Frameless clear glass showers are favoured in bathrooms today. The younger generation enjoy multiple shower heads and favour rain shower heads, and tiled shelving. The older generation prefer detachable hand held shower heads. LED lighting is what people a choosing for the shower lighting . More showers are being designed with and easy walk in accessibility feature, this feature is very sought after by people with disabilities. 43% of bathroom remodels are not installing a bathtub, the other 57% are installing drop-in tubs, freestanding or tub with jets for spa inspired atmosphere.

Family bathrooms are featuring double sinks, modern faucets, tub, separate frameless glass shower preferable , storage, ceiling fan,

good lighting. Shower curtains are being used in 1/3 of family bathrooms. High efficiency toilets are being installed in 91% of bathrooms most of these are the traditional two piece units. Tankless and wall mounted are liked by the younger generation. Functionality, surfaces that are easily cleaned, storage and double sinks are on the top of buyers list for family bathrooms. The top color of choice is white, which is reflected in tiles, fixtures, décor and cabinetry, dark wood and then medium wood where the next consumer choice. The types of wood chosen were cherry 31% ,maple 24%, oak 20%, walnut 16%, birch 6% by consumers. Take care to co-ordinate finishes on all faucets, hardware, light fixtures, towel bars. Brushed nickel is the top finish choice at 26% popularity, polished chrome 24%, brushed stainless 15%, polished stainless 12% and oil rubbed bronze at 7%.

More home owners are dressing up their powder rooms . Usually a smaller room they are being equipped with pedestal sinks or furniture inspired cabinets, stylish wallpaper and hard wood floors.

When designing a bathroom layout its beneficial to add as many features that appeal to home buyers as possible without over crowding the space or blowing the budget. These choices will stimulate more buyer interest in your home.
