Why Shop Locally While researching the benefits and consequences of shopping locally, I was astonished to find out how much of an impact shopping locally can have on our local economy. Local First. Sounds simple enough. Should be easy. I can do that. However, when I go to the doctor in Ottawa, while I'm there I'll just stop by the shopping centre and pick up a few things so I don't have to stop when I get back. Oh, and I should stop at the Hardware store and see what they have for flooring so I can get started on the renovations in the basement. And maybe I should stop at the pharmacy for that prescription in my wallet, by then I'll need lunch. And so it spirals ... Why not wait till I get back home, and spend my money where it will benefit my community? Are we saying don't ever shop out of town? No, but we are saying look at local businesses first. If the quality of the product and the quality of service is what you want, it only makes sense to shop at home. Every dollar spent in town will be re-spent seven times before it leaves your community. If we all shop local first, the spiral will be upward not downward, and we will all benefit. We want and need our neighbouring business to succeed; if they succeed, we succeed. Any and all new businesses should be welcomed with open arms. They will bring employees and customers to shop at your business. E-testing… Is it really that bad?
The new e-testing has everyone’s tension running high, but is it really that bad? Let's take a look at the logistics of how the new system operates. The biggest difference between the old and new testing is the fact that vehicles 1998 and newer are not tail pipe tested anymore. Meaning, we do not place a sample probe in the tail pipe to read how much the exhaust gases will have an affect on the environment. The new system relies heavily on your vehicle's computer. Your vehicle can have one or more computers, and each computer is in charge of monitoring and adjusting certain components to operate the vehicle efficiently. When the new etest machine is hooked up it is directly connected to your vehicle's computer. Once connected, it looks into the computer's memory to see if there have been any emission related “codes” recorded and if it does your check engine light would be on. It is very common for a check engine light to be on for an emission related code. However, it is rare that the check engine light would be on for something that is NOT emission related. The new e-test machine also wants to see if the vehicle's computer has run self tests on each component to make sure they are running properly. This is why we cannot just clear the check engine light and bring it in for an e-test, because the machine will see that the vehicle's computer hasn’t had time to do its self checks. Some of these self checks include: 1.Misfire 2.Fuel System 3.Comprehensive 4.Catalyst 5.Heated Catalyst 6.Evaporative System 7.Secondary Air 8.Oxygen Sensor 9.Oxygen Sensor Heated 10.EGR System 11.Air Conditioning System. If you know a little about cars you will notice that not every car has all of these components. For example, unfor-
tunately not all cars were manufactured with A/C. When this is the case the e-testing machine knows this information by communicating with the vehicle's computer. Some other precautionary measures have been taken as well. Vehicles 19982000 allow two of these self tests to not be performed or “NOT RUN”. From 2001-up only one is not allowed to be performed or “NOT RUN”. These precautions are helpful for people who may have had trouble starting their vehicle in the winter due to the battery dying. When your battery dies it can reset these “tests” and your vehicle has to be driven in different circumstances for these self tests to be performed again. This can lead to one or two self tests showing a “NOT RUN” when e-testing time comes. Thankfully, these precautions are in place for circumstances like these. Now let's take a look at how the etest machine runs for vehicles 1997 and older. When it's time to tests these vehicles the probe is brought back, and tail pipe emissions is measured. It is very similar to how the test was preformed with the old system. The difference is that there is no DYNO machine to upon which you actually drive the vehicle. There is only the probe to measure the exhaust gases. It's called a Two Speed Idle test (TSI). The machine will sample the exhaust gases at an idle, and at a higher RPM. So in these cases, the check engine light is not the deciding factor for a pass or fail. I hope this has calmed some nerves and shed some light on the new e-testing method. Your Angel Message Divine Timing If you feel like your life is a constant uphill battle, stop what you are doing. This card is telling you it's time to stop busting a gut trying to traverse the mountain when you can easily get over the molehill! If you keep coming up against blockage after blockage step back and STOP struggling. The Universe is clearly telling you, NO...not this way...or not at this time... Try another way. Try something else. See which way will flow! Stop struggling. Time to assess the situation. Ask for guidance. Ask a trusted friend, perhaps even a professional. Ask your Angels and Spirit Guides. Sometimes, someone a little more detached from the 'troubling' situation can give you a fresh perspective.
the 'Universal ducks' have lined up. It could simply be that some other faction of your plan, outside of your control, isn't ready. Do not try to force something to happen, do only what you can. Don't fret about the rest. Divine Timing simply won't allow it, until it is ready anyway! Life is not meant to be a constant battle. It's meant to flow in a stream of Divine Timing. When you find yourself constantly up against a wall, then that's not the way to go. If no matter how hard you try, something still isn't working, then change direction, try a different plan. You can always check back from time to time. For now, Stop. Assess. Ask for help. Try something different. When there's movement, there's improvement.

ent...What makes a good pet-parent is the same thing that makes a good parent or just a good human being. There are two 'musts' in a healthy, happy pet-parent relationship. They are common sense, but sometimes in our busy lives, it's the simple things that may be forgotten. 1) Basic physical needs must be covered each and every day. Just like a human, your pet needs to be fed nutritious, healthy foods, have access to clean water, enjoy a warm, safe home (that supplies some privacy at times) and your pet needs to be exercised to his species and size requirements. 2) Your pet needs a 'job' or mental challenge to keep him healthy. If he's not out herding cows or tracking criminals, find out to what purpose his species or breed was originated and see if you can build on that. All pets can be given some sort of a task to help stimulate their minds. Even if that task is simply to provide us with their undying love and companionship. Keeping in mind these two basic needs and your ability to provide them before acquiring a pet, will ensure a long and happy relationship for you both! Still, I'd really think twice before bringing home that Furry FanTailed Exotic Humping Monkey!
