FISHERS PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY Dr. Ana Vázquez, Founder and CEO of Fishers Pediatric Dentistry (FPD), is commemorating the twenty year anniversary of the practice and celebrating many milestones in her career. When Dr. Ana first envisioned her pediatric dental practice in 1996, she wanted to take her patients and their parents to a place that would take their minds off the anxieties and fears often associated with dental treatment. She designed her office with two things in mind: state-of-the-art clinical excellence and a fun place that children actually enjoy. With a reception area filled with palm trees, beaches and Adirondack chairs, and treatment rooms surrounded by rainforest murals and surfboards, the Puerto Rican theme has proven to be very successful.

Twenty years later, Dr. Ana’s vision has grown to include a new partner, Dr. Misti Pratt. Dr. Misti graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2007 and joined FPD in June of 2014 where she has been an integral part of the team since. Early on in Dr. Misti’s career at FPD, Dr. Ana realized that they both shared a common bond…one that most search for, but never find.

Dr. Ana and Dr. Misti share the same passion for children and vision for creating a unique patient experience while providing the highest level of quality care.

Dr. Ana and Dr. Misti understand that getting your child to the dentist is not always easy and there may be fears and anxieties associated Dr. Misti Pratt with visiting the dentist. Together, they are continuously seeking ways to provide comfort outside of traditional techniques. They are excited to announce that FPD has joined the movement of providing animal-assisted therapy in a clinical setting and, introduce Pearly to you! Pearly is a five month old miniature Australian Labradoodle and the official mascot and therapy dog in training for FPD. Animal-assisted therapy has been known to provide physical and emotional benefits during stressful situations, such as a trip to the dentist, especially for those with autism, ADHD and other special needs.

Pearly has been with FPD for just over three months and her personality has definitely changed the energy at the office. “She already Pearly has an amazing intuition for helping nervous children and has been able to make anxious patients feel more at ease,” stated Dr. Ana Vázquez.

Pearly has also made a positive impact on her coworkers. “She is one of the first to arrive in the morning and she takes the time to greet each member of her FPD family as they enter the door to start their day,” Dr. Misti Pratt added. When Pearly is not lending a paw to hold, she can often be found providing her team members their daily dose of “pet therapy.”
