INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2025!

FESTIVAL 2025!

This year’s festival is dedicated entirely to our former festival director, Jan-Martin Jensen, who passed away on February 10th due to cancer. Jan-Martin organised thousands of concerts throughout his long career in the music industry. Inferno Metal Festival 2025 will mark the final concerts he was involved in organising.

It has, of course, been a difficult year for all of us in the Inferno organisation, and as we now hold the last festival that Jan-Martin helped bring to life, many tears will be shed. But we should be thankful for everything Jan-Martin helped create – for all the events he gave us, for all the concerts, and most of all, for Inferno Metal Festival.

We thank you for all the support and condolences. Let’s all make sure that Inferno Metal Festival 2025 becomes a festival that will never be forgotten.

Cheers, Runar Pettersen

DRUM CLINIC WITH KRIMH (SEPTICFLESH) DRUM CLINIC WITH KRIMH (SEPTICFLESH)

Born in Austria in 1989, Kerim "Krimh" Lechner developed a profound passion for rock drumming from a young age. At 13, he began pursuing his dream of playing drums, igniting a journey that would soon capture the attention of the international drumming community.

In 2007, Krimh gained recognition through his drum covers on YouTube, attracting a growing fan base and invitations from bands worldwide. Joining Poland’s DECAPITATED marked his debut as a professional drummer, followed by ventures into solo projects, including four albums and an acoustic EP.

His YouTube channel, Krimh Drummer, soared in popularity – particularly with two SLIPKNOT audition videos, which sparked rumours of him being a potential successor to Joey Jordison. He later filled in for BEHEMOTH's drummer, Inferno, and eventually became SEPTICFLESH’s full-time drummer.

Following the success of their album

Codex Omega, SEPTICFLESH fulfilled a long-held aspiration by performing with a full orchestra, choir, and children’s choir in Mexico City on February 2, 2019, captivating an audience of 3,200 people. The band is currently promoting their latest album, Modern Primitive.

With the evolution of modern music production towards home recording and MIDI programming, Kerim collaborated with renowned Swedish metal producer Jens Bogren to develop the highly acclaimed digital drum software Krimh Drums.

In 2022, Krimh teamed up with the American progressive death metal band DÅÅTH to resume music writing after a 13-year hiatus.

Throughout his career, Krimh has collaborated with numerous bands, including Harakiri for the Sky, Vesania, and Keith Merrow, among others.

BLACK METAL BUS SIGHTSEEING

BLACK METAL BUS SIGHTSEEING

Join us for a unique tour of the places where Norwegian black metal was born, guided by Anders Odden (Cadaver, Celtic Frost, Order).

Explore the early ’90s scene through the eyes of someone who lived it. From the legendary Helvete record store run by Euronymous (Mayhem), to the rise of bands like Emperor, Darkthrone, and Burzum, this tour dives into the roots of a musical and cultural movement.

The story culminates with the 1993 murder of Euronymous by Varg Vikernes, an event that thrust the scene into global headlines.

Anders Odden, who formed his first band in 1986 after seeing Mayhem rehearse, was deeply involved in the underground scene – organising shows, tape trading, and founding Cadaver, one of Norway’s earliest extreme metal bands.

Expect rare stories, insider insight, and a powerful glimpse into black metal’s dark beginnings.

The tour will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday during Inferno Metal Festival. Tickets on Ticketmaster.

A Tribute to Jan-Martin

On February 10th, we lost our mentor and fearless leader, JanMartin Jensen, after his brave battle with cancer. His energy, kindness, and passion left a lasting mark on all of us – and Inferno won’t be the same without him.

Join us in celebrating his life on Wednesday, April 16th at Salt from 18:30 during our delegate mingle. Artist Kim Diaz Holm has created a special tribute painting, and you’re

welcome to take a photo in front of it. Anders Odden, who co-founded IMC with Jan-Martin, will give a keynote speech, followed by a tribute program featuring a special performance by Sylvaine at 20:30.

A guest book will be present for messages to his children, who will be attending. Limitededition tribute t-shirts will be sold, with proceeds going to a cancer research fund of his family’s choice.

There’s no time limit. Stay as long as you need. We’ll end the night with Jan-Martin’s favourite music and honour the legend he will always be. Gone, but never forgotten.

Let’s Get Physical

With touring and screen-heavy jobs, staying healthy can be tough. This panel explores how to maintain physical and mental wellness through nutrition, yoga, meditation, and quick, on-the-go workouts – whether you're on the road or at the office.

Women In Live Music Presentation

Who are the women backstage – and why are there still so few? Interestingly, the metal scene is leading in diversity behind the scenes. Sound engineer and Women In Live Music founder Malle Kaas shares insights on why that is, and why diversity backstage matters.

Festival Presentations

Explore five emerging festivals from around the world as they share how they've built strong identities and grown through bold artistic choices. What sets them apart, and how do they create meaningful connections with their audiences?

The Back Lounge

Created by tour manager and psychotherapist Suzi Green during the pandemic, The Back Lounge is a peer support group for live music and touring professionals. What began as a weekly Zoom call has grown into a vital space for connection, support, and open conversations within the industry.

In Defence of Valhalla

Former Icelandic President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson joins Amon Amarth’s Johan Hegg and archaeologist Ben Raffield to discuss the misuse of Norse symbols by hate groups, the impact of pop culture, and the importance of protecting cultural heritage. Moderated by Gunnar Sauermann.

Career Talk: Kim Diaz

Holm and Ravn of 1349 Artist Kim Diaz Holm and 1349’s Ravn discuss their creative collaboration, the intersection of dark art and black metal, and their personal artistic journeys – while Kim live-sketches Ravn during the talk.

