EXPLORE THE Y WHY THE Y The Y is an association of people who have committed to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. We are a non-profit, charitable organization established to provide programs and services to youth, adults and families in order to strengthen the community. The YMCA is funded locally. Funds raised through contributions, endowments and membership fees are used to provide services in Will, Grundy and part of Kendall Counties.

Updating Your Contact Information We ask our members to notify us of any changes in their contact Information, including email, phone or residential address. To update your contact information, please call (815) SAY-YMCA, use the “contact us” link on our website or stop by the Membership Desk during your next visit.

Credits and Refunds Program fees are not refundable. Classes missed due to weather, holidays, illness, acts of God, or choice of participant cannot be made up, credited or refunded. If the YMCA cancels a class due to low enrollment, participants will be issued a credit for a future program. Members who withdraw from a program for medical reasons and present a physician’s order will receive a credit for the remaining classes. When a class needs to be cancelled by the Y, the class will be rescheduled.

All credits are good for one year from the date issued. Members who withdraw from a class for non-medical reasons may be subject to a processing fee.

Insurance The YMCA assumes no responsibility for personal injuries or loss/damage of personal property while individuals are using YMCA facilities. It is recommended that participants make provisions to provide this coverage through their family insurance program. Anyone engaging in new physical activity or who may have health-related issues should consult a physician prior to starting fitness routines.

Child Supervision Children under the age of ten must be supervised by an adult at all times when using YMCA facilities. The Kids Corner Supervised Playroom is available during designated hours for Facility Members, ages six months to ten years old.

Child Abuse Prevention Policy The Greater Joliet Area YMCA is mandated by state law to report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

Holidays The YMCA prorates classes on days when the buildings are closed for the following holidays: Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The Y closes at 1 p.m. on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Cell Phone Use Policy The use of cameras, video recorders, cell phones and/or any photographic devices is NOT ALLOWED in YMCA locker rooms, changing areas or restrooms. We also ask members to refrain from making or answering phone calls while using the Wellness Center. This is for the safety and privacy of all our members and participants.

No Smoking Policy In the interest of the health and safety of our staff and members, it is the policy of the Greater Joliet Area YMCA to forbid all forms of tobacco in any YMCA facilities or on the grounds of any YMCA property. YMCA grounds include: facilities, parking lots, sidewalks, fields, parks, and paths.

Tobacco products prohibited include, but are not limited to, lit or unlit cigarettes (clove, bidis, kreteks), e-cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, hookah products; any smokeless, dissolvable, or inhaled tobacco products, including but not limited to dip, chew, snuff or snus; and all nicotine delivery devices that are not FDA approved as cessation products.

Facility Privileges The Greater Joliet Area YMCA reserves the right to terminate facility privileges at any time for inappropriate behavior or conduct detrimental to its members or the organization.

Building & Room Schedules The Y schedules rooms in the building to allow for classes and open times. You can find room schedules in the facility or posted online by visiting www.jolietymca.org. Members can also access, view and set reminders for our free fitness classes and community events by signing-up to receiving weekly emails through on our online fitness schedule. To subscribe, visit www.jolietymca.org.

Wellness Center The Wellness Center is available for members ages 16 and over. We ask that members be courteous and put away equipment when finished using it and refrain from talking on their cell phones while in the Wellness Center. Teens (ages 13-15), who have completed the Wellness Center Certification Class, may utilize the cardio and strength machines. For safety reasons, only members ages 16 and over may use the free weights.

How to Register for Programs • Online by visiting www.jolietymca.org • In person by visiting your local branch • By phone by calling (815) SAY-YMCA (current members) The Greater Joliet Area YMCA accepts cash, check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover.

In most cases, phone registration is accepted for current members when paying by a credit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT). Outstanding balances must be paid before a member will be allowed to register for future programs. System credits and promotional codes may be used online.

All classes have a maximum and minimum number of participants. When possible, classes will be added to accommodate wait lists and to expand those offerings that are in high demand. Classes below the minimum will be combined when possible, and as a last alternative, will be cancelled.

KID ZONE

Before and After School Youth Recreation Program The Morris Community YMCA’s Kid Zone before and after school program serves students in grades K-5 at Morris Elementary School District 54 and Saratoga Elementary Schools. Children do arts and crafts, play games, develop friendships and learn lessons that will last a lifetime. The Y’s Kid Zone program encourages positive behavior through character development activities and emphasizes the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

HALF-DAY OUT OF SCHOOL Open to all Morris Elementary School District 54 and Saratoga Students

The Morris Community YMCA will offer half-day programming for students at both Morris Elementary and Saratoga Elementary Schools. Children, grades K-8, may sign into the Y upon dismissal from school at 11:30 a.m. and be signed out as late as 6 p.m.

