Blooming Good Times! As this publication is a “Shopper's Guide” I feel the need to write about what we can purchase, sell and also visit in our beautiful region of the Seaway... For the whole family! Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off July 11-14, 2013. This annual hot air balloon festival will take place in Cornwall's Lamoureux Park located on the St. Lawrence River! The festival features 25 majestic hot air balloons, flying each morning and evening at approximately 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (depending on weather and winds). Festival attendees are able to purchase balloon rides which can last anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes, depending on direction and speed of prevailing winds, and optimum landing opportunities. All attendees and residents of the region are treated to the beautiful sight of these colourful balloons floating over the city and region. This year’s festival will host many musical acts. Fear of Thunderstorms Is There Hope? (part 1) It's that time of year again when fear of the big booms of thunderstorms and fireworks can reduce a fearless German Shepherd and a daredevil Doberman, into a trembling mass of over-sized lap dog. For those who have pets who suffer from this phobia, it's no joking matter. It can cause a well-behaved, beloved pet to suddenly act in strange ways sometimes seen as erratic, all the way to extreme. Sadly, when developed into a full-blown phobia, some have demolished furniture, chewed through doors, crashed through windows, gotten lost, and seriously harmed themselves in the process. Some clearly indicate distress with eyes wide, pupils dilated, some pant heavily, even drooling. With non-stop pacing, they search for ways to escape to a safe place, to hide and at times try and fit where 'no pet has gone before'. Your pet feels trapped! Some may involuntarily urinate or poop on the spot. Never, ever punish a pet for doing this. When frightened to the same level, even humans have done the same. Never leave a pet outside during an electrical storm, especially when chained up. Most especially, next to a tree. They can be electrocuted. Some have inadvertently hanged themselves trying to escape. Some have tried to chew through their chains and destroyed their teeth and mouths in the process. Some do escape and are lost forever.

A species-appropriate diet is always best for any creature, and good nutrition is the baseline starter for good physical as well as mental health in our pets. If the weather man has predicted storms in your area, ensure your pet has been fed, is well exercised and able to have relieved himself before the storm arrives. 'Ignore' or 'don't baby him' is bad advice. As is punishing them. Be supportive! They aren't throwing tantrums, they are reacting instinctually to what is to them a real threat.
They need their human to champion and reassure in a rational and calm voice, just as you would do for any member of your family suffering distress. Adding massage, Tellington Touch, Reiki or just using this time to brush your dog with long, methodical strokes will benefit you both in the short term, and create a deeper, more rewarding relationship in the long term. Animals know long before the first crack of thunder that a storm is on the way. Some experts say not only can they hear the storm in advance of their human counterparts, they can feel the electromagnetic change in the air with plummeting barometric pressures. This causes an uncomfortable buildup of static charge which your pet may then try to release by instinctually grounding themselves. They may try to hide in bathtubs, sinks, around toilets or metal radiators, anywhere they find and can press up against conductive metal pipes. (Do not let your pet do this unless you are certain your house is well-grounded.) To help, you can cover the outside of his crate in heavy duty aluminum foil, or if he hides under a bed, place a layer between the mattress and box spring. However, don't expect him to lie ON aluminum foil. There are many ways you as a wise custodian can step up and help. Keep trying these solutions until you find the one or the combination that works best for your beloved pet. Most importantly, supply them with that safe place they need. Preferably, create and introduce it to him long before the 'BoomBoom Season' begins. Teach him with treats, play-time and loving attention that this is his happy, safe, 'go to place'. He will learn to automatically go there when needed to feel safe and secure. This location is special and not necessarily his regular, every day sleeping spot but rather a safe place from his perspective. (To be continued...)

Your Angel Message Dream-Time Your Soul's Night School The Angels tell us, when your physical body takes its rest and sleeps, your Spirit body is able to travel back to the Spirit world. There, you are able to meet up with ancestors, go to the Temple of Learning and commune with Elders. You will receive messages, solutions and ideas to bring back that will better help you on your life's journey here on Earth. Sometimes, the messages are straightforward. Sometimes they come as symbols or riddles for you to figure out. As long as you have a physical body, your Spirit and body are connected by an etheric, Silver Cord. This cord can not be severed 'accidentally' by your nightly sojourns. This cord cannot be cut until the moment of your earthly passing. That time has previously been agreed upon between God and your Soul and is designated in your Soul's Chart. Many times upon arising, you don't remember your nightly travels or dreams but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Indeed, all Souls have and enjoy this wonderful opportunity. Your new found knowledge is absorbed into your subconscious. There, it is stored until it is brought forward into your waking consciousness. You can help bring
these messages forward by being prepared with a paper and pen by your nightstand when you go to sleep. Immediately upon arising, before you are fully awake, write down whatever snippet you can remember. Ask your Spirit Guide to help you. Many times, this gesture alone, can help unravel the message and experience. Remembering to do this every day, will help you create a clearer line of communication with your Higher Self and Soul plan, which can only benefit your journey here through life. Keeping a dream journal and going over it weekly will help you to unravel many mysteries currently going on in your life. The Spirit world is always available to you. Dream-time, is when your conscious mind sleeps and your critical factor is out of the way. This enables your subconscious mind to come forward and receive their messages easily and effortlessly.