Smashing Through Walls: Metal in the Middle East

Explore the rise of heavy metal across the Middle East and North Africa. This panel highlights the region’s talent, growing global connections, and how the scene is breaking cultural barriers – loud, raw, and unstoppable.

Metalheads Against Bullying

Leif Munkelien presents Metalheads Against Bullying, a Norwegian-based global organisation working to raise awareness, empower individuals, and provide tools to prevent and address bullying across all ages and communities. Friday 18 April 13.00 at The Hub Bar.

The OGs

Industry veterans from Roadrunner, Metal Blade, Season of Mist, and Skateboard

Marketing share stories and insights from decades in metal. From the 1980s to today, they've seen it all – and sold you the album. Moderated by Jim Saxton.

Sylvaine Concert at the Mausoleum of Emanuel Vigeland

Sylvaine will perform an exclusive, intimate concert at the stunning mausoleum of Norwegian artist Emanuel Vigeland. The concert is limited

to only 30 attendees and is exclusive to Inferno Music Conference delegates. Thursday 17 April 19.30 at Emanuel Vigeland Museum.

We Need To Talk

From planning to stage, communication is key. This panel explores the roles behind touring and how miscommunication can lead to stress, conflict, and added costs – and how to prevent it.

HBIC

Meet the women who’ve built powerhouse careers behind the scenes in metal. This panel focuses on the grit, drive, and work ethic it takes to succeed in a tough industry – no shortcuts, no entitlement, just hardearned success.

Old Fart Journalism

Before streaming and social media, metal fans relied on trusted print reviews to discover new music. Today, journalism has shifted – favouring opinions, trends, and instant access. This panel explores the evolution of music journalism from oldschool print to modern digital platforms.

Metal in Mainstream

Can extreme metal thrive on stages like Eurovision or the Olympics? These massive platforms offer huge exposure – but is it lasting? Do loyal fans stick around, or see it as selling out? Is mainstream visibility a quick fix or a career milestone? Our panellists share their firsthand experiences navigating the balance between staying true and breaking through.

Hail Satan

If you can pronounce Hugleikur Dagsson’s name, you’re already winning. If you don’t know his work yet, you’re missing out.

Famous for his darkly hilarious stick figure drawings, Hugleikur’s twisted humour will either leave you gasping or laughing – or both. One thing’s certain: he’s unforgettable.

Concert Culture 2025: Fan Insights & Trends

Christian Kaas Bredal presents key findings from Ticketmaster’s annual fan survey (35,000+ responses), revealing trends in ticket sales, marketing, and what Norwegian fans expect from the future of live events.

Pass the Buck

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, “pass the buck” means shifting blame or responsibility onto someone else. Lately, that seems all too common. Where does a promoter’s job end and the artist’s begin – and vice versa?

If an album flops or succeeds, who gets the blame or credit? Is digital promotion enough, or does old-school flyering still matter? Instead of pointing fingers, let’s talk.

Career Talk and Portrait Workshop with Jeremy Saffer

For over 20 years, Jeremy Saffer has captured striking portraits of icons from music, film, and pop culture – his signature style featured in Kerrang, Revolver, Metal Hammer, Alternative Press, and more. From Metallica to Ghost, his work speaks volumes. Join Jeremy and moderator Jon Garcia (Knotfest.com) for an in-depth conversation about his career and the stories behind his most iconic shoots. Plus, enjoy a live mini workshop on portrait photography, with Jon stepping in as the subject.

Black is the New Black Metal and fashion might seem worlds apart – but today, they’re deeply entwined. From black metal diaper ads to corpse paint tutorials, metal is everywhere. Our panellists dive into how metal style shapes careers – from custom stage wear to upcycled merch, tattoos, and tour trends. Plus, don’t miss the Inferno Metal Fashion Show at Goldie on Saturday at 14:30, hosted by Drag Race Sweden winner Admira Thunderpussy, showcasing the fierce looks that take over Oslo every Easter.

Bridging the Gap for the Next Generation

A recent poll shows the average age of festivalgoers is rising – because the same loyal fans return year after year. While that’s a testament to metal’s dedicated audience, it raises a big question: where are the younger fans? With classic headliners dominating lineups and vinyl releases aimed at streamers, are we missing the mark? How do we introduce new bands, connect generations, and spark the next wave of music lovers? Let’s explore how to close the gap and keep the scene thriving.

The Future of Touring: USA and Canada

Touring the US has always been costly for non-North American bands – visas, taxes, travel, and logistics quickly add up. Now, even with everything in order, some artists are being turned away at the border. With rising tariffs, ticket prices, and declining merch sales, many question if it’s still worth the risk. Could Canada benefit if bands skip the US? Our panellists discuss the challenges of this uncertain touring landscape and what it means for the future.

There’s heavy metal, and there’s bar piano. And then there’s HEAVY METAL BARPIANO: the greatest songs in metal and hard rock history, completely rearranged for solo piano.

HEAVY METAL BARPIANO comes in two distinct styles – and you can enjoy both at IMC. First, the elegant, understated bar piano style: Sit back and enjoy dignified hard ’n’ heavy lounge music during the day, as Metal Pianoman George plays his personal favourites. Have a drink and a chat with old and new friends – or just relax for a few minutes and try to guess which song you’re hearing. No vocals or loud announcements – just pure, emotional grand piano. Then, the wild and rough festival piano style: Rock out late at the hotel bar and sing along

to your favourite heavy hits. Germany’s hardest bar pianist proves the piano can rock like hell. Clap your hands to stomping rhythms, bang your head to jazzy riffs, and laugh at the spontaneous, over-the-top announcements. In the mood for a wall of death? It wouldn’t be the first time at HEAVY METAL BARPIANO.
