Checklist for VA Education & Training Benefits
The following checklist will help guide you through the process of receiving your Education & Training Benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Complete your application for VA Education Benefits o Veterans should use VA Form 22-1990 o Veterans Dependents should use VA Form 22-5490 Find out more about applying at www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply
• Transfer students should change their Place of Training with the VA o Veterans should use VA Form 22-1995 o Veterans Dependents should use VA Form 22-5495
• Give your Certificate of Eligibility (issued by the VA) to ICC’s School Certifying Office (SCO) located in the Office of Student Financial Aid
• Complete ICC’s VA Benefits Information sheet, available at www.indycc.edu/financial- aid/veterans
• Provide a copy of your schedule every semester. You must send the SCO your schedule each semester of enrollment that you want certified; it will not automatically happen
• Any changes to your schedule must be reported to your SCO. Failure to notify the
VA of changes could cause your benefits to be in over- or under-payment
• If you change your major, you will need to notify the VA and your SCO
A few other things you should know: • ICC does not charge out-state tuition rates to any Veteran or dependent entitled to benefits, regardless of residency status. If your bill indicated “Border State” or “Out State” tuition, please let your SCO know.
• Any veteran entitled to benefits under Chapter 31 (Vocational Readiness &
Employment) or Chapter 33 Post-9/11 GI Bill are not charged late fees, denied access to classes, or other institutional facilities based on their inability to pay due to a delay in disbursement of funds from the VA. If there is a delay of benefits due to you, please notify your SCO.
