FICQ and partner organizations host Women’s Day celebration

The Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland Inc. (FICQ), in collaboration with Damini Women's Association of Queensland Inc. and Tamil Association Queensland Inc. –Hemisphere (Women's Wing), hosted a Women's Day celebration on February 16, 2025, at Red Cross, Milton.



The event brought together dignitaries, representatives, and members of various organizations, fostering unity and empowerment. Councillor Emily Kim extended her support to FICQ for this initiative.


The program commenced with an introduction by Lila Pratap, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Preethi Suraj, President of FICQ. Cynthia Kennedy, Director from the Office for Women, Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism, delivered a compelling presentation.



Bisma Asif MP, Shadow Assistant Minister for Multiculturalism and Citizenship, and Shadow Assistant Minister for the Environment, addressed the audience in Hindi, emphasizing multiculturalism and environmental sustainability.
An engaging quiz, hosted by Shreemathi, kept the audience entertained, while Margie Nightingale MP, Member for Inala, delivered a keynote address. The event also featured a musical performance by Himadri and an informative session by Satya Achal Recruitment on career opportunities and the Multicultural Recruit Preparation Pathway in the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
Attendees enjoyed a photo session, refreshments, and networking opportunities, making the event a meaningful platform for community engagement and empowerment.
