The idea of this DNA Book is Woodland Cottages. For me personally, nature especially woodland is a very important thing that can not be separated from my life. I grew up in a city near mountains and forests, and my dad often took me to a trip to an open nature. When I’m too busy with school or work, too tired to socialize, or simply too tired to adjust to the fast paced environment of a big city, nothing can restore my energy as well as a quiet me time in the woods. In those times I often imagine if I can live in a woodland cottage and do slower activities there like reading vintage books, baking, gardening, having a tea time, crafting, writing letters and most importantly dancing under the sunlight in a wildflower fields behind the cottage. My own preference of the said woodland cottage refers to the romanticized interpretation of the serene, warm, and peaceful England cottage life.
In a form of clothing pieces, the vibe of a woodland cottage and its typical activities can be translated into a serene yet whimsical Women’s Ready-To-Wear inspired from the nature and the clothing style of Edwardian era in 19000s Loose-fitting, flowy dresses or skirts are the key points. Details like ruffles, laces, knitted lace, puffy sleeves, lined up buttons, frill collars, big pockets, and patches are often appeared. The more specific details can be shown through the embroidered plants, wildflowers or animals, and embroidered handwritten words or letter.
The fabrics used here are made of natural fibres like linen and cotton, added with a whimsical touch from chiffon crepe. Neutral, warm and muted colors are the theme for this DNA book, inspired from the woodland cottage and its rustic interior and also the calmness of the nature.
