Dear Readers,
When I look back on our journey to improve things I am reminded of the comparison our CFO always makes of our company to a big factory of Disney’s Gyro Gearloose full of endless ideas and inventions. It was just like my attic at home when I was a teenager, but bigger. It’s a compliment I gladly accept.
We have always cherished that enthusiasm from the beginning, over 32 years ago. It’s in our DNA to want to make things better, and it is from that feeling that we dare to take on any challenge!
Better often means more efficient, which applies to everything, from how quickly you get your morning coffee to measure how much energy you consume on your premises.
Efficiency opportunities are everywhere. It is sometimes difficult not to get carried away when you have a group of adventurers working with you who can genuinely make anything. I have been working in a technical playground for over three decades!
We are always looking for new ways to do things better. Our team loves a challenge and is ready to tackle new projects, such as exploring new trends in metering. For example, smart metering technologies, the shift towards contactless and remote metering solutions and
a global drive towards sustainable energy practices.
Cyber security and ensuring data privacy are also critical. As the industry continues to innovate, collaboration will also be essential to harnessing the full potential of electricity meters and shaping the future of the energy landscape.
The excitement of solving technical puzzles that meet these needs and demands of the market never gets boring. It keeps us going, always looking for the next big idea to make life easier and more efficient.
You can read more about our new developments and innovations in this magazine and get to know our company and the team that makes it all possible, of which I am very proud.
As we continue on this innovation journey, let’s embrace the spirit of adventure and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Here’s to many more years of creativity, innovation, and improving things!
Ritske Clewits Founder & CEO inepro Groupinepro Metering was founded in 1992 and quickly grew into a leading Dutch company specialising in distributing and producing advanced energy measurement solutions and private-label metering products.
For 32 years, inepro Metering has strived to lead the way in the energy measurement industry by developing state-of-the-art solutions that enable accurate measurements, promote energy efficiency, and contribute to a sustainable future.
The R&D department of inepro Metering forms the company’s heart, where continuous investments are made to benefit the quality and functionality of our electricity meters. This innovative approach also extends to the production facilities designed to ensure consistent quality according to strict international standards. Each meter undergoes thorough testing protocols to ensure it meets the highest quality standards, even under demanding conditions. In addition, sustainability is an integral part of the design process, with materials carefully selected for their ecological impact and efficient manufacturing processes implemented to minimise the carbon footprint. inepro Metering strives to produce top-quality products and embraces a responsible approach to manufacturing.
The success of inepro Metering BV is mainly driven by listening to the unique wishes and needs of the market. Using the latest developments in energy measurement technology, inepro Metering can serve a wide range of European customers in different sectors. These sectors include panel building, the photovoltaic sector, building automation, electric vehicle charging solution manufacturers, industry, data centres & telecoms, campsites & marinas, gas, water & electricity and heat pump manufacturers.
At the beginning of the 20th century, achieving a motorised flight was the ultimate engineering ambition. Wilbur and Orville Wright took on this enormous challenge, driven by their passion for engineering.
The Wright brothers and their dedicated team financed their venture solely from their own pockets and the proceeds of their bicycle shop, dedicating their hearts and souls to making their aviation dream a reality. With a meticulous eye for detail and a structured approach born out of necessity, they spared neither ingenuity nor effort. And it paid off.
After years of preparation, planning, extensive research and over 1,000 test flights, the Wright brothers’ vision became a reality on December 17, 1903. Their success marked a pivotal moment in history and changed its course forever.
Wanting to express our own “day one mentality”, inepro sought inspiration from historical figures who embodied similarly principles.
In Wilbur and Orville Wright, inepro found examples of extraordinary efficiency and bold adventure, who reshaped history with their steadfast mentality. The Wright brothers’ story serves as a reference and summarises the essence of what inepro stands for.
Our culture fosters an environment where everyone contributes to the organisation’s growth and innovation while treasuring our legacy.
In our thinking today, we ask: “It’s good, but.... is it Wright?”
Just three months ago, we celebrated my 10th anniversary with the team, which shows how thoughtful my colleagues are. When I came to work here a decade ago, I joined a company driven by dedication and passion for innovative solutions, and that has never changed. What has changed is that our small team has now grown to 33 colleagues. Together, we continue to strive for the most efficient metering solutions.
In all the years that I have been working here, I have built up an excellent relationship with many customers. I believe in the motto ‘make business personal’. That’s why paying attention to
customers’ milestones is also important. I like to do something extra by sending a nice gift when, for example, someone has had a baby.
For me, the Hannover Messe is also a highlight every year. Here, I can catch up with customers, and it is a fun get-together with my colleagues.
Those events set inepro Metering apart for me and the sense of belonging and support within the team. This is very important to us, and we encourage it by regularly organising team outings, strategy days, or work trips with the department. I like to take the lead in this, and because of this, my
colleagues jokingly call me CEO (Chief Events Officer).
In addition, our headquarters in Nieuw-Vennep offers a range of excellent facilities, from a gym to recreational activities such as table tennis, table football and billiards.
