hand man for twenty years. I have concluded from what I learned from him and that I have observed through the darkfield microscope, that candida albicans wipes out the white and red blood cells giving viruses a free reign to do their damage without any interference.

Only interferon can trap a virus like a spider does by making a web to catch a fly that can then be eaten .

Once the interferon traps the virus, it is shuttled off to the lymphatic system and eliminated from our body.

The question has always been why do some people get cancer and some do not. Some people as a part of their diet eat a lot of sugary products such as cakes, cookies and ice cream. Alcohol which is nothing more than highly refined and processed sugar is a fermenting agent that makes candida multiply. It is an asexual reproducer. It does not need a female partner to reproduce. But so is the cake, cookies and ice cream, vinegar or anything sour are fermenting agents. What I have observed is that candida albicans, by destroying the WBCs and RBCs, wears out the adrenal glands, thymus gland, and the spleen function because they are required to work way beyond the call of duty.

genetics for some cause of cancer. I don’t think it is in the genes, but in the blood that is passed on with candida albicans in it. That is what is doing all the damage.

The pineal gland has a direct connection to the adrenal gland. This is why there is all the fatigue and the chronic fatigue syndrome, Pineal gland is not working.

HUncovering ypnotic Age Regression the Secrets of Memory

by William Molitor, BCH, CI Hypnotic Age Regression is a hypnotic phenomenon that occurs when a person is a state of hypnosis and receives a suggestion or instructions to recall an event from their past. While in a level of hypnosis often referred to as somnambulism you can recall past event as though it were occurring now.

Anyone can experience a successful regression; depending on the skills of the hypnotist and the trance state achieved each person may have a different experience.

Understanding the phenomena of a hypnotic age regression can greatly increase your ability to experience a true age regression.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind that allows you to accept what is suggested without critically analyzing each suggestion. During a true hypnotic age regression you begin to experience a past event with all of your senses. This creates a feeling of “as if real.”

Hypnotic regression has been used by professional hypnotists for many years. Over the past decade I have personally conducted hundreds of sessions working with clients that have experienced true age regression. One of the many advantages of using age regression is for helping recover lost items. During a regression session you can stop and start an event allowing more information, which may have been previously overlooked, to surface.

In a cased study from Tri-State Hypnosis Center a man in his late 60’s had hidden some very valuable jewelry. His description of the event was that he felt uncomfortable leaving jewelry worth thousands of dollars in his bed room. He believed that he hid them in his attic but when he went to retrieve them he had discovered that he had forgotten where in the attic he had hidden them.

During the regression session there was a few things discovered that he had consciously forgotten. He had

recalled in the pre-talk that he hid the jewelry while he was packing the night before to go visit his mother.

During the regression it was discovered that he was very stressed about having to leave his home for a few weeks to stay with his ailing mother. He had also just returned from a dinner with friends where he had a few drinks of alcohol, and was very tired. The decision to hide the jewelry was a last minute decision and he was unhappy that he could not just relax and enjoy his last evening at home.

This is an example of one of the many advantages of using age regression. Often events in your past can become distorted over time and create unwanted fears and emotional blocks. Being able to experience these events through regression offers you an opportunity to re-evaluate past events with your current information.

How often have you thought to yourself “If only I knew then what I know now” Regression cannot change what you experienced in the past but it can help you change how it affects you today.

After achieving somnambulism he began the experience standing in front of his chest of draws looking at the jewelry box. He began his recall by describing his actions and feelings as he carried the jewelry box up into the attic and discovered that the light bulb was burned out.

This created more frustration. He climbed back down the ladder and went into his study where he intended to place them in his desk which had a lock on it. While sitting at his desk he determined that it would be foolish to hide something somewhere that someone would surely look for valuables. He described his feeling at this point as being “furious.” He became unable to recall anything further so we deepened his state of hypnosis and started again from the bottom of the ladder to the attic. Nothing in this experience changed from the first experience until he was sitting back at his desk feeling furious. He then recalled that he had decided at that point to put them somewhere that nothing of value was kept. He chose a cleaning closet in the breezeway between the house and garage. He stated that even his wife and children never went into this closet because it was dark and dirty. He described moving several boxes out of the way before putting the box of jewelry under two old paint cans in the back of the closet and placing the boxes back in front of them. He also recalled that he thought to himself “I would never find them here.” We stopped the recall at that point and moved back to the time that he was sitting at his desk and again proceeded with the event of hiding the jewelry. His verbal description of the action that he took to hide the jewelry box was exactly the same as his previous account.

Age Regression requires special training and experience on the part of a professional hypnotists and can provide much more depth to most all hypnotherapy experiences.

