Maha Kumbh 2025 event showcases India’s spiritual legacy

The Consulate General of India, Sydney, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Australia and Hindu Council Australia, hosted a special event titled ‘Sacred Waters: Spirit & Scale of Maha Kumbh 2025’ on February 24, 2025.

Dignitaries at the event shared their insights on the cultural and spiritual significance of Maha Kumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. They emphasized how the Kumbh Mela represents India’s deep-rooted spiritual heritage, attracting millions of pilgrims seeking divine blessings and selfpurification at the sacred rivers.

The event also highlighted Uttar Pradesh as a key cultural and tourism destination, showcasing its rich heritage sites, the revered ghats of Varanasi, and the spiritual confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj. The discussion reinforced the state’s role as a hub for spiritual tourism and cultural exploration, inviting global travelers to experience its timeless traditions.
