Painting for Dwelling or Selling hen deciding to paint your home the first thing to consider is what is your goal for painting. Color choice for your dwelling can be personal and reflect the lifestyle and atmosphere you want in your home. When your goal is to sell your home now or in a few years professionals highly recommend neutralizing the colors and adding hints of accent colors. Whether your painting to refresh your own space or to enhance marketability keep in mind open spaces should be in the same color palette. Color influences both the mood of a person and space, use it wisely. The goal is for the home owner to enjoy their space or buyer to make an emotion connection to the space. I've listed some key points that will help to guide you in selecting paint colors.

1. Identify fixed elements in the room (fireplace, flooring, cabinets) 2. Are the elements from a warm or cold color palette? 3. Lighting (natural and artificial) 4. House orientation (sun exposure) 5.Use color wheel (color scheme, value) 6. Purpose of room 7. Enviromentally friendly 8. Desired atmosphere (cozy, energizing, spa, etc.) 9. Use shades or tints of the same color 10. Do not mix cold and warm color pallets.

Add complimenting accent colors to draw buyers through and create interest. There are four basic color pallets used for staging; monochromatic, analogous, complimentary and neutrals.
