Australia-India Friendship Lunch in Ballarat strengthens bilateral ties

The Australia-India Friendship Lunch was recently held in Ballarat, bringing together dignitaries and community leaders to celebrate and strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations. Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar attended the event alongside Councillors Samantha McIntosh and Ted Lapkin, as well as prominent members of the Indian and Australian communities from various fields.

The gathering provided a platform for networking and discussions focused on deepening Australia-India collaboration in business, culture, education, and tourism. During his visit, Dr. Sushil Kumar toured the historic Ballarat Town Hall and visited Federation University, where he interacted with faculty members, researchers, and students. He explored the EV Lab and Australia’s first wind turbine training tower, highlighting the university’s growing partnerships with Indian institutions.

The Consul General also met with Indian diaspora business owners in Ballarat, acknowledging their contributions to the local economy. Concluding his visit, he participated in a special screening of the Indian film ‘CHHAAVA’, organized by the Consulate in association with the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), celebrating multicultural engagement in the region.
