Lorikeets are small colorful birds that are pollinating parrots, as they travel from bloom to bloom, lorikeets help to spread pollen to plants that need to reproduce. The Lorikeet’s natural habitat is the forest, originating from Australia, they are highly social birds, and naturally like to hang out in flocks.

Lorikeets are so unique and fun to watch, they can chatter, whistle and make funny sounds, they can actually hang upside down to feed from flower to flower.

See the Bird show and other events in action at the Cincinnati Zoo. The shows are located at the Great American Wings of Wonder Amphitheater and are free with admission to the zoo.

Food on the Run Can Hurt Your Kids!

by Dr. Susan Payson It is intuitive – we know that fast food is unhealthy. Yet we feed our kids Happy Meals, french fries, pizzas, tacos, etc, anyway. Why? Probably because while we know it’s unhealthy, we don’t really think it’s TOXIC, so that must mean it’s ok to eat, plus it’s easy to fill the kids’ bellies with when we’re in a hurry. Right? If someone were to ask you WHY fast food is unhealthy, would you list these facts: trans fats cause heart disease, high calorie items make you fat, and there is little nutritional value to the food? True, all true. But what about all of those weird chemical type names on the ingredient list? Would you be surprised to learn that some of those substances are tremendously toxic to children, and can be found even on the ‘healthy’ menu – including the fruit?

Here are some fast food ingredients that you may have heard of but were not aware were toxic to your children’s health: 1)MSG: monosodium glutamate. A big baddie. One of the most commonly used flavoring agents in fast food, processed/ packaged food, and restaurant food. It can also be found in baby food, toddler food, and vegetarian/health foods at your grocery store. Yup, you read that right! You may not find ‘MSG’ on the ingredient list (for fast food the list can be found on the restaurant’s web site), but you will see it listed under these other names: yeast extract, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, disodium guanylate, disodium isoinate, hydrolyzed protein, autolyzed yeast extract, or caseinate.

Why is MSG such a big deal? It is suspected to be addictive and has also been shown to lower blood sugar more rapidly than is normal after eating so that you are hungry sooner, leading to weight gain/obesity. It can also cause diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, and reflux. MSG, like aspartame,

is an excitotoxin. Excitotoxins can cross the blood-brain barrier and cause brain damage and even brain tumors. Dr Russell Blaylock, neurosurgeon and health food expert, indicated in the above article that he believes that the rapid rise in neurological disorders, like autism and ADD, may be attributed to these excitotoxins! Also keep in mind that MSG is a product of fermentation. In general, fermenting food can cause systemic candidal overgrowth, of which skin rashes and food allergies can be symptoms.

As I researched this article I wondered if MSG could also foster candidal overgrowth. How many of the children I have seen as ER patients who have histories of eczema, food allergies/sensitivities, ADD, autism, obesity, reflux, IBS, or brain tumors that could have been the result of this one totally useless non-necessary flavor enhancer? It is heart breaking to consider – even if the answer is only one – because that child’s suffering was 100% preventable.

2)Soy: can be present in fast food in various forms. Soy has a high amount of glutamate, so it can be as problematic as MSG. Interesting to note that it can cause headaches and migraines, which many children seem to be diagnosed with in recent years.

3)Xanthum gum and Dextrin: also products of fermentation, which may be associated with candidal overgrowth and resultant food allergies (as mentioned in MSG above).

4)Food dyes: many types, including caramel color and red dye. They have been suspected to cause children nightmares and to worsen ADD and ADHD. Some have been made illegal in other countries but not in the US. 5)Flavorings: Natural vs artificial naming of flavors has nothing to do with whether the flavor actually is naturally occuring or chemically created. It has to do with how it was treated and processed. This means that if the process classifies as natural then a flavor that is distilled with solvents can be legally called ‘natural’.

6)Lighter fluid, or TBHQ (in small amounts, of course), antifreeze (also low amounts), sand, titanium dioxide (sunscreen), and dimethylpolysiloxane (found in silicone caulk) are also in your child’s fast food – be it nuggets, fruit, salad, or chili.

