The Airport Economist – India Episodes 2025’ launched at Indian Consulate

In a vibrant event hosted on April 9 at the Consulate General of India in Sydney, the official launch of ‘The Airport Economist – India Episodes 2025’ marked another step forward in strengthening Australia–India economic ties.

The special episodes, part of the renowned Airport Economist series, are set in Chennai and Bengaluru—two of India’s most dynamic economic and tech hubs. They aim to offer valuable industry insights and highlight emerging opportunities for Australian businesses seeking collaboration and expansion in India.

Hosted by Professor Tim Harcourt, Industry Professor and Chief Economist at the Institute for Public Policy and Governance (IPPG) at the University of Technology Sydney, the series explores how Australian entrepreneurs and investors can tap into India’s booming sectors, from digital technology to advanced manufacturing.

Supported by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, the episodes provide not just economic analysis but a practical roadmap for crossborder partnerships.

Speaking at the launch, officials emphasized the growing trade relationship between the two nations and the need for greater awareness of India’s regional strengths. “These episodes act as a bridge, helping Australians understand where and how to connect with Indian markets,” said one participant.

The launch event attracted representatives from the business community, academia, and government sectors, all eager to see how storytelling and economic diplomacy can work together to build stronger bilateral ties.
