to participate in YMCA programs, regardless of their ability to pay. Through programming at our four YMCA branches and at locations throughout our community, the Y served more than 9,100 people in 2018 who would not have otherwise had the opportunity to participate in membership and programs.

As a result, children built friendships at summer camp and through our before and after school programs, seniors experienced community, teens set goals for their future while receiving college readiness and career training, and families grew stronger by spending quality time together.

To make all of this possible, the YMCA proudly invested $1.5 million into our members, our community and our future, through scholarship assistance and free community programming.

EXPLORE THE Y WHY THE Y The Y is an association of people who have committed to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. We are a non-profit, charitable organization established to provide programs and services to youth, adults and families in order to strengthen the community. The YMCA is funded locally. Funds raised through contributions, endowments and membership fees are used to provide services in Will, Grundy and part of Kendall Counties.

Updating Your Contact Information We ask our members to notify us of any changes in their contact Information, including email, phone or residential address. To update your contact information, please call (815) SAY-YMCA, use the “contact us” link on our website or stop by the Membership Desk during your next visit.

Credits and Refunds Program fees are not refundable. Classes missed due to weather, holidays, illness, acts of God, or choice of participant cannot be made up, credited or refunded. If the YMCA cancels a class due to low enrollment, participants will be issued a credit for a future program. Members who withdraw from a program for medical reasons and present a physician’s order will receive a credit for the remaining classes. When a class needs to be cancelled by the Y, the class will be rescheduled.

All credits are good for one year from the date issued. Members who withdraw from a class for non-medical reasons may be subject to a processing fee.

Insurance The YMCA assumes no responsibility for personal injuries or loss/damage of personal property while individuals are using YMCA facilities. It is recommended that participants make provisions to provide this coverage through their family insurance program. Anyone engaging in new physical activity or who may have health-related issues should consult a physician prior to starting fitness routines.

Child Supervision Children under the age of ten must be supervised by an adult or family member at least sixteen years of age at all times when using YMCA facilities. The Kids Corner Supervised Playroom is available during designated hours for Facility Members, ages six months to ten years old.

Child Abuse Prevention Policy The Greater Joliet Area YMCA is mandated by state law to report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities for investigation.

Holidays The YMCA prorates classes on days when the buildings are closed for the following holidays: Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving,

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The Y closes at 1 p.m. on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Cell Phone Use Policy The use of cameras, video recorders, cell phones and/or any photographic devices is NOT ALLOWED in YMCA locker rooms, changing areas or restrooms. We also ask members to refrain from making or answering phone calls while using the Wellness Center.

We also ask members to please refrain from taking photos during classes and demonstrate good judgement and assess the situation/ environment before taking photos at the YMCA. Please remember that it is important to obtain parental consent before taking photos/ videos of minors. This is for the safety and privacy of all our members and participants.

No Smoking Policy In the interest of the health and safety of our staff and members, it is the policy of the Greater Joliet Area YMCA to forbid all forms of tobacco in any YMCA facilities or on the grounds of any YMCA property. YMCA grounds include: facilities, parking lots, sidewalks, fields, parks, and paths.

Tobacco products prohibited include, but are not limited to, lit or unlit cigarettes (clove, bidis, kreteks), e-cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, hookah products; any smokeless, dissolvable, or inhaled tobacco products, including but not limited to dip, chew, snuff or snus; and all nicotine delivery devices that are not FDA approved as cessation products.

Facility Privileges The Greater Joliet Area YMCA reserves the right to terminate facility privileges at any time for inappropriate behavior or conduct detrimental to its members or the organization.

Building & Room Schedules The Y schedules rooms in the building to allow for classes and open times. You can find room schedules in the facility or posted online by visiting www.jolietymca.org. Members can also access, view and set reminders for our free fitness classes and community events by signing-up to receiving weekly emails through on our online fitness schedule. To subscribe, visit www.jolietymca.org.

Wellness Center The Wellness Center is available for members ages 16 and over. We ask that members be courteous and put away equipment when finished using it and refrain from talking on their cell phones while in the Wellness Center. Teens (ages 13-15), who have completed the Wellness Center Certification Class, may utilize the cardio and strength machines. For safety reasons, only members ages 16 and over may use the free weights.

How to Register for Programs • Online by visiting www.jolietymca.org • In person by visiting your local branch • By phone by calling (815) SAY-YMCA (current members) The Greater Joliet Area YMCA accepts cash, check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover.

In most cases, phone registration is accepted for current members when paying by a credit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT). Outstanding balances must be paid before a member will be allowed to register for future programs. System credits and promotional codes may be used online.

All classes have a maximum and minimum number of participants. When possible, classes will be added to accommodate wait lists and to expand those offerings that are in high demand. Classes below the minimum will be combined when possible, and as a last alternative, will be cancelled.

