associations and community organisations had been invited and were all individually acknowledged and welcomed by the President. For the first time, the Indian Association’s President, Narayana Rai was also invited. He was accorded a particularly warm welcome and a rousing applause by the audience.

It was also particularly heart-warming to see some very senior members of the community, who were founding members of PAASA honoured on the night. Some of them had been close relations with the Indian community too and were from the Bangladesh region. These elders were given a standing ovation with genuine love and respect.