Fast food is not for children, even though it is convenient for oh so many reasons (I am guilty!). So many articles and journals I read indicate that the health of the children of the USA is in rapid decline. Epidemic obesity, diabetes, neurologic disorders as well as an explosive increase in serious food allergies has made us all wonder – what is the

cause? Reading the above descriptions of some fast food, or toxic food, ingredients should reveal part of the answer to you. So much of this can be attributed to toxic food.

Not only can fast food make your child’s existing health problem worse, but it can actually cause health problems – some of which are permanent. The convenience of fast food is just not worth the damage to your child’s health – not to mention the harm that it can do to you!

At home, I would leave certain chores go undone because I was unable to do them without having severe pain. That has been changed around since becoming a patient. Now I feel like I am actually accomplishing things at home.

The Magic of Overcoming Fear Harry Potter Style

by William Molitor, BCH, CI The title of this article may suggest that hypnosis is magic.

Depending on your definition of magic, it could be. However, most definitions of magic include the word “supernatural” or imply that magic is “supernatural”; the fact that Hypnosis is 100% natural, however, rules out the suggestion of magic, entirely. You could, with some imagination, compare a hypnotic script to a spell that was used in the Harry Potter movies. The spell I am referring to was a simple charm requiring the person casting it to visualize his or her worst fear in an amusing form while reciting the incantation “Riddikulus” (ridiculous). The results were that their minds did not create any fear as long as they were thinking and visualizing something amusing.

Fear covers a wide variety of issues that I personally find rewarding to work with for the simple reason that when someone is able to release a life long fear in just a matter of a couple of hypnosis sessions it has a profound effect on many areas of their life.

Often, during the course of a pre-interview a client will say that the feeling of fear that he/she describes as panic attacks or anxiety attacks makes him/her feel as if their feelings have taken control over their rational thinking mind as well as their physical body. In some ways this is true. When the mind creates a thought that results in the belief that there is a threat it will leap into action. This action will quickly override the rational thinking process and, if left unchecked, can create havoc in ones’ life.

I have seen what has been described by many as miraculous changes in fear responses with the proper use of hypnosis.

When someone who has been dealing with a specific fear that has plagued him/her for most or all of their life, such as a fear of spiders, can with one or two hypnosis sessions remove all ill reaction to a spider crawling on their arm, he/she would call that miraculous. To be able to fly in an airplane after suffering from a debilitative “fear of flying” for years, this also would be called miraculous. I could continue, but the truth is that nearly anyone suffering from fears or phobias can change that suffering with the proper use of hypnosis.

Imagine being able to go anywhere that you want, be around anything, anytime free of the feelings of unexplainable fear. For many this would be a dream come true. Scientific

research has proven beyond a doubt that stress created by fear can have many detrimental effects on your health. So let’s look at some of the things that you can do to improve your life using the power of your own mind.

Many fears are the results of habitual thoughts. Habits are thoughts that have been repeated enough times to become automatic. Imagine if you were able to change any thought that created an unwanted habit. You could change the way you eat, you could alleviate fears and phobias, decrease stress, even improve your sports performance. These are just some of the every day issues that people use hypnosis for.

One way that you can improve your life quickly is to learn about your self talk. This is, in my opinion, the most critical skill that you should focus on. It is not difficult to master and has immediate positive results. All professional hypnotists know the strength of self talk and apply this knowledge in what is commonly known as hypnotic scripts. The real difference between a good hypnotist and a great hypnotist is the ability to introduce strong positive self talk to the subconscious mind of his/her clients.

Self talk is a program that you are running about yourself, and it comes primarily from the subconscious part of your mind.

Some fears are adopted or inherited. They can come from your family, friends or even social groups such as schools and churches. You may have been told about how scary a snake is or witnessed someone else’s response to seeing a snake and accepted that response and began to use it automatically. This adopted response was not based on your own logic but simply based on an observation. The more times that you respond in this automatic way, the stronger the habitual response becomes.

Many of these automatically learned responses are learned at a subconscious level - meaning you may not have any conscious recollection of receiving the information or of formulating a course of action.

This can be the same with a professional hypnosis session.

