Gloria is founding editor of Červená Barva Press. She is an award-winning author of six poetry collections, two translations into Romanian and Serbian, and three chapbooks. Her poems have been published and translated into twelve languages. Her recent book, Grief Touched the Sky at Night (Glass Lyre Press, 2023), won the NYC Big Book Award, and the Independent Press Award. The book went on to win five other awards besides being a finalist twice, long listed and a few honorable mentions. Widely publishing, Gloria was also the Poet Laureate in Somerville, MA in 2017 & 2018.

Isabella is an associate attorney at Furman Kornfeld & Brennan LLP. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Finance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Rhode Island; and obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Roger Williams University School of Law. Isabella held legal intern positions at Shiseido Americas Corporation, and CVS Health. She served as an intern Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Licht of the Superior Court of Rhode Island. Isabella worked as a teaching assistant and was President of the Tax and Business Law Society.

A career publishing professional, Olczak holds a Master's Degree in Marketing Management from NYU. His experience spans IBPA, Independent Press Award, NYC Big Book Award, and PW. He's also worked with major national magazines like FORTUNE and Money, and helped launch New York Magazine's visitor publication.

NYC’s Times Square New York City's Times Square will transform into a vibrant literary showcase on May 4th, as winners and favorites from the INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD and NYC BIG BOOK AWARD take center stage. From the stroke of midnight to 11 PM, a strategically positioned billboard on Broadway, just north of 46th Street, will dedicate minutes each hour to celebrating these distinguished authors.

Publisher Ted Olczak, of the "INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD and NYC BIG BOOK AWARD" magazine, curated the program, aiming to provide unprecedented exposure for these literary talents. His vision stems from a desire to champion literacy and the arts. He further added, "I wanted to celebrate these authors in a grand way," Olczak explained, "by placing them on a billboard in the heart of Times Square."

Mr. Olczak detailed his inspiration for this initiative in a recent publisher's letter writing, "I thought about those supporting literacy and the arts. This year, I decided to celebrate these authors as they chose to be featured on a billboard by the TKTS Broadway ticket booth in the heart of New York City's Times Square. I thought when I am purchasing a book, I'm not just giving a gift; I'm also supporting authors, illustrators, publishers, and the entire literary community. Ted, I was so proud to be the first expert speaker at your very first BookCamp: 2024, a wonderful three-day book publishing conference in New Jersey. Tell us more of what your vision is for BookCamp: 2025 -- and when is the next one?

Ted Olczak: BookCAMP is designed to provide practical, useful information and strategies, and connect publishing professionals. No BS. Actually Brian, you were among the first individuals I considered when curating this event, as your expertise aligned perfectly with the profile I envisioned. This year’s event is already bringing more star power with ‘teeth’. Publishers will walk away educated and connected.

BookCAMP 2026 will be in April, I’ll be announcing details May 4th.

Brian Feinblum: You have been involved in book publishing for 30+ years. What changes have you seen over the decades?

Ted Olczak: It’s even easier for anyone to get published, and to be successful. In the 1990s, some fifty publishers controlled 80% of the industry, with very few channels to get books to readers. This is no longer the case. Now, anyone with a word doc can get a .epub and sell on Barnes & Noble within 48 hours, and be distributed globally more quickly than I have ever seen.

Brian Feinblum: Why did you see a need for BookCAMP? Ted Olczak: Publishers and authors need more education, better direction, and more connections they can rely on for expertise to help them sell more books. BookCAMP accomplishes that: https://www.ipabookcamp.com/

Brian Feinblum: What predictions or trends do you see for the book industry?

Ted Olczak: More use of artificial intelligence; greater distribution channels with the disappearance of other channels, MORE books.

BookCAMP as an industry leader.

Brian Feinblum: You used to sell advertising space at Publishers Weekly and worked later with IBPA. But the last number of years you have been running several book awards. Tell us about those.

Brian Feinblum: How do you encourage a new author to find his or her way into the publishing world?

Ted Olczak: Yes, I began with PW in the early 90s, and then again for nearly a decade in the 2000s. IBPA was my client then. I later worked with them and put together Publishing University for four years. To me, they weren’t delivering like I thought they could. Authors and publishers want results and to sell more books. Vendors want to help. Reviews and awards highlight key titles, but many authors do not leverage its potential. The Independent Press Award, www.IndependentPressAward.com, is designed to help those struggling authors and publishers find a way to break through the clutter, THEN help them sell books. NYC Big Book Award was created to include the Big 5 publishing houses who were excluded from the Independent Press Award. They saw the value of what I was doing, so we invited them to enter the fall NYC Big Book Award program.

Ted Olczak: We all need help, best-selling authors to first-timers.

Come to BookCAMP, and whatever industry or author event you can find. Learn from others and create networks that can help you in the future. With a great idea and persistence to see it through, anyone can be successful.

Brian Feinblum: What’s next for you?

Ted Olczak: Printed Word Reviews will be taking over IPA BookCAMP formally and create greater educational and networking opportunities. Ted Olczak: Major exposure and bragging rights. You’re not going to sell enough books during the campaign, but over time it translates.

The 'Building a Community and Brand Around Your Writing' panel at Tech Theatre on March 11th provided invaluable insights into the evolving digital landscape, focusing on platforms like Substack, TikTok, and Discord. In an era of increasing digital tools, the session emphasized the importance of writers' self-promotion.

Led by industry experts, the discussion explored how writers can leverage digital platforms and refine strategies to build sustainable and authentic audiences.

new title in the Chick-Lit genre. The day ended with T.V. Holiday, author of the "Legend of the Iron Warrior" series, concluded the signing event, enthralling a number of attendees with his tales of fantasy.

The Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Conference in Los Angeles witnessed a vibrant celebration of California's literary talent, thanks to Printed Word Reviews' multi-author signings event on Saturday, March 29th. Aisle 500 at the Los Angeles Convention Center buzzed with excitement as attendees mingled with award-winning authors, discovering the diverse voices shaping contemporary literature.

Attendees not only had the opportunity to meet and interact with these accomplished authors, but also to have their books signed and delve into the creative processes behind their works. The event fostered a sense of community, connecting writers and readers in a shared appreciation for storytelling.

Adding to the excitement, Printed Word Reviews' giveaway drew people to the aisle, with lucky attendees winning prizes, including Spotify and Starbucks gift cards, magazine subscriptions, and BookCAMP day passes. The atmosphere underscored Printed Word Reviews' commitment to promoting literary talent and fostering a thriving literary community.

The day kicked off with Tim Turner and Moisey Gorbaty, whose collaborative work, "The Reluctant Conductor," a powerful, emotionally reverberant debut novel that captures the hardship, oppression, and hope of a Jewish merchant’s life before, during and after World War II in the USSR was on full display with both authors Turner and Gorbaty making themselves available. Gary E Smith, author of the Warren Steelgrave series, followed, with many people engaging in conversations with Smith as he shared his perspective on his multi award-winning fiction series.

The event at AWP Los Angeles highlighted the power of author interaction and the importance of platforms like Printed Word Reviews in showcasing the diverse voices of California's literary landscape.
