GETTING YOUR ELDERLY PARENTS TO MIGRATE HERE
In a recent weekend broadcast, Indian UnkRadio's Kashif Harrison (pictured) tackledthe problems faced by Indian-origin Australians in getting their elderly parents to move here, with respect to visa regulations. It was a program prepared upon listener request.
It is not easy for parents to join their adult children here in Australia. There are long waiting periods and heavy fees, and then a Balance ofFamily test.
A special guest on the show was Arvind Duggal of Adelaide, who has been campaigning hard to introduce a Long Stay Visa for Australian citizens' and residents' parents. His proposal to the Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has now taken the form of a petition that has upwards of 19,000 signatures, not only from the Indian community but also from other migrant communities. Parliament personnel have alsomade suggestions to theinitiative.
