Letter From the Dean Dear Friends The month of May brings to close the annual academic year and appropriately signals a time for reflection, celebration, and expressions of appreciation. We reflect on the challenges and successes experienced by students, faculty, and staff as they have endeavored to achieve and support the University of the Incarnate Word’s values of faith, innovation, education, truth, and service across the disciplines of athletic training, kinesiology, nursing, rehabilitation, and sport management. We celebrate the accomplishment of students and faculty to include graduations, honors, scholarly activities, and teaching excellence. We celebrate our time together and extend blessings to all in their ongoing professional and personal lives. We take the time to acknowledge the special relationships and support received from and among students, faculty, staff, the larger UIW family, and our families and friends which assisted us in accomplishing our individual goals and school-wide mission. We extend a special note to those who leave the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions to continue their professional careers, to move forward to new stages of their lives, or who have graced us during their time on this earth. We remember our current and past alumni and faculty members who have provided the scaffolding that enables our ongoing accomplishments. In the end of our reflections, take hope in the continuing circle and the appropriateness of an ongoing dedication to the UIW core values. Please enjoy this second edition of Caring Notes and celebrate with us the accomplishments of “our” school.
