Melbourne Malayalee community marks Onam with festive gathering

The Melbourne Malayalee Federation Inc (MMF) hosted a grand Onam celebration that drew community members together for an evening of joy, culture, and tradition.

Among the distinguished guests were Consul General of India Dr Sushil Kumar, Assistant Minister for Citizenship, Customs and Multicultural Affairs and International Education Julian Hill MP, Eden Foster MP, Cr Jim Memeti, Mayor of Greater Dandenong, and renowned Malayalam actor and producer Asif Ali.

The program featured lively performances of music, dance, and cultural displays that reflected Kerala’s vibrant heritage. The event also underscored Melbourne’s multicultural identity, with the Malayalee community playing a vital role in enriching Australia’s diverse social landscape while preserving their cultural roots.
