IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF EDVARD MUNCH IN OSLO FRIDAY 19. APRIL AND SATURDAY 20. APRIL 2019 slo is the city where Edvard Munch grew up and started out as an artist. This is also the place where he spent the last decades of his life. Today, Oslo houses the largest part of Munch’s artistic production, including his best known masterpieces. Join our three hour Munch-tour and get to know one of the greatest artists of modern times!

O

he tour starts at The Hub at 11.00, with a short introduction to Edvard Munch’s life and art. We’ll take the tramway to Munch's Grünerløkka and visit the area where Edvard Munch spent most of his childhood. All the buildings where he and his family lived are still intact, in what is one of Oslo’s best kept areas with architecture from the latter part of the 19th century. After visiting Munch’s five different childhood addresses at Grünerløkka, we will have a tasty

T

lunch at Mathallen Oslo. Mathallen was among top 3 when Europe’s best food halls was awarded last year. After lunch we will stroll through Damstredet, the charming and picturesque part of central Oslo with well-preserved and inhabited wooden houses from the late 1700s and the 1800s, and reach Edvard Munch’s burial site at the cemetery Vår Frelsers Gravlund/Æreslunden, Norway's main honorary burial ground. We end this tour by returning to the Hub with a short bus ride.

The tour takes place from 11:00 to 14:00. Price: NOK 250,- + ticket fee per person (refreshment not included). Pre-booking via ticketmaster, for maximum 30 people. SALT ALT is a nomadic art project with pyramidal constructions called “hesjer”, which are based on traditional coastal construction methods. Norway has one of the world’s longest coastlines and an ancient coastal culture where the people have fished in agreement with nature. The fishermen set up fishracks to dry the fish in the wind. Dried fish did not only give people nourishment, but also became an export article that has been significant in regards to the construction of Norway. The pyramidal structures have been developed in collaboration with architect Sami Rintala. Árdna, The Arctic Pyramid, Langhuset and Naustet all make SALT an unique place for experiences and reflection

S

where a diversity of people can be gathered to experience art and discuss today’s major challenges. The sea is crucial for the future of the planet. How can we ensure a sustainable sea for future generations? What can we learn from the coastal people’s ability to live with and out of nature? SALT was first erected on Sandhornøya in Nordland in 2014. The project has since visited Bergen and is now in Oslo until 2020 when the journey continues to the north. Thus, SALT Oslo becomes a two-year festival. The program includes concerts, lectures, exhibitions, debates and family events. Throughout all seasons visitors can relax in the sauna, quench their thirst and eat tasty food from the sea.

INDIE LABEL NIGHT T

he evening before Inferno Metal Festival, on Wednesday 17. April, we are inviting you all to a blast together with Indie Recordings at Vaterland. Three bands will make this evening special: Diabolical, The New Death Cult and Posthum! “We at Indie Recordings look forward to present some good metal from three of our bands at our label night during Inferno Metal Festival 2019! Join us as we start off the festival with these great bands at Vaterland! See you there!”

DIABOLICAL The blackened death metal band Diabolical released their sixth studio album “Eclipse” earlier this year on Indie Recordings. More than twenty years after their formation in northern Sweden, innovative death/black metal hybrid Diabolical proves to be more vital than ever and puts forth “Eclipse”, a concept album reflecting on the dark side of humanity that forces the listener to explore his own diabolical side. The album is a tour de force with spitting musical and aesthetic complexity swirling around a dense soundscape of excellently distilled and refined ideas, altogether forming a rare display of musical craftsmanship equaled by very few contemporary metal bands.

music. The band has traveled from across the stars to spread their words and music, and have brought the very best songs from their home planet Netuluna in the Andromeda Galaxy.

POSTHUM Posthum are currently working on their next album – at last! New tunes will be out in 2019 and with this they are again ready to play live. This is a band that have carefully created their own unique sound and way of thinking as an isolated band, located in the forests north of Oslo. Their debut record from 2009 was highly acclaimed as a hard, but yet atmospheric and beautiful album, with a cold sound and strong arrangements constantly growing on the listener.

THE NEW DEATH CULT The New Death Cult is here to crush hate, injustice, environmental destruction and greed with universal peace & love, through the superior medium of rock

INFERNO ART EXHIBITIONS Christophe Szpajdel Christophe Szpajdel is a graphic designer from Belgium who currently resides in England. After designing his first logo for the Finnish band Disgrace in 1990, he has drawn over 10,000 logos, mainly within the black and death metal and ambient music scenes. The amount of work he has done in the industry has lead him to be nicknamed the "Lord of the Logos", which was reinforced when he authored a book of the same name showcasing his design over the years. His most prolific logo design was for Emperor in early 1993.

Christopher Rådlund Rådlund lives and works since 1991 in Oslo. Rådlund moved from Sweden because of Norway's strong tradition of figurative painting, with Odd Nerdrum and several other exponents. During the 1990s, Rådlund strongly related to traditional Norwegian landscape painting, with examples such as Johan Christian Dahl and Peder Balke, and is therefore preferably regarded as "new romance", an epitome he, according to his own statement, has no problem with. It also follows that he has renounced modernism as a theory complex and has instead attempted to develop an artistry from tradition-related parameters.