You naturally go in out of the various hypnotic states or levels throughout your entire life. While in these natural hypnotic states the conscious mind is “by-passed”; this is part of the definition of Hypnosis: “the by-passing of the critical faculty of the conscious mind”, and is why hypnosis is so successful in dealing with fears.

Other fear responses are the results of personal experiences. This is where hypnosis can help with what is commonly referred to as panic or anxiety attacks. I will use a common example of a fear of driving to help explain this. The first time that you experience the physical feelings of unexplained fear and or anxiety you may

have been driving on a highway. The thoughts that created the fear could have absolutely nothing to do with what you were actually doing but the conscious mind not knowing that the fear response was coming from the subconscious at the time of the experience may assume that it had to do with driving or highways or both. A new fear is born that has no conscious logical explanation.

Learning to consciously choose your thoughts and create positive self talk is vital in overcoming fears that are not based in logic. You don’t need a magic wand or magic potions. You already have everything you need and hypnosis is 100% natural.

The Essence of Love

by Marcia Cantrell Love and tranquility are one and the same. You must have one to have the other. Many people during these times are often fooled into believing they possess love and tranquility. The fooling comes in the form of earthly desires. These desires often come in the appearance of love relationships and material objects. The love of our lives and material objects can only last for a short time.

One becomes dissatisfied and begins to look for the real soulmate, often this occurs many times in ones lifetime.

Our material objects loose their luster as we look to the Jones who have a bigger house, newer car, boat, etc. Our tranquility leaves.

For love and tranquility to stay in the true essence of love we must look beyond our earthly desires and objects to fine what the true meaning of Pure Love is all about. True

Dining Alone

I am the Executive Director of Hope Springs Institute, a retreat center in the foothills of Appalachia, near Peebles, Ohio. We spend a great deal of time creating beautiful meals with nutrient rich, fresh healthy foods. We use beautiful bowls made of glass, porcelain, and earthenware pots to serve these meals. The people who come here serve themselves in a buffet line and eat at large tables in the farmhouse living and dining rooms.

When I began working as a chef, I treasured ďŹ nishing work and going home to cook for myself. I loved preparing exactly what I wanted; exactly how I wanted it; with the wines I chose. It was how I unwound from the pressure of a fast-paced, demanding kitchen. I listened to music; set the table; used the ďŹ ne crystal.

I never minded eating alone like I had when I left home and worked in the retail world.

We work hard to make sure the food is beautiful. We work hard to make sure that it is just as beautiful to eat as it is to look at and, that the result of this food prepared with such care, is the joy of a pleasing meal shared in good company. I have spent time and ink on these pages before insisting that we must truly understand the intimate and communal act that dining with others really is.

Now, I am surrounded by a world dedicated to healing relationships and building community and I am in it alone most of the time. I began practicing the One Bowl method of eating to combat the loneliness of dining alone. I still make beautiful food for myself. I simply eat it one course at a time in a small earthen bowl that ďŹ ts in my hand. The idea is that we need to be attached to our food, not detached with a trough in front of us and endless options to shovel down. Eating a small salad with a tiny amount of salad dressing means really tasting the salad greens. I love biting into arugula. The blast of earthy pepper is amazing. I spend time with my salad because I have no other food sitting in front of me begging me to stop eating my salad and try the next thing.

Oddly, because most of our work is centered on weekend scheduling, and because my family is still in transition and living in the city, I spend a great deal of time dining alone. Many years ago, before I became a chef, I bought a cookbook that made cooking for one sound fun. Freeze portions; invite friends over for potluck two days from now. Have geographically themed meals.

It also had tips like, set a place for your cat; eat on a tray in a bubble bath with candles. I did some of that. It was alright but nothing like the noisy family table I had grown up with.

I eat a small 3-4 serving of soup. It is so close to my nose as I hold my bowl, I can smell the spices and almost taste the garlic without even opening my mouth. I eat each of my vegetables

individually. Each item is a revelation as I slowly and purposefully eat my meals. Because I am a bit of a carnivore, I usually choose to eat meats last. I slowly cut my meats on a cutting board and then place them in my bowl. If sauce is required or desired, I place a very small dot of it on the inside of the bowl wall. Mostly, I am a meat purist and I enjoy slowly eating steak or fish or chicken in small bites.

