This issue will explore relationships with the city of Edinburgh, which are as varied as the people who live
in the city. We want to consider the city as a site of intermediality, where all kinds of media collide,
collaborate, and exist in harmony and in tension. Some starting places for exploring this theme include
the city’s museums, galleries, theatres, and music venues, its cultural/artistic festivals, and the
relationships between architecture (both of buildings and landscapes) – old and new – and nature. We
are especially interested in transnational/transcultural themes, engagement with history, and the
evolution and fluctuation of relationships of individuals and communities with the city.
