Brisbane, June 16 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
The Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ), in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Brisbane, organised a blood donation awareness program on June 14 at the Red Cross to mark World Blood Donor Day. The program focused on educating the community about the importance of blood donation and encouraging more people to become regular donors. FICQ addressed common questions and misconceptions, providing information on eligibility, age limits, exclusions, donation intervals, and donation centre locations.

In a Facebook post, FICQ stated: “Each of us has a role in spreading the message about the joys of donating blood—the positive impact it has on both donors and recipients, and how it can enhance one’s health. Educating youth about the importance of blood donation from an early age is crucial, as there exists a significant gap between blood donors and recipients in our world.”

The event also featured speakers who shared their real-life experiences as donors and recipients. FICQ extended its gratitude to all the speakers and participants who supported the initiative.