After He was fully emerged from hypnosis he said that he had already gone to that closet several times but each time felt that he had not hidden the box there. He stated that he was now certain that the jewelry box was under the paint cans and could even remember the color and the manufactures’ name on the cans of paint. He reported that he went straight home and retrieved the box from under the paint cans.

Investigations of the Uninvited

Last year my friend Ted had a heart attack at the age of 50. He was recovering after the incident when he called, told me what had happened and asked me to tune into his situation psychically.

What I saw was an angel who guided him safely through the experience and tended to him while he recovered. But there was another entity there waiting in case he didn’t make it. It looked demonic like a gargoyle and I recognized it as an earth elemental. It was waiting to process Ted’s remains if he had died, returning the elements of his physical body back into the earth - ashes to ashes and dust to dust. It seemed disappointed that it did not get the chance to do this and then retreated back to its subterranean realm.

But its presence indicated that Ted had come rather close to death.

I had seen earth elementals -a class of entities living in the earth which includes gnomes, goblins and trolls - around crystal vendors, and sometimes in basements, during paranormal investigations. They vary in size and appearance, though they’re all pretty ugly and scary looking! The first one I saw was the size of a large human - he was curled up under a table of mineral specimens at an expo. Most are smaller.

I started wondering whether these earth elementals were responsible for some of our ancestor’s beliefs about Hell being located deep in the earth, or of demons dragging souls into an earthly abyss. But these elementals are not demons. Their purpose is to tend to the mineral kingdom and to recycle dead things back into their essential elements.

Real demons are associated with the snares, traps and webs humans get trapped in, like butterflies in a spider’s web. I have seen them around people enslaved by addiction and hopelessness, around people who are about to hurt someone or do something very bad, and in locations where there is a lot of discord and negativity. They can take on different forms but usually look black, often winged, like bats. They

My most recent encounter with vampires was last winter. I had checked into a Columbus hotel near Ohio State University. I realized that the vampires who took my energy were discarnate humans who had lived lives of crime and after death remained earthbound, continuing to take and use on the astral plane. It was an unpleasant but valuable learning experience.

Fennel and Grapefruit Salad The Great Pumpkin (Winter’s Jewel Salad)

INGREDIENTS: •2 fennel bulbs sliced razor thin •1 ruby red grapefruit, peeled and sectioned •1 yellow grapefruit peeled and sectioned •2 pomegranates, seeded •4-5 heads Boston lettuce rinsed and torn into bite size pieces DIRECTIONS: 1. Rinse pomegranate seeds and pat dry 2. Spin lettuce dry 3. Toss ingredients together in a bowl 4. Serve with Grapefruit vinaigrette

Grapefruit Vinaigrette INGREDIENTS: •Juice of two grapefruit, 1 red, 1 yellow •¼ cup white wine vinegar •½ -1 cup olive oil •2 Tbs. honey •1 tbs. cracked black pepper DIRECTIONS: 1. Place all ingredients except oil in food processor 2. Blend together 3. Add olive oil a little at a time until emulsified 4. Adjust oil and vinegar until balanced

One of the first signs that can remind us of Fall, is our search for that perfect pumpkin. Activities and fun filled events include a trip to a pumpkin patch, to carve and create a unique Jack 0’ Lantern, typically for Halloween. A variety of winter squash, the pumpkin and seeds have been used by the Native American cultures since ancient times. Are we aware of the pumpkin’s unique healing qualities? It is packed full of antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, and many valuable minerals, including zinc. Pumpkin seeds are armed with amino and essential fatty acids, including fiber, and four times the amount of beta carotene that is found in carrots. Pumpkin seeds have been used as a soothing diuretic and to help relieve an irritable bladder.

They have also been used as an effective treatment for enlarged prostate. There are two uncommon amino acids found in the seeds. Cucurbitin, which has been one of the most efficient remedies for killing intestinal parasites, and Myosin, the primary protein constituent of nearly all muscles in the body, which is important in the chemistry of muscle contraction. Pumpkin seeds have been helpful to alleviate the painful symptoms of gout, and reduce swelling of the knees and ankles. Like the seeds, the fruit of the pumpkin, that is used in a variety of dishes, is one of the best sources of carotenoids, antioxidants that reduce the risk of cancer.

There are so many ways to use pumpkin for cooking and baking. The seeds can be roasted for a tasty and healthy snack. Pumpkin pie has been one of the most traditional pies of the season, especially for the holiday of Thanksgiving. With an abundance of nutrients that pumpkins provide, the benefits make it the “Emperor of the garden,” appropriately named by the Chinese.

