INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2026!

IMETAL FESTIVAL 2026!

t has now been twenty-five years since Inferno held its first festival edition. Back then, it was a two-day festival made up mainly of Norwegian bands. The format was new in Norway, and still fairly new around the world. Not the idea of an indoor festival itself, but what made it unique was its focus on extreme metal and the way we made full use of Rockefeller’s facilities, with two stages across two floors.

Over the years, the festival has grown and now spans four days, in addition to a conference that began in 2006. But despite everything that has happened over the years, we have always felt that we have stayed true to our roots. A great deal has happened during the twenty-five years we have existed – not least that we lost our festival founder, Jan-Martin Jensen, last year (we miss you, Jan-Martin) – but we have stayed true to ourselves. Inferno is the festival we want to create, and it is our unique atmosphere that we want to preserve. It is a festival where you see the same people year after year. Our audience means everything to us, and we truly value your support. We look forward to seeing all of you again. Once again, we promise to create the world’s best extreme metal festival, right in the heart of Norwegian black metal. See you at Inferno!

Cheers, Runar Pettersen

A Tribute to Darkthrone: A Night of Unholy Black Metal – The Second Coming

On Easter Eve 1996, history was made in Oslo. Under the heading "A Night of Unholy Black Metal", the originators of the genre – Darkthrone – played their last concert ever. Although they only performed four songs that night, the performance has become the stuff of legends, not least because the band has since stayed away from the stage. Now, 30 years later, almost to the date, it's time to relive that experience. The four songs from the original concert will make up the backbone of an evening where some of Norway's finest black metal musicians pay tribute to the masters themselves. Wednesday 1. April at Parkteatret. Doors opens at 19.00. SOLD OUT!

IMC PARTY AT SALT

DRUM CLINIC WITH CHARLIE KORYN DRUM CLINIC WITH CHARLIE KORYN

Charlie Koryn is a drummer and producer from the United States, known for his expressive and highly dynamic approach to extreme music. His playing blends raw intensity with musicality and feel, drawing on the early traditions and evolving language of the drum kit, where dynamics, phrasing, and musical interaction were central.

As a touring session drummer and recording engineer, Charlie has performed with legendary bands such as Morbid Angel and Incantation, and has contributed to recordings and live performances with contemporary acts including Ascended Dead, Hulder, Worm, and Funebrarum. His recent work includes performances on new releases such as the latest Worm material featuring Marty Friedman, reflecting the continued evolution of extreme music across generations.

Rather than a traditional drum clinic, this session is intended as a broader musical experience, relevant to musicians of any instrument as well as listeners interested in the creative journey. The clinic explores dimensional playing in extreme music, with a focus on feel, dynamics, and the human element of performance and recording. Charlie will share perspectives from life on the road and in the studio, along with live drum performances drawn from his recordings and personal discography, including material rarely performed live. This will be an interactive clinic with an open Q&A.

Join us on a tour of the places that marked the beginning of the legend of Norwegian black metal with Anders Odden as your guide. The myths surrounding the early history of Norwegian black metal are numerous. Countless documentaries, films, and books have tried to uncover what happened in Norway in the early ‘90s. Visiting the locations where these events took place, guided by someone who was there, makes this a truly personal journey.

Through his record store, Helvete, and his band, Mayhem, Øystein Aarseth – better known as Euronymous – became a central figure in the scene. He inspired and promoted early Norwegian metal bands such as Emperor, Darkthrone, Immortal, Burzum, and others. On August 10, 1993, after a year of turmoil in the underground scene of Oslo and Bergen, Euronymous was killed in his apartment by Varg Vikernes, also known as “Greven”, the notorious leader of Burzum.

This event marked both the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. The once so obscure black metal scene quickly became infamous, grabbing tabloid headlines in Norway and the rest of the world.

This excursion will feature exclusive anecdotes and personal memories from someone who experienced those formative years firsthand, Anders Odden (Cadaver, Order etc.).

Anders Odden formed his first black metal band, Slaught, in 1986 after attending a Mayhem rehearsal at the age of 14. A pioneer in the underground scene, he was involved in tape trading, organizing concerts, and crafting his own brand of extreme metal. In 1988, he formed Cadaver, releasing the first Norwegian death metal album on Necrosis Records in 1990. Cadaver shared the stage with bands like Darkthrone, Mayhem, and Old Funeral – groups that would later shape the early Norwegian black metal scene. He later toured the world as a black metal musician with bands like Celtic Frost and others.

Join him for a oneon-one conversation with his Brujeria bandmate and Orange Is the New Black star Jessica Pimentel as they dig into his remarkable career.

Driven by a relentless urge to create new and mind-blowing sounds, Shane Embury is one of the metal underground’s most prolific and versatile figures. Best known as the bassist of Napalm Death since 1987, he has also spent decades exploring countless musical paths beyond the band. As Napalm Death’s longest-serving member and most

Beyond Napalm Death, Shane has built an extraordinary body of work through projects such as Blood From The Soul, Lock Up, Venomous Concept, Absolute Power, Tronos, Born To Murder The World, and Dark Sky Burial. Along the way, he has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed musicians across metal and beyond, always driven by curiosity, creativity, and a passion for pushing music into new territory.

MUNNVOLD INFERNO 2026 MUNNVOLD INFERNO 2026

Munnvold Inferno is the bastard who never stops growling. He is now three years old, and the age of defiance is upon us. He has always smoked, in the form of grilled peppers. For the occasion, this year’s celebratory edition features three different chillies: Guajillo, Habanero, and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. An unholy triangle of fermented flames, one might say.

Munnvold Inferno delivers a solid kick, has a hint of smokiness, and goes well with just about anything. Try it on your kebab or burger on the way home, or on your eggs the next day. And if you cannot find the festival spirit, make yourself a Bloody Mary with Munnvold Inferno and thrash your hotel room. Down at Rockefeller, we have chips and more sauces – read all about them at Munnvold.no.

Marine biologist Johanne is sent to Norway’s deepest fjord to investigate unusual behaviour in wild salmon and the possible effects of sonic lice treatment at a local fish farm. Johanne gradually discovers that the sonic technology has awakened the mythical Kraken, an ancient multi-armed creature from the depths, ready to crush and devour anything that moves or dares to make a sound.

Kraken is a Norwegian monster action film directed by Pål Øie, one of the country’s leading genre filmmakers. Shot on location in Sognefjorden, Aurland, Matre, Oslo, Helsinki and Turku, the film combines Nordic mythology, dramatic fjord landscapes and contemporary environmental themes. With music by Sognametal band Vreid on

the soundtrack – this is a real treat for all monster-loving black metal fans.

Hex (2026)

In the heart of Norway’s macabre, maledominated black metal scene, a new star begins to rise in the dark sky. Nikoline, Victoria, and Johanna make a three-year pact, promising one another that they will awaken the world, each other, and themselves as witches. And the way they plan to do that is through their feminist black metal band, Witch Club Satan. They start the band even though none of them really knows how to play music. But that does not matter, because they intend to seek the help of witches. The three young women scream and howl to reveal the raw and often hidden power of women, while challenging the norms of a male-dominated music culture that seems rooted in the Middle Ages. They quickly find themselves on the biggest stages, but the road to the stars is far from easy.
