Catalyst Recovery

“Spectubular Technologies Precision Micro-Cut Filter Tubes are currently being used for catalyst recovery in FischerTropsch reactors in the energy industry,” shares Truncale. “Traditional filter media, such as wedge wire or wire mesh, offer a more arduous path for the catalyst and fluid to pass through which, as particles are captured, clogs the filter. In contrast, using our newly-patented thin-walled filter element, the catalyst are easily backwashed and thoroughly removed allowing for a longer lasting filter. This allows Spectubular Technology customers to benefit from an improved and more cost-effective process.”

The Bright Future is Tubular

“Our Spectubular system currently has the capability to process material in a 10 mm to 30 mm diameter range,” Truncale states. “We have received significant interest in larger diameters from several interested customer prospects. Based on this customer feedback, we are working to extend our capabilities by enhancing our patented systems to enable us to process diameters of 100 mm or more. This will allow us to extend our product range and reach out to new potential customers and applications.”

CEO Judd Swift comments that “while this innovative filter technology is primarily used in the energy industry, we plan to partner will other filtration experts to expand to additional markets and applications. We believe that our patented filter technology can provide a better, more cost-effective solution for many solidliquid filtration applications that require micron-level filtration.”

The use of this filter Swift believes will be next generation for applications that require a cleanable and reusable filter, as it can be more effectively backwashed, extending filter life and reducing maintenance and downtime. In their vision, this is marketed as a “green” solution, helping to position the filtration industry as a key player in the fight for climate control.
