Australia-India Business Council strengthens ties at NSW industry policy event

The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) leadership recently participated in a highprofile government and industry reception in New South Wales, engaging key stakeholders to enhance collaboration between Australia and India in critical sectors.

The event, hosted by NSW Deputy Premier Prue Car MP on behalf of the NSW Premier, along with Minister for Industry and Trade Anoulack Chanthivong MP, focused on strategic discussions around net zero and energy transition, housing, and local manufacturing—sectors aligned with both nations’ economic priorities.

AIBC National Chair DeepakRaj Gupta OAM and AIBC NSW President Irfan Malik (MAICD) led the council’s delegation, emphasizing the immense potential for investment, capability-building, and trade partnerships. Key participants included Investment NSW Deputy Secretary Rebecca McPhee, Trade Executive Director Karla Lampe, DFAT NSW State Office Director Crispin Conroy AM, and India’s Consul General in Sydney, Dr. Janakiraman Sarvesvaran. The discussions centered on strengthening regional business partnerships, utilizing international trade offices in India, and unlocking new market opportunities. Warren Kirby MP, Member for Riverstone and Co-Chair for NSW Parliamentary Friends of India, hosted AIBC leaders at NSW Parliament House, sharing insights from his recent visit to India and identifying key growth sectors for bilateral engagement.

AIBC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering deeper business relations between Australia and India, working alongside government and industry leaders to drive investment, innovation, and trade in these priority sectors.