Depending on enrollment numbers, Saratoga students may be transported to Morris Elementary School. All participants should dress for the weather and bring a sack lunch. Advanced registration is required and space is limited.

Fees are non-refundable. The registration deadline is 48 hours prior to the day off school.

DHS funds are accepted. Financial assistance is available for those who do not qualify for DHS funds. Programming runs from August to May. A $45 non-refundable registration fee (per family)*, the first of 10 installment payments and YMCA membership fee (if applicable) is due upon registering. The remaining nine payments are paid via automatic withdrawal from a checking account. Debit and credit cards also accepted.

Participants may start attending four business days after the day registration is completed.

KIDS CORNER SUPERVISED PLAYROOM Healthy parents are happy parents. Let your child have fun at the Y while you take time for yourself to get fit. There is no need to call ahead. Parents must remain in the facility while their children are in the playroom.

SWIM TEAM

FALL SWIM CLINIC

This is your opportunity to spend time with our coaches to learn new drills, improve your swimming skills and meet members of the JETS family.

Swimmers do not need to be YMCA Facility Members to participate in the clinic. At the completion of the clinic, swimmers who wish to join the team will be given a group placement along with registration materials.

Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards (one length of the YMCA pool) comfortably and confidently without a flotation device. If you are unable to make the clinic, an evaluation can be scheduled at any point of the year, and mid-season registration is possible if approved by the head coach.

This soccer-like sport is played indoors with teams of five players including a goalie. Led by David Valdivia, this high-energy league will help your aspiring young player develop his/her footwork skills. The league will include a weekly practice and Saturday games. C.W. Avery Family YMCA/Plainfield In the YMCA’s Youth Flag Football League, children and their families will enjoy the football experience every time they step on the field. Players will learn the fundamentals of football in a safe and fun environment. In this program each participant receives a football jersey to wear for all games and to keep.

Dance Beginnings

In a nurturing environment, toddlers will move, dance and have fun, while developing spatial awareness, coordination and rhythm. Dance attire can be worn.

Age 2

Children love to move, dance and have fun—and that’s what this class is all about! Children will develop spatial awareness, coordination and rhythm, and learn basic ballet terminology and steps. Dance attire and ballet shoes are recommended.

HO, HO HOLD YOUR WEIGHT November 12 - January 5 • $25 Ages 16 and Up Our eight-week Holiday Weight Maintenance Challenge will help you get in shape and keep the weight off this holiday season. We have a great plan to help you adopt healthy eating and exercise habits while saying ‘No’ to those tempting holiday cravings. Are you up for the challenge?

If you can maintain your weight within 2 pounds for 8 weeks, you will receive your money back in the form of a $25 YMCA credit that can be used towards any fitness program, including personal training. If you gain more than 2 pounds during this eight-week challenge, your $25 fee will be donated in your name to the Y’s Annual Giving Campaign.

Women on Weights In this five-week class, you will burn more calories, learn safe strength training exercises and get a great workout. You will do a variety of exercises focusing on major muscle groups for a different type of workout. In this small group setting, your instructor will be able to give you modifications and form corrections helping you get the most out of your workout.

FitStart FitStart is a program designed for the new exerciser or those who have trouble sticking to a workout program. Throughout the 12-week program, participants will meet with a Fit Coach up to four times. During these meetings, your workouts will be evaluated and, as your fitness level increases, so will your workout intensity. The first session will consist of cardio. Your second and third sessions will introduce you to strength training equipment and the fourth session will review and make sure you are comfortable with your new fitness plan. FitStart is not personal training, but your coach will help you determine and meet your goals.

Body Gem Metabolism Analysis Screenings Have you ever wondered how many calories your body needs each day?

One of our certified personal trainers will use the non-invasive BodyGem indirect calorimeter to determine the number of calories you burn in a day at rest. Knowing this information can be the difference between gaining and losing weight. After the analysis you will receive an overview of recommended activity and a personal nutrition profile. No eating, drinking, supplements, exercise or smoking four (4) hours before your appointment.

2018 YMCA ANNUAL CAMPAIGN In a world in need of more hope, more community and more support, the YMCA offers places and programs where people of all walks of life can connect. Inside our branches, at off-site before and after school programs and in our community-based offerings, staff and volunteers are helping kids, families and seniors nurture the body, mind and spirit.