Organisation-wide team outings, Friday afternoon drinks, or joint lunches are also organised, so there are plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues and make lasting friendships!
In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, companies are not only expected to stay ahead of the competition, but also to do so while adhering to ethical standards and promoting sustainability. As a leading developer and supplier of metering solutions, we recognise the importance of integrity, diversity and sustainability in our operations. We asked our colleague Jorn van Wijk, who works on our Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility efforts, to elaborate on our company’s unwavering commitment to these principles.
Our commitment to sustainability has been anchored in our activities since the founding of this organisation. Our company’s core is developing and supplying more effective and efficient innovative solutions. A large part of this is the sustainability of these products and services.
“Our CO2-neutral headquarters is a good example of our commitment to the environ-
ment,” says Jorn proudly. “Our head office was designed and built 20 years ago with sustainability in mind. It was hugely progressive at the time and something we are still proud of and enjoy the benefits of today.
The building contains the latest green innovations and environmentally friendly technologies. Initiatives such as using geothermal energy and concrete core activation reduce our energy consumption by up to 40%.”
The headquarters also features a specially designed cooling and heating system, which stores heat in summer and uses it in winter to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature all year round.
The centralised and fully flexible LED lighting system allows us to create optimal lighting conditions for every situation, promoting an open and inviting atmosphere that encourages personal communication and collaboration. “Our decision to electrify our
fleet years ago also underlines our commitment to reducing our ecological footprint,” says Jorn. “Electric cars are a big change for the environment. They produce zero emissions and align with our commitment to protect the planet for future generations.”
“To promote an ethical workplace, our Code of Ethics serves as a beacon, ensuring a culture of integrity, respect and accountability at every level of the organisation. We prioritise the health and safety of our employees and provide a stimulating work environment that promotes well-being and motivation,” notes Jorn.
“We cannot compromise in the fight against corruption and the protection of privacy,” Jorn emphasises. “We have implemented rigorous policies and compliance measures to prevent bribery and corruption. Furthermore, we are steadfast in our commitment to protecting data privacy, adhering to national laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) EU.”
Achieving ISO 27001 certification underlines our commitment to information security. This internationally recognised standard affirms our commitment to maintaining the highest level of protection of our information and systems, protecting sensitive data from cyber threats and unauthorised access. Recognising the critical role that employee awareness plays in maintaining
information security, we have implemented initiatives such as the Awaretrain tool. Through extensive training programmes, we provide our employees with the knowledge to effectively identify and limit cyber risks.
“inepro Metering is committed to promoting a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion,” Jorn confirms. “We value all employees’ unique perspectives and contributions and enforce policies that promote fair working conditions and prohibit discrimination.”
Our commitment to environmental sustainability is deeply embedded in our operations. We manage resources responsibly, source sustainable materials and incorporate
recycled materials into our products.
“By prioritising integrity, diversity, and environmental stewardship, inepro Metering not only meets the needs of our customers but also makes a positive contribution to society and the planet.
In a world where corporate responsibility is paramount, we endeavour to lead by example, embodying ethical leadership and sustainable business practices”, according to a determined Jorn.
inepro Metering has once again achieved the prestigious Ecovadis Platinum rating! This remarkable recognition places us in the top 1% of over 100,000 companies assessed by Ecovadis, reaffirming our global dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices.

Every day, Edwin Kooijman, Senior Account Executive at inepro ID Solutions, is involved in secure access applications using RFID technology. These applications range from streamlining building access and security with integrated RFID readers to facilitating accurate timekeeping for employees.
Moreover, the widespread application of RFID in contactless payment systems provides secure transactions. At the same time, RFID verification ensures authorised access to critical areas in manufacturing. These diverse applications underscore the transformative potential of RFID technology for optimising operations.
RFID technology has also established itself as a practical electric vehicle (EV) charging solution. “At its core, RFID works through the interaction between tags and readers, with tags containing integrated circuits and antennas and readers emitting radio waves to communicate with them”, Edwin explains.
In EV charging, RFID plays a crucial role in authentication and access control at charging stations, providing drivers with a secure and reliable connection. EV owners are usually equipped with RFID cards or register their smartphones at charging networks. Upon arrival at a charging station, the driver places the RFID card near the reader or taps his smartphone against it. The reader then verifies the
driver’s credentials, and charging can begin. This integration of RFID technology in EV charging not only streamlines the user experience but also increases the overall efficiency and security of the charging infrastructure.
“However,” as Edwin highlights, “combining RFID technologies with EV charging presents unique challenges that require innovative solutions. A key challenge lies in the variability of RFID implementations across different charging networks, leading to inconvenience for EV owners who may need multiple cards or apps to access different stations.
Standardisation efforts and interoperable systems are critical solutions to this problem, simplifying the user experience and enabling seamless access across different providers,” Edwin
emphasises. “In addition, it is paramount to ensure the security of data transmission to prevent unauthorised access and potential data breaches.”
Efficient user experience and ease of use are critical factors for the widespread adoption of RFID-based EV charging systems. “Our team has addressed these issues with foresight by designing an advanced RFID reader, the Spider, that exceeds traditional functionalities.”