I have learned that many times I do not need as much food as I thought I did. Dining one course at a time slows me down. I have to wash my bowl between courses. This means I have time to really sit with my food for a few minutes and decide if I am really still hungry or not. So, I am eating less and losing weight.

The most interesting thing about this experiment in dining alone is that I have developed a new dining companion: the food. I am learning so much about the marriage of tastes and textures that I am sure I knew once when the whole culinary world was new and exciting. I am learning that while mealtime IS all about community, it can also be about communion with self and with the elements that make the meal. Dining alone is another way we heal our relationship with food and our attitudes about it. While my small bowl made with love by my partner, will never be as wonderful as dining with my family and friends, it is a gift I am learning to give myself.

Spiritual Connection

by Jean Jeffers meals, a seeker may spend one to three or four, or more days away, contemplating nature and the spiritual life.

Do you wish for a deeper spiritual connection? Do you find you are empty or just making do? Maybe you find yourself depleted or running out of energy?

In the modern world there are many things that take our time and attention. Our children need carpooling, cupcakes need baking for school, teacher conference is tonight. Or there is a potluck at work, an after- hours party for managers. In the meantime, some of life is passing by unattended.

It is all too often the case that we make our attendance at church sporadic, shorten our daily prayer time, or skip it altogether. Business takes over, and it is days, even weeks, before we think about the Lord.

Today there are many forms of accepted and popular supports, such as counselors and psychologists, for our emotional problems, job coaches for our business pursuits, but just what efforts do we employ for our spiritual lives?

There are resources available to help us deepen our spiritual lives: 1. Having a spiritual companion to journey with us. A spiritual director or companion comes at minimal cost, and can do a lot to listen to us, and walk our walk with us. A Stephen minister may be available at your church to journey with you as well.

Both have training in the skill of communication and some religious training, and may help to jump start a failing spiritual life.

2.Going on retreat is another way to invigorate our spirit. Situated in picturesque landscape, having room for accommodations and provision of meals, an available spiritual guide, as well as a chapel and grounds, a retreat may take us to a better place.

There are various types of facilities available. Some are in the city but most are situated in quiet pristine surroundings. For a minimal donation for lodging and

3.Using contemporary alternative treatments such as massage and yoga. They are found nearer to home, and help to de-stress, thereby renewing the spirit.

There are massage therapists who include the spiritual in their work and who come at a moderate cost.

4.For the everyday, setting aside a time for daily prayer may give the seeker a much needed spiritual lift. There are any number of available gospel commentaries and daily meditation booklets on the market. Usually a religious bookstore would be able to supply what is needed.

Developing spiritual practices for the seasons is also a good habit to acquire. Being intent on practices such as putting Christ into Christmas, fasting and doing penances during Lent, foster a spiritual life.

Reading a spiritual book on the lives of the Saints will focus the seeker on good spiritual qualities.

5.Doing daily meditation is also recommended. It is a form of relaxation, and may rejuvenate a failing spirit. It lowers B/P and helps energy as well perhaps jumpstarting a spiritual life.

6.Sometimes all that is needed is a little “me” time. A haircut and styling, a new outfit, taking time to apply makeup and attend to appearance, could aid the hassled housewife or the weary worker.

It is not too much to ask to have an hour to yourself each day. Use that time for pampering and meeting your needs in whatever way is appropriate.

In addition, getting some real “fun” in occasionally, is vital. Whether this is girls’ night out, or time with your mate for a date, build in fun. Fun can also be having a blast with the kids playing dominoes. Just so it is fun.

Implementing one or more of the suggestions will add to your spiritual life, if only in terms of energy and a

better mood. Ask the Lord for guidance in what to try, and see the difference these measures may make in your life.

Coconut Chicken INGREDIENTS: • 1 (14 ounce) can coconut milk, divided • 1 clove garlic, minced • 1 tablespoon soy sauce • 1 tablespoon lime juice

egg, and finally into the coconut crumb mixture. Place the coated strips onto the prepared baking sheet.