The Strength to Persevere

Elements of progress are evident as circumstances and events portray for us difficulties that arise without reason but still must be dealt with as we seek to overcome that which we have encountered upon our journey. Blessings from Spirit with encouragement, love, and support sustained within our beings allows us to carry the day with the strength, wisdom, courage, and confidence that enables the realization that for all issues presented, a solution is provided that fulfils the destiny of our purpose and allows us to rise above all distractions that would otherwise impair our ability to fulfill the highest potential we carry within us throughout this existence.

Perseverance, that innate ability that draws from us the will to pursue and overcome in spite of all obstacles and opposition allows the unfoldment of true character drawn from within our beings that shall not deter or forsake our efforts to accomplish and achieve the greatness that lies within us. Look within to discover the strength to persevere and let not your being be swayed from your chosen path by the wiles of those who would impede your progress and hold you at a level that you are above in being reflecting their lack of ambition, imagination, and insight. Strive always for the highest possible communication with Spirit in your quest to achieve. Thou hast made thyself worthy and all good things shall come to thee.

EOur xpectations – Always Influencing View of the World

by Kathy Vaske When someone else does not live up to our expectations, we feel let down and devalued. Many of us spend our whole lives living inside our own head. We never stop to think how we perceive the world to be is not how others look at the world. Some of us find ourselves waking up in our 60’s sometimes, only to realize our whole life could have been different if we had just let other people into our world. When we look back we can often track a present day issue to a time in the past, that we just assumed the worst of a situation or another person when we ourselves never gave the other person or situation a chance.

Aging seems to bring a lot of things into focus for us. The older we get the more we realize there are a lot of shades of gray to any issue and that we need to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. We cannot automatically assume just because another person does not do whatever it is we feel they should do or do things just how we want them done at the time, that they wanted to hurt us in some way. We forget that there are as many or more different perspectives on life and as many different ways of doing things as there are numbers of people on the earth. We get very busy sometimes thinking that others think the worst of us or that other people don’t like us when we don’t give them any opportunity to get to know us.

We want to remember that going into anything in life with a preconceived idea of just how things has to be done to meet our expectations assures us of being unhappy with the outcome. We want to go into things with the idea of allowing things to unfold the way the universe has intended them to do. We each have our own unique abilities and talents that we apply to whatever we do in life and this shows in all situations we find ourselves in. Many times it is our own expectations that are not being met at any given time that causes us to be angry at or hurt by another person. We need to choose the company we keep very carefully and be sure the ones we choose are the ones that lift us up and help us to see the value in ourselves. We want to be sure that the energy we exude to others is always helpful and kind. When we have a chance to choose being right or being kind, try to always choose being kind. The energy we give out to others is always being mirrored back to us. This is the way we continually create our world we find ourselves in on a day to day basis.

We can change our world by requiring more of ourselves and holding ourselves to a higher standard in all situations in life than maybe we have done in the past. Lets clear our own energy before we try to clear anyone else’s.

A Simple Healing Method Eases the Pain of Grief or Trauma

If you have ever participated in a wedding rehearsal, you know what it’s like. To me as a minister, it is like herding cats. Laughing, joking distracted cats. That’s what I expect at every rehearsal I supervise.

But this Thursday evening was different.

When I walked into the sanctuary I found Dad sitting in a pew sobbing his heart out.

The bride quickly came to my side and led me out the door to the lawn. “I need to explain this to you,” she said. “My sister and her son died in a wreck two weeks ago. Don and I are going ahead with the ceremony because we can’t afford not to. But the tone of the wedding will have to be different from what you and I planned.”

If only they had known to tell me about Dad before now.

Using LIIFT, Dad could have become functional for the rehearsal. (LIIFT stands for Life Improving Internal Focus Technique.)

You see, the grief-release process of the LIIFT healing program assists someone like Dad to turn down the grief from Overload to Manageable. This typically happens in a very short time rather than days, weeks or months using psychotherapies.

As it was, I did use LIIFT to enable Dad to be OK for the wedding itself. After rehearsal, with everyone else gone to dinner, I guided Dad into the beginning of the LIIFT griefrelease process. Then I sat with him as the healing took place.

Actually, his brain had done the work of releasing the grief. I had simply provided the circumstances and the instructions so the brain could do it now.

The wedding ceremony went fine the next day. Standing proud, dad walked his radiant daughter down the aisle to join her chosen man in marriage. He still knew he had lost one daughter. Core Strengthening for Everyone

by Lisa Gerard Core exercises stabilize the skeleton which leads to better balance. Core strengthening exercises are for everyone, no matter what physical limitations one may have. Organ wellness equals physical wellness equals mental wellness equals balance.

An everyday activity such as walking, is a core exercise. Go for a walk—wear comfortable walking shoes and go for a walk. Hold your head up, chin parallel to the ground, swing your arms, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth and soak in the scenery. Walking paths in the park are ideal but just walking in your neighborhood can be just as special, even if you only walk to the corner and back.