Edwin highlights that the Spider RFID reader features advanced capabilities, including multi-technology compatibility, ensuring seamless integration with various RFID standards. Moreover, its range and performance guarantee reliable communication even in demanding environments. Edwin also addresses the importance of security:
“Security features, including encryption, protect sensitive data and reinforce confidence in the system. Customisation options cater to different user requirements, allowing our partners to customise the Spider reader accordingly.” Edwin points out that industrial durability ensures reliability in harsh conditions, making it suitable for various environments.
“As RFID is increasingly becoming a part of our lives, enhancing security and making EV charging much more convenient, the Spider RFID reader is leading the way with its innovative features, making our journey to a better and cleaner future smoother”, according to a proud Edwin.

As a Belgian distributor of energy meters, Ecompany supplied 485 meters from inepro Metering for the Meerzicht project.
Meerzicht is an impressive residence that serves as the focal point of the Duinenwater project in Knokke-Heist, Belgium.
Surrounded by nature, it boasts views of both water on one side and a large inner garden on the other. Beneath this garden lies an underground parking spanning 1.6 hectares, accommodating 250 garage boxes, 120 parking spaces, and 190 private storage units. All garage boxes and storage units were equipped with lighting and
power sockets.
At client’s request, a lockable power socket was installed at many parking spaces, allowing residents to charge their electric bikes or vehicles.
To monitor the energy consumption of these sockets and allocate costs accordingly, the decision was made to utilise the electricity meters from inepro Metering. In consultation with Ecompany, Elektro Deblaere & Co opted for the Smart PRO1 with M-Bus reading, with data centralised through an M-Bus master from Elvaco. These single-phase meters proved to be the ideal
solution for this project due to their simple operation and robustness. This system enables easy reading of the bus, and subsequently, based on the serial numbers, the consumption can be linked to the correct owners by the building manager.
Francis Missiaen, Director of Elektro Deblaere & Co, reflects positively on this project: “This installation was a challenge for us. With thorough preparation and the necessary support from Ecompany, we can consider this project a great success.”

European regulation sets ambitious goals for various countries to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) in response to the increasing demand for sustainable transport. The Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), effective on October 3, 2023, is a significant step towards sustainable mobility in Europe. This regulation aims to reduce the EU’s net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% from 1990 by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Luuk Timmermans, Business Development Manager Nayax at inepro, highlights the AFIR’s key provision: “New charging stations must be compatible with all EV models, allowing for unified payment methods across different stations, thereby streamlining user experience and eliminating ‘charger chaos’.”
The AFIR aims to increase the presence of alternative fuel charging and refuelling stations throughout Europe, enhancing public on-street charging capacity in cities and along highways. Its goal is to enable citizens to charge electric cars as conveniently as at traditional petrol stations. AFIR sets targets for charging points based on light electric vehicle numbers, aiming for 1.3 kW per electric vehicle, totalling approximately 15,000 points for 100,000 cars. Targets include providing 3,600 kW of charging capacity every 60 kilometres for electric
trucks by December 31, 2030. “In short, the AFIR lays the foundation for a standardised, transparent and efficient charging network in Europe, of which 1 of the focal points is payments, with the overall goal of making electric driving even more attractive,” explains Luuk.
In addition to standardising payment methods, the AFIR acknowledges the importance of diverse payment terminal options to accommodate different charging infrastructures. For Direct Current (DC) fast-charging stations, the regulation
encourages the deployment of robust payment terminals or kiosks equipped with advanced functionalities. These terminals should facilitate swift transactions, supporting various payment modes, including credit/debit cards, mobile wallets, and NFCenabled devices. Furthermore, they should feature intuitive interfaces with clear instructions and multilingual support, ensuring a user-friendly experience for EV drivers.
On the other hand, for Alternating Current (AC) charging solutions, the AFIR emphasises the integration of efficient payment
solutions tailored to the specific needs of AC charging infrastructure. This involves implementing software-based payment systems that enable seamless transactions via mobile apps or online platforms. By leveraging cloud-based technology and secure payment gateways, AC charging providers can offer convenient payment options while maintaining the integrity and security of financial transactions.
“These measures, therefore, now represent a great opportunity for manufacturers (OEMs), charging station operators (CPOs) and Charge Point Management System (CPMS) providers. By integrating innovative payment methods, they can and will be (legally) required to provide the best payment options available and can contribute immensely to the further deployment of electric driving”, according to an enthusiastic Luuk.
“Currently, many EV charging stations limit payments to users subscribed to specific apps or services,” Luuk notes. “This creates barriers and deters potential EV drivers. Integrating EV chargers with payment terminals that accept open cashless payments is the solution, enhancing the user experience and benefiting both EV drivers and CPOs. This flexibility ensures seamless charging through contactless debit/credit card payment or digital wallets. It leads to significant revenue growth for CPOs by attracting more EV drivers and fostering recurring business without needing subscriptions or app downloads. Additionally, open cashless payments offer enhanced security through EMV chip technology and mobile wallets, safeguarding users’ sensitive information.”
inepro promotes EV adoption with Nayax