4.Bake the chicken strips in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes.

5.Mix the reserved coconut milk and mayonnaise in a small saucepan, and bring to a simmer over mediumlow heat; serve the sauce drizzled over the chicken strips or on the side for dipping.

• 1 1/2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into strips • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut • 1 cup panko bread crumbs • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour • 1 egg, beaten • 1/2 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise

DIRECTIONS: 1.Pour half the coconut milk, the garlic, soy sauce, and lime juice into a resealable plastic zipper bag, and shake to thoroughly combine the marinade. Place the chicken strips into the bag, squeeze several times to coat the chicken with marinade, and refrigerate at least 3 hours. Reserve the rest of the coconut milk.

2.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and grease with olive oil.

3.Place the shredded coconut into a blender or food processor and pulse several times until the coconut is ground into crumbs. Mix it with panko crumbs, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Place the flour into a second bowl, and the egg into a third shallow bowl.

Shake excess marinade from chicken strips, and dip them into the flour to thoroughly coat; then dip into

Balancing Act

by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger This issue of Infinity centers on balance and harmony.

We started to think about how this theme might apply to animals, and we realized balance is essential in our relationships with animals in many ways.

Whether we are talking about our domestic dogs and cats, our horses, our pet snake, our goldfish, or the wild animals we see every day, survival for animals is dependent upon a delicate balance between instinct and the ability to think.

This is tough for us to understand as humans sometimes, especially when we consider our laid back older dog or cat who has lived as part of our family for years. We forget that this loving member of our family, trusted with our children and our home, reliable friend and companion, indeed has an instinctual nature. We are sometimes shocked when this same loving animal exhibits aggression towards a new, younger dog or cat being introduced as a new family member. We react with disgust and horror when our cat lovingly leaves us a mouse head on our rug as a way of reassuring us that they love us and are doing their job of taking care of the family. We have a hard time watching how horses interact when a new horse enters an existing herd.

Why do we become shocked and dismayed when we encounter a reminder that our beloved companion still retains their non�domesticated, instinctual nature? One factor could be that we ourselves have become far removed from Nature, from our own instinctive responses to survival threats. Another factor could be our inclination to anthropomorphize the behavior of our pets – we assume that they think like us and are motivated by similar things. In doing this we are being disrespectful in not acknowledging and honoring the true nature of the animals we live with.

We have asked our companion animals to exist in our world, and we expect them to understand what the rules are. In reality, what we are asking them to do is change the natural balance they have between instinct and thought; we expect them to think instead of react. This creates a barrier to understanding, compassion, and mutual respect.

In essence, we have asked them to be like us – to deny their instinctual nature.

Horses are great examples of an exquisite balance between instinct and thought as motivators of behavior. Because

horses are prey animals, their instinctive natures are much closer to the surface.

When they become uncomfortable, anxious, or afraid their instincts take charge of their behavior. This is essential in the wild in order for them to escape a predator. Horses behave in this way even in a stall or a paddock – they will try to flee when they feel unsafe. If they cannot, they become even more agitated.

This instinctive behavior can override their affection and trust in their human. They are simply incapable of interrupting their instinctive response in order to THINK. They are either reacting from instinct or thinking about the situation. They cannot do both simultaneously. Those of us who live with horses always remember this, and act accordingly. We love our horses, but we understand that when they are afraid or uneasy, their motivation is to get away from whatever is causing the fear. In that situation, we humans are a predator to the horse, and so we must make sure we keep ourselves safe and out of the horse’s way.

Nature shows us over and over again the value of balancing instinct and thought. Both have a place in us as human beings. Both are essential to our animal companions. In order to have a healthy and respectful relationship, we must learn to understand and honor the instinctive behavior of the animals we live with, and to help them through situations where instinct and not thought are motivating their behavior.

Give Peace a Chance

by Charley Sky Greetings everyone. I hope you are having a fine summer.

I am working on my magnum opus, so I am in a flurry of activity, to say the least. I am filming a documentary that explores the concept creating world peace. I thought I would pick something simple and work my way into other films.

