Moncrief Construction Limited (MCL) was founded in 1967 by Harold and Margaret Moncrief.MCL has grown from a small hydro and telephone line company to become one of Northwestern Ontario’s largest and most diversified construction companies. In 2022, MCL’s annual sales exceeded $87million.

Our electrical and powerlines divisions construct substations, remote transmission lines, and light the communities and airports of the North. Our civil division builds roads, bridges, causeways, lagoons, pipelines, and dams. Our aggregate division drills, blasts, and crushes Canadian Shield rock for the roads and industries of the region. Our transportation, mechanical, and administrative personnel provide support to our crews and equipment. MCL completes our own equipment and truck repairs and maintainsan inventory of replacement parts. MCL is licensed as a Vehicle Inspection Station for issuance of Safeties and Annual Inspection Certificates for Heavy Duty Trucks and trailers. MCL has Heavy Equipment Licensed Mechanics, Vehicle Licensed Mechanics, and a Welding Shop.

MCL is based out of Kenora, Ontario and operates primarily in Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba, but has completed projects across Canada. MCL main office is at 504 Ninth Street North in Kenora, Ontario. MCL has two equipment yards located North of Kenora. MCL’s satellite construction yards and properties throughout the region provide ideal staging grounds for our wide range of projects. MCL has staging yards in Dryden, Ear Falls,Red Lake, and PickleLake, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

MCL has a full time Health and Safety Manager, as well as designated health and safety officers assigned to the larger projects.

MCL is a Rated Contractor with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario
Registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities with certified, registered trainers on staff for the Surface Miner Common Core program.

Job Fair – MCL arranges for an on-site/ virtual eventto gather applications and conduct interview sessions. Events are advertised on all available mediums to reach the maximum amount of band members.
Designated First Nation Representative – MCL coordinates with a designated representative from the communityto pass out information about available positions and gather resumes from all interested persons.