KIDS CORNER SUPERVISED PLAYROOM Healthy parents are happy parents. Let your child have fun at the Y while you take time for yourself to get fit. There is no need to call ahead. Parents must remain in the facility while their children are in the playroom.

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU Parents’ Night Out Attention all parents! If you’re in need of a little time to yourselves, sign the kids up for Parents’ Night Out (PNO)! During PNO, kids, ages 4-12, are invited to come to the Y for a night of fun. Activities include a movie and games. Pre-registration is required 48 hours in advance and all participants must be potty trained.

Designed for children, ages 2-5, preschool programs at the Y are so much fun! Through a variety of activities that are both structured and open play, our dedicated staff members teach, model and reinforce the Y’s Christian character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Before and After School Youth Recreation Program The Morris Community YMCA’s Kid Zone before and after school program serves students in grades K-5 at Morris Grade School and Saratoga Elementary School. Children do arts and crafts, play games, develop friendships and learn lessons that will last a lifetime. The Y’s Kid Zone program encourages positive behavior through character development activities and emphasizes the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

HALF-DAY OUT OF SCHOOL Open to all students at Morris Grade School and Saratoga Elementary School

The Morris Community YMCA will offer half-day programming for students at both Morris Grade School and Saratoga Elementary School. Children, grades K-8, may sign into the Y upon dismissal from school at 11:30 a.m. and be signed out as late as 6 p.m.

Depending on enrollment numbers, Saratoga students may be transported to Morris Grade School. All participants should dress for the weather and bring a sack lunch. Advanced registration is required and space is limited.

Fees are non-refundable. The registration deadline is 48 hours prior to the day off school.

DHS funds are accepted. Financial assistance is available for those who do not qualify for DHS funds. Programming runs from August to May. A $45 non-refundable registration fee (per family)*, the first of 10 installment payments and YMCA membership fee (if applicable) is due upon registering. The remaining nine payments are paid via automatic withdrawal from a checking account. Debit and credit cards also accepted.

Participants may start attending four business days after the day registration is completed.

TEEN ACHIEVERS ASSEMBLY (TA2) A LIFE-READINESS PROGRAM FOR AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

New Evening Program

One of the Y’s most beloved programs, Teen Achievers provides area high school students with the guidance and support they need to discover their identities, embrace their passions, and become their best selves. Building upon the successes of the Y’s school-based Teen Achievers programs, Teen Achievers Assembly (TA2) will provide area high schools students with an alternate evening program at the Galowich Family YMCA. Students will learn to manage their stress, time, and emotions, and learn about the importance of making confident and wise decisions during their high school years. With the support of the Y’s TA2 team, students will learn about life after high school and receive the encouragement to, not just complete 12th grade, but to be truly prepared for whatever comes next.

SWIMMING FURTHER FASTER Joliet YMCA JETS Swim Team One of the area’s most historic youth swimming clubs, the Joliet Y JETS Swim Team is a year-round developmental competitive swimming program that offers instruction and training for swimmers, ages five and up. Swimmers of all ages will learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and setting and achieving goals while developing their competitive swimming skills. The JETS Swim Team supports the YMCA’s mission of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities, and our professional team of coaches strive to not only build strong swimmers, but caring, honest, respectful and responsible children and young adults.

Anyone between the ages of 5 and 18 can join the JETS Swim Team. To make the beginning level of the team, swimmers must be able to swim one length (25 yards) of the pool comfortably and confidently without a flotation device. All JETS Swim Team participants must have a YMCA Facility Membership.

A member of both YMCA and USA Swimming, the JETS participate in a variety of meets throughout the year, although competition is not mandatory.

The team practices up to six days a week at four locations throughout Will and Grundy Counties.

Swimmers are encouraged to attend practices and work hard, but there are not mandatory practice attendance requirements.

Climbing Iconic Buildings of the World Join the YMCA for this unique fitness challenge, designed for members of all fitness levels. This 8-week program will challenge you to climb the tallest and most recognized buildings in the world as a way to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

Participants will log stairs climbed with a tracking card and earn prizes along the way. At the end of the 8-week challenge, prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers with the most floors climbed.

FitStart is a program designed for the new exerciser or those who have trouble sticking to a workout program.

Throughout the 12-week program, participants will meet with a Fit Coach up to four times. During these meetings, your workouts will be evaluated and, as your fitness level increases, so will your workout intensity. The first session will consist of cardio.

Your second and third sessions will introduce you to strength training equipment and the fourth session will review and make sure you are comfortable with your new fitness plan. IGNITE YOUR PASSION Volunteer Opportunities at the YMCA The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to give back to the communities we serve.