Of course many people think world peace would be a great idea, but when I ask them if they think it is possible, the vast majority say no. Given the current state of the planet I must agree. However, I am of the belief that a new era can be ushered in, and not only that, we “must” bring about a new way of thinking. War, even though it has been around for hundreds of thousands of years, does not work. Everyone loses in war, ultimately there are no winners.

There have been quantum leaps in our evolutionary history, like moving out of the dark ages into a period of enlightenment.

I believe we have it within us to create a shift in the current paradigm. I also believe we have reached a juncture in the earths history where there are more people than ever who see the truth, that war does not solve problems long term. And, that the cost in human life is too great a price to pay.

I do not believe that this can be accomplished in my lifetime, but I know we can crank up the volume a bit regarding peace, and that it is an idea whose time has come.

This is where all of us, as human beings, enter the stage.

We the people of earth, en-mass, must use the voice of our numbers to create this era, to usher in a golden age. We have left it up to the politicians and the military throughout the ages. It is obvious that these people are incompetent when it comes to getting the job done. Not only that, but many within these ranks have a vested interest monetarily in keeping the military industrial complex alive.

I am a strong believer in world peace, but must confess, and I am certain this is true with all of us because of how our brains are wired, i.e. we are hard wired for survival, that if you cut me off in traffic, especially if my safety seems at risk, well good luck, I may not show up very peaceful. Even individually we must strive for peace.

I notice how much more peaceful I have become just by virtue of making my movie. This certainly is a strong testament to the so called secret to all success, i.e. “You must become what you think about”, in other words, your predominant thoughts. I am focused on peace, so I feel more peaceful.

So, I am asking, as I often do, that you try another of my so called experiments. Practice thinking about peace, meditating on peace, and doing your best to “be peace” for a week. There is nothing to lose, and everything to gain. This type of thinking will not only lower blood pressure, and help in a myriad number of ways health wise, it will improve your entire outlook on life. Others will no doubt notice the changes that are taking place in you, and probably comment that “something is different” about you.

Well I better close for now and resume work on my film.

Sport Drinks - Powerful Facts

D.C., F.A.S.A. How do you contaminate something as good as water. Just plain old H2O. But believe it or not, there is a lot of power in a gallon of water. I know, because a number of years ago I cleared a large high school building with all it’s students in it with a gallon of water.

I had done an experiment of electrolysis with a gallon of water. In a separate gallon can I put the hydrogen and in another gallon can I put the oxygen.

Water, having two molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of oxygen can be separated by electrolysis.

Some of you may know how this is done. By using a simple battery and two electrodes, it is a very simple process. As I explained to the principal of the high school, I wanted to understand the propulsion ability of each substance. So I ignited the opening of the can of hydrogen, which was accompanied by a very large BOOM! And proceeded to by propelled across the classroom, rocking the foundation of the school building. Needless to say, the fire alarms went off and all students were told to exit the building. I spent the rest of the afternoon in the principal’s office explaining why I did such a thing.

So I know there is a lot of power in water.

However, do you have to contaminate water with chemicals such as caffeine, dyes, carbonic acid, sugar, corn syrup laced with mercury, nutrasweet (pheylalanine and aspartine) as well as other mineral products that add to the flavor? In addition there is added coloring agents and preservatives such as sorbates and BHT which are known to be toxic agents to the body. I know all these things make the drinks taste good, but are they good for you?

Some of the drinks are so loaded with caffeine that the adrenal glands are bouncing off the wall.

Yes the adrenal glands, which sit on top of your kidneys, is a power source that makes your heart go so fast and your legs go like gangbusters. When

stimulated it is better known as “adrenaline” being produced, which makes your heart beat accelerate.

This action gives you strength for the occasion, but can be very short in endurance. Weight lifters use some of these drinks to increase their capacity to lift a lot of weight. However, I wonder if they are aware of the damage they are doing to their bodies.

The over stimulation to the adrenal glands is short lived and with constant stimulation can wear the adrenal glands out, better known as adrenal exhaustion. When the adrenal glands quit, they put you on a slab and take you to the morgue. Fatigue is another result of this constant over-stimulation.

