TROPICAL DESIGN Tropical design in architecture refers to a style of building that is specifically adapted to the climatic conditions and cultural contexts of tropical regions. This design philosophy aims to create buildings that are comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing in the hot, humid, and often rainy environments found in tropical areas.

AR. REYNALD R. BERNALDO

STAND FIRM "Stand firm" is a metaphorical expression that encourages one to be steadfast, resolute, and unyielding in the face of challenges or adversity. In the context of an architecture firm, "stand firm" refers to commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions that meet the needs and expectations of its clients, while also adhering to its core values and principles. Ultimately, stand firm in the architecture industry requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence, as well as a deep understanding of the client's requirements and the broader context in which the project is situated.

DESIGN PROCESS

Tthis design process emphasizes a holistic approach to creating a tropical house that is both functional and sustainable, while also honoring local traditions and cultural values. By incorporating natural ventilation strategies and using locally sourced materials, the building will be better adapted to its environment, reducing its environmental impact while providing a comfortable and healthy living space for its inhabitants.

CONCEPT

VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE In tropical design architecture, a vernacular concept refers to the traditional building techniques, materials, and design principles that are specific to a particular region or culture. These concepts are often deeply rooted in the local climate, geography, and social context, and have been developed over centuries of practical experience. By incorporating vernacular elements into modern architectural designs, architects can create buildings that are not only functional and sustainable but also culturally appropriate and aesthetically appealing. Some examples of vernacular concepts in tropical design include the use of natural ventilation and shading, the integration of courtyards and water features, and the selection of locally sourced materials.

The air on the higher pressure side moves in the direction of the air on the lower pressure side. The interior of the building is the low-pressure side, and the cooling breeze is represented by the increased air flow rate. This would speed up the sensation of a breeze by increasing air flow throughout the house.

By incorporating louvers, this an energyefficient method of capturing cross winds for natural cooling. Furthermore shielding the interior of the house from afternoon glare, these louvers create beautiful patterns of light. Ultimately, this strategy will produce more seamless air intake and exhaust, as well as increased resistance to outside noise and precipitation.

DEFINITION OF TERMS NIPA ROOF

ACCORDION DOOR

It is made from the leaves of the nipa palm tree, which are naturally waterproof and can withstand heavy rainfall and strong winds, making them ideal for tropical climates. It is also sustainable and ecofriendly option as they are made from natural materials that are renewable and biodegradable.

It is excellent choice for tropical design houses because they offer a combination of functionality, style, and versatility that is well-suited to the unique challenges and opportunities of living in a tropical climate. It can be easily folded back to create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces.

LOUVERS It can be designed to promote natural ventilation, which is important in tropical climates where high humidity can lead to poor indoor air quality. By allowing air to flow through the building, louvers help to improve air circulation and reduce the need for mechanical ventilation.

BAMBOO WINDOW Bamboo windows are designed to provide natural ventilation, allowing fresh air to circulate throughout the house while keeping out unwanted insects and debris.

PALLET FLOORINGS While pallet floorings may not be as durable as traditional hardwood flooring options, they can still be long-lasting if properly maintained. They are also resistant to moisture, making them a good choice for tropical regions where humidity can be high. It offers a unique and cost-effective option for those looking to incorporate natural elements into their tropical design aesthetic while also being sustainable and versatile.
