In all ShineLight materials, the broad term “Autism” represents Pervasive Developmental Disorders, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Autism, PDD, PDD-NOS and Asperger’s Syndrome.
Welcome to ShineLight ShineLight, formerly Genesis A New Beginning of Fayetteville is a wellness community created with the distinct purpose of providing a brighter life and future for individuals with autism. ShineLight serves as a guiding light for individuals and their families by leading the way in support and services for individuals with autism. We seek the light in each person we support and join them on their journey of discovery. We know that autism is a highly misunderstood and challenging condition with a significant spectrum of factors. We also realize that doctors and researchers are constantly learning more about autism and that new methods of teaching are always evolving.

The ShineLight Family What started as just a few people 8 years ago, has grown to a family of more than 26 ShineLight care providers, many of whom have been with us since the beginning of our journey. ShineLight staff are all passionately devoted to providing an atmosphere of growth and personal development for both the people we serve and one another creating a place where everyone is encouraged to shine.

Services & Supports RESIDENTIAL LIVING A radiant warmth envelopes each ShineLight home. The housemates and staff create a family community where each person feels welcome and at home. At ShineLight, we work with residents who have autism to create an environment where they have a sense of ownership, comfort, and safety. We pay close attention to the important details. If the color green makes you feel calm and relaxed, then we will help you select the green paint that makes you feel your best. If the sound of country music sets you on edge, we will ensure that your favorite tunes are on. Housemates celebrate special events and personal successes of one another and enjoy the constant support of their ShineLight family. We also work within our neighborhoods and towns to develop a sense of community and support for our residents. Awareness and education about autism and how it affects individuals within our communities creates a safe and welcoming environment for all. Services & Supports SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT The tasks that fill our daily routine often define our happiness and provide direction. For some, employment provides fulfilling rewards in more ways than one. ShineLight staff is specially trained to help individuals with autism maximize their strengths and determine their interests with the goal of finding career opportunities. If additional schooling or trade experience is required, ShineLight can help make that happen. We will work with each person to find the right job at the right company where the benefits of a paycheck and a sense of purpose contribute to a brighter, healthier lifestyle.
Shine Brighter with ShineLight With an annual 3k Run/Walk each year, community awareness events, holiday home decorating, buddy programs, monetary donations and more, there are a spectrum of opportunities for everyone. Services & Supports COMMUNITY LIVING ShineLight understands the importance of a sense of belonging for the people we provide services and support to. Our goal is for residents to enjoy all aspects of the community we live in and to participate in events and activities in our areas. We understand, however, that the people we support may encounter other people within their communities who do not fully understand autism. That is why ShineLight works to create a greater understanding by serving as an advocate and educational resource within our communities. We are committed to shedding light on the subject of autism through a variety of programs by providing informational sessions about autism at local libraries, educational seminars in schools, and parent/family members support groups. The Genesis of ShineLight At the start of our journey, ShineLight was known as Genesis, A New Beginning. Genesis was originally created to serve the residential needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. As time passed, we were called to navigate a more distinct path with a select group of individuals who needed our help – individuals with autism. Those who suffer from complications of autism are a specialized group and often require differentiated care. Just like a cardiologist choses to specialize in matters relating to the heart, at ShineLight, we made a deliberate choice to focus on the very specific needs of individuals with autism. Our experienced leadership is uniquely qualified to take ShineLight on this journey and create a wellness environment designed to help engage individuals with autism helping them shine their light. Our name, ShineLight, represents our desire to Brighten the lives of individuals with autism by providing a guiding light which helps them to find their own inner light. Our goal is to be a beacon of hope for everyone touched by autism.