So why do we want to drink such high powered drinks that could possibly cause you to have a heart attack? I tested one of the most popular drinks used for restoring electrolytes that is often given away at ball games only to find that it is a heart attack in a can. When testing the microsiemen (MS) level of this drink it was 2,125,00. Anything above 1,200 MS can cause clots to form in your body according to Dr. T. C. McDaniels, who is still living a very healthy life at 97.

Colloidal chemistry is not commonly understood in todays food chemistry field. It is a way of measuring the electro-potential of fluids in our body and other fluids as well.

Even Dayton’s city water has a measurement microsiemen level of 465,000.

But many of the power drinks and even the more common colas are very high in microsiemen levels anywhere from 493,000- 2,500,000 MS. All could be very devastating to the organ function in your body. This may be one of the reasons our life span is so short.

Stress alone is hard on the adrenal glands without using some of the sport drink to get a buzz, or to hype them up. They can get exhausted very easily without any extra help.

There are fortunes being made by selling these power drinks, but at the expense of exhausted adrenal glands of the general public. The addition

Fininding Balance a Stressful Time

I watched the faces around me as we progressed through the wettest April in my lifetime. In them I saw the signs of deepening sadness. Was it just the rainy weather that caused this or was it something deeper and more pervasive? And yet there are a few who are unaffected, balanced, and even happy in the same environment. Why is there such a wide divide between the few enlightened ones, the light workers, and the rest of us, those everyday people who are affected? How can the rest of us find that balance to glide through the gloom with grace and ease?

As I reflected on the sadness, I first thought that the continuous cloudy skies and wet weather have somehow upset our natural circadian rhythms. Perhaps we were suffering from a double dose of cabin fever. I also thought about other causes of sadness and depression, ones we don’t normally think about. What are they?

There are toxins, both energetic and physical. Energetic toxins are ones that affect the mind directly, causing stress. The sources can be the News, personal and business relationships, and the conversations and attitudes we are surrounded with daily.

We all know a bit about physically Toxic stuff. In can be the food we eat daily. Even when we shop “organic” there are still indications of cross contamination from crops with genetically

modified crops and from pesticides used on neighboring properties.

When you read the labels on commercially produced foods you find chemicals and additives that aren’t natural to consume. Add designer prescription drugs, air pollution, fluoridated water, and more to the mix and we have a mixture for physical stress. We are a nation that is slowly poisoning itself in body mind and spirit. It’s no wonder there is so much sadness and depression.

How can we attain and maintain balance and harmony? I believe in nurturing body, mind, and spirit in equal measure. That way, I am not trying to overcome a lack in one area by overdoing another. Here are some steps you might try.

Begin each day connecting with Love to share with all in your experience.

Attitude of Gratitude - You are part of creation, and part of creator, be grateful for all that is and your spirit will rise.

Meditate, just a little every day. In that still place you can find all you need.

Stay in the Now moment, every moment you can. Let go of the future, let go of the past, and just be here in the now.

August begins with a lovely period best described as “let the good times roll”! Venus, planet of love and happiness, is at your elbow, along with Mercury, so the outlook is expansive, but just be aware that the tendency to “over-kill” is also there, so be sure to save a few bucks to pay the rent when the party is over. For early Leos, there is potential for new learning and/or travel – possibly together. This may be related to the job situation, and whatever mental gymnastics are required will be very beneficial in the long run. For all Leo’s, the possibility of concern over family members is there, and also employment matters which require some overhaul, but the end results looks favorable. Leo has the tremendous quality of looking upward and onward to ever greater pastures, and as a result, everyone benefits.

Virgo August 22 – September 22

This period has you priming yourself for bigger and better positions and/or some concerns about loved ones. Mercury, your ruling planet, is going retrograde early August and for basically the whole month will have you going back to review and reconsider many situations.

An interesting pattern going on here is the potential for connecting with partners or co-workers who, like you, are interested in improving the financial picture. But that will require that you come out of hiding and put your cards on the table, if everyone is to succeed. Your mind is working overtime on some major plans. So, if there is an opportunity to take a wee vacation to be with family members, then do indulge!

