Consulate honours trailblazing women on International Women’s Day

The Consulate General of India, Melbourne, hosted an inspiring evening to celebrate International Women’s Day, recognizing the achievements of women who have broken barriers in their respective fields. Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar welcomed distinguished guests, including mountaineer Poorna Malavath, Indian Australian cricketer Hasrat Gill, and filmmaker Mitu Bhowmik Lange, all of whom have made remarkable contributions to their professions.

Poorna Malavath, the youngest girl to scale Mount Everest at just 13, has become a symbol of resilience and determination, proving that age and background are no barriers to achieving great heights. Her journey continues to inspire young adventurers, especially girls from underprivileged communities.
