AIBC WA hosts business event to boost Australia-India trade ties

The Australia India Business Council’s Western Australia chapter (AIBC WA) recently hosted a dynamic and highimpact business networking event, bringing together industry leaders, government officials, and community members to further strengthen bilateral ties between Australia and India.

AIBC WA President Paritosh (Pari) Misra opened the event by underlining AIBC’s pivotal role in promoting Australia–India economic relations, with a renewed focus on leveraging opportunities under the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA) in 2025-26.

Management Committee Member Siva Murugappa shared AIBC WA’s upcoming initiatives, while AIBC WA Treasurer Richard Baddeley, Principal at Wrays, spotlighted Wrays’ legal and intellectual property expertise. Wrays also sponsored and meticulously managed the evening.

Vice President Yaso Ponnuthurai closed the event with a warm vote of thanks, celebrating member contributions and collaborative efforts.

Attendees included Cr Bruce Reynolds (Deputy Lord Mayor, City of Perth), Ian Martinus (WA Trade Commissioner to India), Graham Reid (CEO Hockey WA and former Indian team coach), Rosie Staude (Deputy Director, DFAT), Michael Carter (CCIWA), Naresh Kumar (Acting Consul General of India), and former cricketer Brad Hogg.

The evening underscored AIBC WA’s commitment to creating impactful connections and fostering business growth between Australia and India.