It looks as though you have some big plans in the offing, to explore new territory. Some may be for recreation, but quite a bit is in respect to your career, New information, new contacts are coming in and the excitement is swelling. BUT, it all means more detail work to get this show off the ground. August 13 the full moon brings this concept into full focus, and you will spend much of September doing the leg work required. Your ruling planet, Jupiter, is in the solar house of labor and employment, and does promise more financial rewards if you pay the due diligence of detail work that must be done. Jupiter will go retrograde the last of August, and can mean you are spending the rest of the year planning how to “go for the gold”. You are getting more serious about what you want out of life and who you want to be with, and this effort to become a bit more grounded will pay off big time.

Early Capricorns are dealing with some serious issues on all fronts, which include career activities, family matters, and relationship issues. Some will be wondering about the durability of the marriage scene, and since everything is changing, there will be new home bases, and an ever-growing sense of personal renovation. The full moon mid August will show up in the pocket book, and there may

be some big money changing hands. Some of you may decide to get some extra learning under your belt, which shows promise of bringing increased benefits to your labors, so don’t hesitate. You usually like to have all your bases covered, but there is a growing sense of needing change, and new ways of proving yourself are showing up. Just know that you are being pulled in many directions right now, but when the smoke clears, you will have weathered the storm with considerable skill, and will know that the change augers well for you from now on.

Aquarius January 19 – February 18

A major piece of your plan is to expand your horizons and take on some new responsibilities. You might be interested in learning some new subjects, and an old friend may be very helpful here.

There is definitely a sense of needing and wanting change (which for you is normal), but the connections you will be making with partners and new associations will add zest to your efforts. Home base may need some fix up processes, and painting or landscaping are very common here. You could be spending larger amounts of money on the home base, and this will be accompanied by a hard core look at the financial area. Keep lists, make records, and bow to the system which requires you to have a paper trail: not exactly your forte! You are moving surely into the Aquarian Age, and you know you must take a hands-on approach to business, in order to be prepared.

Pisces February 18 – March 20

Your ruling planet, Neptune , is just months away from being in your sign, but right now you are aware of changes, but still nervous about them. You are beginning to accept the fact that you need to put aside your reluctance to be “out there”, and you will slowly but surely adapt to the process of being more self assured. A good friend and/or partner may be encouraging you to step up to the plate, and the full moon in mid September will highlight this. The transiting Pluto is making you more aware of the need to become more responsible and self reliant, and in turn, you just may be taking on a learning experience which will take some time, but will be very rewarding in time. Saturn is demanding that you spend more quality time with financial planning, and you already feel the growing sense of accomplishment in that department. Enjoy your children.

Early Aries, like the other cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, are in the midst of a whirlwind of change. Of the 4 signs, you are most likely to welcome this with an added sense of excitement, as you dislike monotony. However, the rebellion of sorts is affecting matters at home, with family, and also in connection with partners. Either you or loved ones may be enduring health crises, and there is an added incentive to check up on your health.

Also, the need to be more careful at work is there, so take the time to get the facts straight. There is definitely some fun on the horizon, and it just might be that last fling before school sets in. So enjoy the time spent with family and friends, before you need to seriously

deal with upheaval in the career or home area. A happy note is that there is the chance for more dollars in the pocket book. Have a good time, but don’t go overboard.

Lucky Taurus! Jupiter is in your sign, and that means that lady luck will be in your corner. Well, it may not be totally fantastic, but Jupiter will always present you with opportunities that you don’t want to ignore. Your ruling planet, Venus, rules love and money, so don’t overlook either of these areas. One little caution is that it could mean packing on a few pounds, and/or the desire to decorate your home could dominate the scene, especially in August. You could be entertaining and your home is your castle! You are aware that you need to expand your horizons, either in learning or actual travel. You need to get out of your rut, and the “little voice in your head” is urging some much needed change. Saturn in the health area is asking you to take stock, and do what is needed to improve your health situation. Your ruling planet, Mercury, will be retrograde most of August, so remember not to be hasty in decision making. You might be making some short trips, or spending time with relatives.
