Indian minister Pabitra Margherita engages with Indian diaspora during Melbourne visit

India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State for Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, made a brief visit to Melbourne,recently, where he connected with the Indian diaspora at a reception hosted by Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar.


The gathering served as a platform for the Minister to acknowledge the community’s growing role in deepening the bilateral ties between India and Australia. In his address, he appreciated the contributions of Indian-origin professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and cultural groups in shaping Victoria’s multicultural success story.

Minister Margherita also visited the Consulate General of India, where he was briefed on the expanding scope of IndiaVictoria relations, including trade, education, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.



The visit underscored the government’s continued commitment to strengthening engagement with overseas Indian communities and enhancing India’s strategic partnership with Australia.
