AIBC boosts Australia-India cotton and textile trade
Melbourne, May 2 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
In a strategic effort to deepen Australia-India trade ties, the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) recently facilitated a business delegation visit to the cotton farming and processing hubs of Narrabri and Gunnedah in regional New South Wales.

Led by Irfan Malik (MAICD), AIBC National Associate Chair and president of NSW, the delegation explored new opportunities in the cotton and textile industry. The group was warmly hosted by Roy Butler MP, Member for Barwon, and supported by Dr. Sarvesan Janakiraman, Consul General of India in Sydney, alongside NSW Parliamentary Friends of India Co-Chair Warren Kirby MP.

The delegation included prominent business figures from agri, food, logistics, and warehousing sectors, who engaged with local industry leaders to identify potential avenues for trade growth, investment, and job creation in regional NSW.

This visit builds on the momentum of AIBC’s recent mission to textile clusters in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, which sparked significant interest among Indian manufacturers.
The goal: increase access to premium Australian cotton and foster collaboration on yarn manufacturing and spinning mills in Australia.
The initiative promises to extend the Australia-India cotton value chain and strengthen both countries’ positions in global textile markets.