There are countless benefits to walking, benefits that range from easing back pain, reducing the risk of a stroke, and mental wellness by relieving stress.

Walking also structurally stabilizes the skeleton by making your bones stronger.

Another fun and great exercise that is a huge hit at my house is dancing. Yes, get your groove on. Turn it up and move to the beat of your favorite song. Can’t move your feet? Chair dancing is just as fun and can still be effective. Dancing is also a great activity to do with your kids. Dance to their favorite music, however, this may promote lots of laughing, which is also a great exercise. Laughing, dancing, and possibly some singing is an awesome way to relieve stress and exercise.

Laughing! Is a core exercise that we take for granted and don’t do enough of. Laughing out loud relieves stress, increases metabolism as well as helping lung and heart health. There are specific laughing exercises you can do and workshops you can attend.

Personally I don’t have to go far to get a good laugh, I have children. I have a huge family and the humor is endless. I also work with children and adults who make me laugh everyday. Laugh Often and Laugh Out Loud!

Core exercising doesn’t take lots of planning, scheduling, or time. These are exercises that you can

do every day to instill a healthy happy life for the whole family. Looking at your daily routine and adjusting these activities to an exercise is fun and easy.

by Tommy R. Thompson, DC, NMD, LaC Fall is arriving even with the heat index soaring this week, the final summer days are going to be a thing of the past cooler weather will prevail. This time of the year brings the allergies season and the effects of the overlap of late summer or earth element dampness and fall dryness. I want to discuss a disease in (TCM) traditional Chinese medicine called “phlegm retention.” Last issue I spoke of the Dampness of late summer, this effect will continue through the mid fall. The METAL element is coming, one of the 5 elements, in succession of the changes of the season. If you have been following these articles, I spoke of the fall and the metal element in the past and how the lung and large intestine are affected and the symptoms related to large intestine, which is sinuses obstruction, skin dryness, and increase of the grief emotion....

So what is “Phlegm retention?” It is the pathology of aging that will get worse when we age; Phlegm retention symptoms are fuzziness in the head, rhinitis, sinusitis, dizziness, ringing of the ears, headaches and burning and watery eyes. In Western Medicine this disease is labeled as allergies and infection of the

sinuses, vertigo, headaches etc. Yet, even when treated with antibiotics, and medication, symptoms will return and your gut flora will continue to be changed with the antibiotics therapy. I have seen so many sinus surgery failures where they literally remove the bone and cartilage, and the symptoms still remain.

To remove phlegm from the head and other areas of the body, acupuncture works well in clearing this condition by using points to clear the channels and herbal remedies designed to clear phlegm in the head, so that clear chi moves to the head. Chi that does not move in the head becomes turbid along with all the mentioned symptoms. Chi stagnation is the precursor to this condition. The use of the tri-heater, triple burner channels are a big part of this treatment. The 3 burners in TCM, are the movement of fluids in the lower burner area which is the navel area and below, middle burner is the chest to the navel, and the upper burner is the head and neck. With lack of chi or energy movement these conditions can manifest. First comes chi stagnation, then dampness, and then this congeals if it doesn’t move. Edema and masses can occur, for example, the lower burner can be women’s uterus

fibroids, or cycle changes. In men the problems can be prostate disturbances, including prostatitis. Middle burner is digestive disturbances, and spleen issues, or pancreas disorders. Also blood sugar issues, digestion pathologies, decrease in production of enzymes, ulcers, and a myriad of colon issues can occur. Head and neck upper burner pathology, as mentioned above, can result in nose polyps, and goiters..

If you suffer from this condition of phlegm retention of the upper burner, and have been treating it with antibiotics, and the symptoms keep returning, try acupuncture. Stay off dairy, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and antibiotics. Otherwise, it becomes latent heat and is hidden pathology that returns time and time again.

On the other hand, increase of stressors, eating on the run, and taking in foods that trigger your immune system, is a large part of phlegm retention. It is diet related, so you never really shake this disease. If you have not tried acupuncture you should consider a therapeutic round. I am teaching a class that will give you all the tools and know-how on how to get healthy and stay that way. The classes are limited to keep the cost down for everyone. They are going to be one hour long on a monthly basis. There will be six classes for the first segment.

The first class will start on the 19th of September, at 7:00PM at the offices of Valley Chiropractic Center, Inc. The only cost will be $25.00, the cost of the manual that will be used in the classes for the first six classes. After the first class they will be held on the first Thursday of each month until we have covered all the material.

The classes will cover every major organ, there functions and what to look for when they don’t function. Then what you use and do to correct the malfunction. All this is well covered in the manual that you purchase and is discussed in the class. You will become an expert physiologist and what to do to make your organs do what they are supposed to do.
